A combination of both. My view is this: even if singers/bands haven't declared themselves Christian, their talents were still given to them by God. A lot of "secular" songs turn my focus more to God than some by Christian artists do. In the end, I think it has to be a personal decision--the Bible doesn't draw a clear line on the issue.

I listen to a mix of Christian and pop music mostly. I am always on the lookout for new kinds of Christian music, especially the pop or rock kind. 3nodding biggrin

I love all types of music! (Except rap, I CAN"T STAND IT!) But I also don't listen to music that talks about using drugs, drinking, or sex. I will refuse to listen to it! But yeah... I think must everyone in this guild is that way! That's great!! 3nodding
My favorite Christian bands are: Newsboys, DC Talk, Casting Crowns, Jars of Clay, Toby Mack, Ivan Parker, and the really crazy-cool black guy... ;__; I can't remember his name. If anyone knows, please PM me! ^^ Country Music: Reba MacEntire, Martina McBride, Toby Kieth, Faith Hill, Wynona Judd, and many more!
Classical: all
Other genres I like: Anything from an Anime.
songs I like: My Immortal and Bring Me to Life by Evanesance and When I'm Gone by Three Doors Down (this song fits me so well... I try to please everyone, I hate having ppl mad at me).

ninetails390 -"Beautiful Day" by...whoever it's by . Thats by U2 hun biggrin I listen to secular and Christian. I've cut down a lot on certain bands of mine because after going to my new church (which I love) I've come to the realization that a lot of my stuff may not be too good for me. But there are bands that I love to death that I still listen to, I just try to skip certain songs if they're inappropriate. Personally I don't find anything wrong with my way of listening to music. I cut out the bad and I try not to listen to things that make me feel depressed or mad (unless I feel like its the only way for me to cope, by just letting the tears come, in which case i turn on a really sad song and just cry while praying to God about things, which, again, i dont feel is wrong). So yea. However, my friend is calling me a "bad Christian" for listening to all these bands and hes going off about all these Christian bands as being posers and arent Christians at all...which in turn drags me down spiritually so I think i'm gonna have to talk to him about that. anyway thats my opinion.

I listen to mostly Christian music. I absolutely love Christian rock. The energy is awesome! I listen to a few secular bands like Linkin' Park but I try to stay away from the songs that talk about negative things. (drugs, sex,....) This has been an issue that I've struggled with for a couple years now. I know I shouldn't be listening to a lot of the secular stuff. It's terrible. But, when I totally swipe it out then I feel so removed from my peers. It's really tough. A lot of my friends look at me like I'm some kind of dumb nerd that's too good for their music. They still don't understand where I'm coming from.

I listen to mostly Christian music but I must confess I do listen to secular music too. I am however very careful as to what it is. I agree that we should not be listenin to swearing and people singing about drugs but we should not be taken completely out of the world. Yes, we should make a stand. Yes, we should be careful what it is we listen to. Do not expose yourself to things that would displease the Lord. But by all means, providing the music is clean, listen to some secular music too, just don't get dragged down. heart ~JesusFreak_90~ heart
