Okay. Well.

It's been awhile since I've been on gaia. Think a long time. But, recently this has come up, and I don't honestly know where else to go that has soundly educated people. And google isn't helping me do anything other than freak me out more. And, I do feel stupid for posting this question, because I give advice to people in my situation and I should know all about it and be able to make a level headed analysis. Anyways!

Let's start off by telling you that I started Ortho Tri Cyclen 12 days ago, two days off my last period. And, I haven't had sex in over a year. You just rolled your eyes. I know it. I would be. But, my boyfriend and I have been messing around a lot lately and about two weeks ago we got a little carried away. I was wearing underwear and some thin pajama bottoms and he was wearing boxers, but there was a lot of 'precum'. And I'm only recently learning about the ins and outs of that particular fluid. And he managed to soak through the boxers, which I imagine isn't hard to do.

So, for about a week and a half I've been experiencing;
- Nausea. At random intervals, all day.
- Super sore boobs.
- Constipation.
- Spotting.
- Super moodiness.

There's been other things I've written off like having to go to pee (normal people pee four times a day!) because I drink a lot of water, random cravings (but mainly for carbs, because I'm a carboholic and am trying to lose weight) and 'fatigue' (I'm always tired anyways, and it hasn't gotten worse recently). I've reviewed all the side effects of the birth control, and I know the birth control I'm on introduces a higher dose of progestin into my system, because it's part of the combo pill I'm on. I've been trying to convince myself that the combination effects of a higher dosage of progestin and estrogen from the pill, the stress at work and the stress of freaking out about this (pregnancy is the LAST thing I need right now) and the fact that he hasn't gotten semen on me at all, we haven't had sex, and yeah there was a little precum, but we were both wearing underwear and I was wearing pants (come ON, they'd have to be supersperm). And this is all before my next period, which may or may not be on time because of the birth control pills I'm taking.

And it's only been about 14 days since my last period, so I keep trying to tell myself this is just a reaction to the new pills, the stress, and that I wouldn't have so many symptoms so soon.

Either way; I'm going to pick up a store pregnancy test tomorrow, because that's standard 'I'm freaking out' protocol.

Anyone care to provide some calm insight? smile

Pregnancy is very unlikely from what you described. You probably are noticing stress and birth control side effects. Birth control side effects are usually the worst in the first couple of months, then they often calm down a bit after that. So take the test to be extra sure, but I really do not think you have anything to worry about. 3nodding

Pretty much what Lorien said. All of the symptoms you listed, while they're symptoms of pregnancy, can also be chalked up to stress and hormonal birth control. When I first started the Pill years and years ago, I was extremely nauseous for the first few days of the first few months, I was moody, and I was tired. Sore breasts can be due to the Pill, as well as an oncoming menstrual cycle. Spotting can be due to starting hormonal birth control, because your cycle will probably be changed a little bit.

Unless any of his precum/ejaculate went inside your v****a, you don't have anything to worry about. But of course there's nothing wrong with taking the test just in case to be sure. smile
