 Welcome to the joint RP contest for two lovely eggs: one from Silarial's clutch, and one from Gemini's! Their sires are Yanagi and Thanatos respectively, and, surprisingly enough, the eggs are relations -- surprising given their appearance, no?   This contest is free, but: You are required to keep up with all family RP your Kirin becomes involved in. This means you should not keep Sadi Sidhe, Sylverstar (owners of Yanagi and Digitalia from the Nature herd), Cornetified (Gemini's owner) or me waiting a long time for you to tag, if it is your turn to tag. This may sound intimidating, but it really isn't. Check the timestamps for all RP of the above herds to see what I mean. ;oThis RP contest will end about a week from this post's timestamp. A Kiss of Frost General prompt It seems these foals have chosen a most inopportune time to enter the world: smack in the heart of winter, when food is hard to find and the cold, the cold will kill you. What do they experience in their early days? Hardship? Playing in the snow? It's all up to you.
Ready Or Not, Here I Come! Specific to: Yanagi x Silarial's egg When Spring arrives, the forest, slowly but surely, returns to its usual lush green self... and in the midst of all that greenery, this foal and its sibling play hide-and-seek. This is not at all unlike their parents' first meeting, though in that case the game was entirely unintentional. How does this round play out?
Pearls Before Swine Specific to: Gemini x Thanatos's egg Amazingly, each of Gemini’s foals has been granted their own set of pearls... including this one. Gemini takes great pride in her pearls, and expects the same of all her children. Of course, a foal likes to play… How does your foal react? Do they heed Mother's wishes and keep their fun to treading carefully through the snow to keep the pearls spotless? Are the pearls really as precious as mother says? Or do they claim that the pearls are theirs to do as they please, and roll in the snow until it turns to slush? How do they really feel about those pearls around them? You may: Try for both eggs using the first prompt. Try for one egg using the first prompt (state which egg you're going for!). Try for one egg using its specific prompt. Try for both eggs using both specific prompts in separate entries. You may not: Try for an egg using the prompt specific to the other egg.

Brrrr, It's Cold in Here!
Name of Kirin: Haylin I Read Your Rules: a Trying for: The pretty pretty blue eggu of Gemini and Thanatos. Prompt Used: Pearls before Swines Entry:
Haylin watched as her mother Gemini started to clean her pearls. She remembered her mother's admonishment to keep her own pearls clean as well. "I'll try my best, Mama. I promise." Haylin said. She looked at her mother's shining coat and lustrous mane and tail, all which had the glow of something well cared for and looked after. Even now, her mother was meticulously cleaning her pearls, making sure they shone. Haylin sighed with envy on the inside. She would never have a coat like her mother's. In an effort to take her mind of it, she started walking.
She rambled off towards the forest, nosing around for edible plants. Her father had taught her which plants were edible and which were not, and especially those good for her health and dangerously toxic to her. A few berries here and there, sweet grasses to nibble on, pretty flowers which grew in clumps. She continued wandering until she came upon a stream. The stream flowed from the waterfall in the distance, and Haylin could hear it roaring from where she was.
Butterflies danced along the stream aand dragonflies whizzed pass her, dipping their rear ends inside the water. Haylin started towards the stream excitedly, ready to play, get wet and have fun. She splashed into the stream, feeling the cool water hit her. Her tail and mane wet, and her coat dripping, she laughed and splashed around, playing in the water, feeling the joy and laughter bubble up in a never ending fountain inside her.
Finally she stopped playing, tired out by her frolicking in the stream. Only then did she remember her promise to keep her pearls clean. Glancing at her pearls, Haylin winced. There was bracken and stray leaves clinging onto them, and a weed of some sort. In fact, her entire coat was totally wet and had little bits of leaves and twigs in it. An overwhelming sense of dismay enveloped Haylin as she surveyed herself.
In an effort to make herself presentable, Haylin started to lick herself clean, pulling the bracken and leaves out of her coat and more importantly, the pearls. As dusk drew closer and the sun began to sink, Haylin made her way back, feeling as if she had let her mother down.
As the sun sunk lower in the western horizon, Haylin found her way back to her mother's side. She cringed at the look Gemini gave her for coming back with dirt on her coat and leaves in her mane. "Sorry, Mama. I tried my best." She said softly, looking at her hooves, feeling guilty. Her pearls shone with cleanliness even though her coat did not. At least, she knew that her mother would notice the pearls more than her general appearance.
With the moon rising in the dark night sky, Haylin began to yawn. As her sleepiness set in, she lay down by her mother's side and felt the drowsiness overtake her. What a bother those pearls are, was her last thought as she drifted of to sleep in the field they had settled in for the night, under the twinkling stars.

Brrrr, It's Cold in Here!
Name of Kirin: Fews I Read Your Rules: r Trying for: The petrified wood one ^^ Prompt Used: Ready Or Not, Here I Come! Entry: "Pad'll never find me. I'm the best hider ever!" Fews said proudly, but quietly, to herself. She really had chosen well, curling herself between two massive old tree roots. It'd take a very keen eye to spot her. Giggling softly, she kept an eye out for her brother but, apparently her smothered laughter had given her away because just then he came into view, looking around as if he had heard a noise.
Keeping very still, the filly waited for him to move on out of sight before she carefully stood and, as silently as she could, moved off in the direction he'd just come from to find a better hiding spot. But she'd barely made it three steps before he jumped out at her and shouted, "Found you! Now you gotta count, Fews."
"But I'm the best hider ever!" she cried, sticking her tongue out at him, and then ran off into the woods.

Name of Kirin: Maisie (F), Errol (M) I Read Your Rules: r Trying for: The starry blue one (might as well ^^ ) Prompt Used: Pearls Before Swine Entry: 'Mother said not to get these dirty. Must not get them dirty,' Maisie repeated to herself in a silent mantra. Mother had told them all, over and over, to keep these pearls safe and Maisie fully intended to keep her promise because her mother was her everything; her safe haven, her mentor, her idol. Perhaps it was her overthinking of things that led to what happened.. Maisie left her siblings to themselves and wandered off, traipsing through the snow. After a few steps, she was inspired to trot then gallop through the cold, frozen water. Laughing, she jumped and sashayed but a sudden thought occurred to her. What had all that fooling about done to her pearls? Momentarily stymied, she glanced down at the keepsake and squeaked in dismay; the pearls were dripping with the slush she had kicked up while playing. Horrified, she hurriedly tried to wipe them clean but, in her urgency, she miss-stepped and took a tumble, rolling in the snow and churning up the wet dirt hidden underneath. By the time she righted herself, her pearls were covered in mud. Crying piteously, she ran to her mother and apologized over and over before she was finally sent to bed to calm down. 'Never again,' she promised herself. 'I'll never do anything so stupid again. I'll keep them clean like I promised Mother..'

Name of Kirin: Aurora I Read Your Rules: l Trying for: Gemini and Thanatos egg Prompt Used: Pearls Before Swine Entry: Aurora listened to her mother as she explained to her and her siblings the importance of keeping their pearls clean and pretty.
She knew her siblings did not think it very important. They thought life was about rolling around in the dirt and playing games. She however knew better. She was still young but she admired her mother and wanted to be as beautiful as her. She took meticulous care grooming herself and trying not to get her pearls dirty. She absolutely hated to be dirty and didn't understand her siblings desires to get so dirty. Her siblings usually played by themselves and exclude her because of this. She didn't care, though...well maybe a little. She had her own fun. She liked to collect pretty things. Flowers and shiny pebbles and such.
Aurora came out of her thoughts when her siblings ran off to play.
She had missed almost everything mother had said. She started to feel ashamed for not being able to listen to such an important topic. What if she never learned to clean her pearls right?
She went up to her mother nuzzled her. "Mommy I forgot to listen," Aurora said letting out a small sniffle.

Name of Kirin:Siliniez I Read Your Rules: l Trying for: Yanagi and Silarial's egg Prompt Used: Ready Or Not, Here I Come! Entry:
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10! Here I Come, you better have found a good spot!"
Siliniez started walking as carefully as he could through the soft spring underbrush in the direction he had hear his brother go off in. He walked slowly and deliberately. He knew if he moved slow he was harder to see. He tried to stay along the taller ferns so he would blend in better.
He heard a small crackle of leaves and turned to see his brother jumping off. Siliniez sprinted off after him as fast as he could. "I see you!"
After running for what felt like forever, Siliniez, stopped but couldn't see his brother anywhere. He knew he was somewhere close by though cause he had been pretty close behind him.
Looking around one tree and than behind a clump of ferns he felt a poke on his behind. "Hey!" he turned around with his little nub of a horn and playfully attacked his brother.
They tumbled around for awhile. "Hey I found you, so I win...so Nah"
Siliniez got up quick and ran off back towards where they had come from. "My turn to Hide," he said as he disappeared into the forest.

Name of Kirin: Hideki I Read Your Rules: f Trying for: Ffff, the green cutie Prompt Used: Ready Or Not, Here I Come! Entry: 1, 2, 3...
Hideki slipped into a mossy hollow covered in the same sort of mushrooms he and his brother Padraig had inherited from their father, Yanagi. Padraig thought he could beat Hideki at this game, but Hideki felt confident of winning this game of hide-and-seek against Padraig. He'd show Padraig that he was better at being sneaky!
4, 5, 6...
Surely Padraig must have started looking for Hideki by now. Hideki permitted himself a giggle of coltish triumph, but it was a few moments until he realized that although Padraig must be looking for him, Hideki couldn't hear Padraig's voice. Well, Hideki had found a good hiding place, certainly, but surely Padraig would come this way eventually...right? Well, anyway, Hideki could still leap out of the bushes and surprise his brother when Padraig got close enough.
7, 8, 9...
It was getting cold and dark, and Hideki wasn't sure how long he'd been waiting for Padraig. Hideki was starting to have doubts about Padraig ever finding him at this rate, and feeling a touch of guilt about hiding so well from his family. He got stiffly out of the thicket and looked around. These woods looked so different from when he'd come through here earlier. "Padraig? Padraig! Where are you? I'm sorry I hid so well from you! I'm over here! Where are you? Padraaaiiig!!!"
10...
"Padraig?" Hideki called out, looking about for his brother. "Padraig!" He'd been looking for some time now, and he felt sure the sun was below the horizon, and being lost and alone at this time scared Hideki. Fortunately, it wasn't too long before he heard a familiar coltish whicker.
"Hideki? Hideki! Where were you? Mom and Dad were so worried! You scared them," Padraig said a little huffily as he came in sight of Hideki, who bolted up to bury his face in his brother's mane.
"I'm sorry, I won't do that again." He glanced at his brother. "Wait, you weren't worried?"
"Of course not," Padraig responded with what dignity he could.
"Oh, then why were you calling out? Do you admit that I'm better at hide-and-seek now?" Hideki asked slyly.
"Well, Mom and Dad and Digi were worried and had me go look for you, that's why. And you're--"
"Hideki! Where were you?! We were so worried about you!" their mother called out sternly from behind Padraig. Hideki groaned inwardly. Time to face the music, and it sounded like he was going to be in deep trouble. Well, whether Padraig admitted it or not, Hideki was still better at hiding, so that was worth something, even though he just knew he was going to get yelled at....

But before that, I would like to thank everyone for entering. -leers- You made for some interesting night-reading. Rest assured judging was impartial - I felt I recognised too many of you, so I had Flying Dicks compile your entries sans usernames in a PM and send them to me.
All three judges were unanimous. :3 As we have just three entries for each egg, we won't be doing honorable mention... hope
