Completely stolen info...
This is my fourth task and by far the most informational, so far.
A Jedi Initiate is a Force-sensitive child. They are often taught in large groups including many other initiates. After an initiate was chosen by a Jedi Knight or Master, they graduate into a Jedi Padawan. If they are not chosen as a Padawan before their 13th birthday, they may either leave the Order or choose to be placed in a lesser role in the Jedi Service Corps. In order to progress from a Padawan to a Jedi Knight, one must complete various trials.
Requirements of advancing to become a Jedi Master included training a Padawan to a Jedi Knight or accomplishing an extraordinary feat. Wise and experienced Masters could potentially be asked to join the Jedi Council of twelve prolific members. These Jedi were known as Counselors or Council Members. Beyond a Council Member, the only general rank was the Grand Master of the Order.
In times of great need, the Jedi were known to assume military ranks and act as soldiers. A Padawan serving in a war was known as a Jedi Commander. Once knighted, the former Padawan becomes a Jedi General. Any Jedi Master not serving on the Council was considered a Senior General and those who were, were known as High Generals.
Specialized ranks were also used to classify Jedi during times of conflict. There was a keeper of the main entrance to the Jedi Temple known as a Gatemaster. A Jedi, who utilized the Force in conjunction with piloting, could be considered a Jedi Ace. A Jedi Weapon Master focused solely on fighting and had limited insight on the philosophy of the Force. The battlemaster was the instructor of lightsaber combat and highly skilled in his or her art.
A Force Warrior was a Jedi who uses martial arts and the Force to defeat opponents. Similar to this rank, was the Jedi Consular, who generally focused on diplomacy mastery of the Force. A Jedi Guardian focused mainly on lightsaber and martial combat, while still keeping in mind philosophy of the Force. Balancing the skills of a Consular and a Guardian, Jedi Sentinels focused on both areas of skill. A special branch of the Sentinels were the Jedi Watchman, who were designated a sector of space to serve and protect.
Another specialized branch of the Order was the Jedi Medical Corps, where Jedi Healers were stationed. A healer focused on the humanitarian aspects of the force, including Force healing. Four other ranks were given to Jedi specializing in lore and the past. There were Jedi geologists and Jedi archaeologists whose tasks were apparent. Jedi historians and Jedi librarians would often work together, to chronicle the past. A historian often knew next to everything about the Jedi Order. A Jedi librarian was the caretaker of the Jedi Archives and Great Jedi Library.
Involved with crime fighting, Jedi investigators were specially appointed by the Council to work undercover to unearth threats to the galaxy. Jedi Shadows did a similar job involving bringing Dark side cults to justice, by infiltrating and corrupting their infrastructure. Instrumental parts of the Order were the Jedi instructors and trainers. Instructors taught groups of younglings, padawans and the occasional older Jedi general information. Jedi trainers were involved in the teaching of certain fields of the Force. The only known rank that was removed from practice, was the Jedi Lord. Lords served as commanders of the Army of Light during the New Sith Wars. After the war, the rank was abolished.
Upon completion of my tasks and graduation into a Jedi Knight, I want to train as a Jedi Ace. I have always been interested in Starfighter combat and the speed involved. I think my audacity would serve me well in this endeavor. Other than that, I wish to train to become a Weapon Master.
