Ok t here's my response to the rp prompt:
A lonely squirrel sat perched atop a tree. She watched as the house seemed so dead and empty after a long festive Christmas. Why couldn’t the spirit last forever? She paced back and forth a bit nervous, plus really cold. There was a roaring fire inside. It’s not like they would be upset if she would go in, but how? The squirrel got into squatting position before launching herself at the window hoping to break it and fall in. Big mistake! She hit it with a big splat. Someone came by only to see the indents of a squirrel that had struck the window. She laid on the ground moaning. “Darn it! That hurt!” She sighed before picking herself up. “Well I better find another way in besides that.” She then made her way to the garage to see if there was anything she could use to beat the door down with. There were some wrenches and hoes, until the fireworks caught her eyes.
The squirrel smiled quite content and decided to blow the door down with fireworks. She dragged the crate to the doorstep slowly. It definitely was not easy, but she eventually got there. “Phew!” She wiped her head before looking at the fuses for the fireworks. “Now how to start them?” She looked all over the place for some rocks. Eventually she found some, picked some up, and ignited flame onto the fuse. “There we go!” The squirrel was so close to getting inside, but unfortunately the whole box blew up scattering pieces here and there. It knocked the poor squirrel unconscious. Some humans heard the loud noise and went outside only to find a passed out squirrel and firework remains. They picked up the squirrel before bringing it into the house. “Hope this little one’s ok,” said one of the humans. They gave her a soft bed that originally was for a moonlit, but one was caring enough to give it up for her. “When she wakes up maybe we can try and give her some food.” The other human looked a bit stressed. “Sure sure, I got an exam coming up…I can’t be bothered by an insignificant little squirrel,” and with that the stressed human left leaving only one watching the squirrel.
“Don’t worry little one. You’re in good care now.” The kind hearted human said before looking towards one of her moonlits. “Make sure you take good care of her. I’m going to try and warm some milk up for her. She looks half frozen as well.” The human then left her. The moonlit that remained was sniffing the squirrel, but stopped, yawned, then laid down next to the squirrel’s bed since he had been told not to harm her. The frozen squirrel slowly opened her eyes to see the roaring fire she saw in front of her and a big wolf like creature beside her. She squeaked before darting out of the bed and trying to figure out where she was. Unfortunately, she was wrecking the whole house. Vases were being smashed, books were thrown on the floor, even water glasses, and plants were tipped over.
The stressed human came back downstairs. “What the?!” She growled. “Adrienne! See what happens when you bring a random creature into the house?” Adrienne came back in with the warmed milk only to see the house look like a hurricane had struck it and a barking moonlit trying to catch the squirrel. Adrienne sighed discontent before eventually calling out for the squirrel which went up her arm and on top her hair. “The poor thing’s frightened. She didn’t see us pick her up.” Adrienne then placed the squirrel close to the bed before feeding her some food. “Don’t worry about the mess…I can clean it up.” There was a sad glimpse in the humans eye. She worked almost everyday at her job, but still tried to find it in her heart to help out those who really needed it. She could get angry like everyone else, but with animals she wasn’t too bad. The stressed human glared at Adrienne. “Well make sure this is cleaned up tonight! I don’t want the guests coming tomorrow and seeing this house look like hill billy hell!” The human then stormed up to the bedroom.
Adrienne sighed. “Well…don’t mind her. She has a good heart, just not a lot of patience for new things.” The squirrel watched Adrienne as she fed her. How come a human would do this for her? The squirrel thought for a moment. She really wanted to help this kind human clean up and decorate the house, but before she could say anything Adrienne was already starting to pick things up. The female squirrel stood up while watching her. Eventually she started sweeping up the dirt with her tail and out the door. Adrienne noticed that the squirrel was trying to help her and smiled. It was nice to have a helper. So the squirrel and Adrienne worked all through the night to tidy the house up. The female squirrel had actually tried to repair the broken vase and organize the books. When the humans came down the next day they found Adrienne sleeping on the couch with the squirrel in her arms almost like it was a stuffed animal.
The humans were really grateful for what both of them did, but they definitely had a change of heart. Adrienne told them about the decorating when she woke up as well as the squirrel. The humans decided that they had misjudged the squirrel. In fact the squirrel taught them a lesson that the spirit that mattered the most, was the one of giving. No matte how small or insignificant giving always helps in the end. Their party was a blast and the guests that had come loved the squirrel and the help it accomplished that one night.

It was a cold frigid day. I, a lonely squirrel, sat at the window sill of a very interesting house. This house was huge but the inhabitants were what made it so interesting. I sat at the sill watching people and moonlits go about in a mad dash. However this mad dash was so different from the one I had observed a few weeks ago. This mad dash was a truly mad one. Everyone seemed to be upset about something or someone. I frowned missing the days when everyone had been so happy and festive.
The wind blew against my back and I shivered. It was so cold out here but as much as I wanted to go inside and warm myself by the fire, I did not belong. I was no one's pet, no one's friend. I was a stranger and an unwelcome being at this time. I turned away from the window and watched as a person approached the house from the woods. This human had several moonlits with her and they all seemed down. I looked back into the house as the group walked inside. The moonlits all scattered, receiving yells and fists shaken in their direction. One of them had nearly run over another human. The female who had walked in with this group was being yelled at by another female. I was saddened by this. Why were they all upset and yelling at each other? Had they forgotten the holiday spirit they had all shared days before this?
I lightly jumped down from my perch. I had to do something to make them remember! This just couldn't go on anymore! I moved towards the spot where the human had entered the house. I saw a porch and beyond that a door. That was the problem. I couldn't open that door and there was no one to open it for me. My ears twitched as I heard a loud crash and then more yelling. Big booming steps came this way with a smaller whimpering noise. I skittered off to the side as the door was thrown open. "STAY OUT! Until you can behave...... Stay out here!" The human dropped a older pup onto the porch, with a blanket, and slammed the door.
The pup was crying and whimpering about how it was sorry and didn't mean to break anything. Slowly I approached the pup. "H-hello." I stuttered shaking badly. This was my first time speaking to a moonlit. "C-could you help me out? I n-need.... no I want to go inside but I cannot open the door?"
The pup looked up at me with an angry look. "Open it yourself! I.... I...... WAH!" The pup burst into tears again making me wince. I didn't know what to do to make the pup feel better but seeing the sad pup was making me sad. I looked at the blanket and then to the pup. Perhaps if I warmed him up? I moved to the blanket, grabbing it with my teeth. I pulled it towards him trying to cover him with it.
"I'll..... I'll just find another way inside." I said bowing my head and running off. The pup looked up from crying and stared as I ran off. I felt that stare on my back but ignored it.
I had ran off the porch and into the snow. I made my way towards the front of the house, hoping I'd have better luck there. And indeed I did. Sometime after I had left my perch at the window near the front, someone had opened a different window. Some smoke was lazily drifting out. I frowned and hopped up on the sill. Slowly crawling inside, I looked around. The fire had died or rather had been put out and was smoking like mad. No wonder the window was open. I had softly landed on the floor, amazed that there were no humans or moonlits in this room even with the smoke.
I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going as I walked and ran straight into a big box. I looked up at it, wandering towards it front. I stopped in front of it with wide eyes. Was this one of those legendary boxes that held pictures in it?! It must be my lucky day! Oh how I always wanted to see one of these! Hearing footsteps I quickly ducked behind the box. Peeking out I watched the female from before close the window. "There all aired out now. Too cold to keep that window open any longer." She said to another human who had followed her, "Any ways.... I'm sorry about one of mine nearly running you over. I was only here to drop off this tape. It's one I made during the holidays. Everyone should watch it. I'm sure you all will enjoy it." With that the female set another smaller box on top of the one I was hiding behind. She then left with the other one.
Slowly coming out from behind the box, I thought about what she had said. "A tape?.... Does that get the box to work?" I mused quietly. I stared up at it thinking. She had said it was from the holidays.... and everyone would enjoy it. That's it! If I could only get everyone to watch it, they'd surely go back to how they were!
I climbed up the box to get the smaller tape. I was looking at it wondering how to get it to work when I heard a familiar voice. "What are you trying to do?" Asked the pup from earlier.
"Oh good! They let you back in!" I replied smiling cheerfully, "I'm trying to figure out how this 'tape' gets the box to make the pictures..... If I show everyone this 'tape' they'll all go back to being happy like before!" The pup shook his head laughing. "What?!"
"That box you're standing on is a TV. And how will one tape make them happy?" He said rolling his eyes, "And the one lady let me back in. She was leaving anyways." He watched as I fumbled with the tape trying to get it to do its magic. "Oh give it here! I'll put it in for you."
"Thank you!" I said gladly pushing the tape to him. It fell off the edge but he caught it neatly. I scurried down the TV and watched as he put the tape in another little box. "Ooooo" The TV came on and suddenly noise filled the whole room! It hurt my ears so bad that I crouched into a ball covering them.
"Volume! Where's the volume!?" The pup wailed looking around frantically as humans poured into the room. The humans were all demanding what was going on, why the TV was so freaking loud, who let the pup in and the squirrel for that matter. One of them came forward and turned the noise of the TV down until it was just a whisper. That same human turned to us, anger on her face, and demanded to know what we were doing.
"Well.... uh..... I...... I..... I've...." I started before the human picked me up. I yelped and curled in upon myself. Peeking out from behind my tail I met the human's gaze. "Spit it out." She said, none too please.
"I just wanted you all to be happy again. Like you were a few weeks ago..... I've been watching this house.... It makes me so happy to see you all in here happy as can be." I explained looking down, "I overheard another one of you say that this tape would make you all happy if you watched it on the magic box..... This pup was helping get the box to work." I looked up at her with big pleading eyes. "Won't you watch it? It's supposed to be really good!"
All of the humans looked uneasy at this, many of them muttering about stuff they had to do. "We really don't have....." One of them was saying before being cut off.
"You guys never have time anymore to do anything with each other or with us!" The pup below me yelled, "It won't hurt to sit down and watch this tape for a bit!" The humans looked down at this, showing uneasiness at his words.
Finally the one holding me nodded and placed me down. "Fine we'll watch it. Only a little though!" She went over to the box and pressed a button on the little one. The screen on the big box went black and a whining noise hit my ears. The humans, some with moonlits, all found some place to sit around this magic box. The female at the TV, turned up the volume and pressed another button.
The TV came to life, the screen moving side to side like someone was adjusting it. Then the female from way before, the one who had dropped off the tape, came on screen. "Hey everyone! This is my special present to you all. I'm going to be taping the festivities here at Moonlit Manor and making it into a little video for you all. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!" The screen went blank for a second before showing a picture of the house, covered in snow. People were outside decorating it and Christmas music could be heard in the background. When people noticed the camera-lady they waved, yelling out Merry Christmas.
The tape continued this way for a bit: showing the house becoming decorated, people baking, some wrapping presents. But everyone was happy and smiling. It showed the Christmas that had just happened and the spirit everyone had shared. I looked around the room and saw many of the humans smiling as they watched.
Then the scene changed to one of hyper puppies rushing down the stairs. It was Christmas morning and presents were waiting from Santa Paws. Humans followed, some sleepy but all smiling. The unwrapping of the presents was an insane time but judging from everyone's faces, on the tape and the ones present in the room now, it had been a very good time.
Shortly after that the tape ended, but not before the female who had made it came back on again with tons of moonlits, Duos, and squirrels. They all sang a song and wished everyone to be happy and well in the new year. The screen went black after that and the room was silent and still. I looked around trying to figure out what was wrong.
"That..... that has to be the greatest gift we've ever gotten." The female who had gotten the tape going said, "And a great reminder of what we should be like." The others murmured agreements and many sorrys rang out. I smiled as everyone apologized to each other. I was slowly making my way out of the room, happy that I had returned the spirit of the holidays and happiness, when a hand picked me up. I squeaked and turned to look at who had me.
"And where are you off too? We certainly can't have you going out into the cold. Just wouldn't be right. Stay here and help make sure we remember to keep the holiday spirit even when it's not the holidays." I squeaked happily and nodded vigorously as tears came to my eyes. I most certainly would!
