one of my bettas died recently so i have an empty 2gal, but it has no heater and i cant keep it where it was so it wont have warm water.
what s a small cold or cooler water fish that would be happy in there? would a ghost shrimp be ok? a guppy? something easy to keep because im still not comfortable enough to keep a delicate fish after my rams died
also its one of those tall 2gals, not a long one

Here is a pretty good little list off of "About.com." Not so sure about the guppy they list, I was always under the impression they are more of a warm water fish, but all the others are pretty tolerant of cooler conditions, particularly goldfish and white cloud minnows. Considering the size of the tank, I would definitely take into consideration the final size of the fish (many goldfish can get rather large) and activity level. Minnows and danios, for example, like to stretch their proverbial legs quite a bit, so while they are tolerant of the water conditions they may not like the cramped quarters.

I can't really think of any coldwaer fish that'd be happy in a nano. You could try aquascaping it and add some coldwater snails though. Or, maybe a semi terrarium with a salamander? I'm not sure how much space they need.

You could put in some rosy minnows. They should do fine.

White cloud mountain minnows. They are very hardy, and love colder waters.
I am honestly fearful of keeping shrimp myself (though I would love to keep some cherry shrimp) for fear of them being finicky.
