Given a quick Google search, it seems that this isn't all in my mind.

For the last two years, I've noticed that my depression comes back around the holidays, or is potentially worse. My situation has been different every year, but this year I think I notice it more.

I just started a new trimester of school. Now, it's true that I don't like the course material for one course. That I can cope with. But when I started, I dove into work and seemed happy about class. Now I have to convince myself to do work. I'm not sleeping well, I don't want to exercise, I'm eating junk and gaining weight (making me feel worse), I'm down on my appearance, and I just flat out don't want to deal with the holidays. I don't know if I'm just not used to the cycle because I had a two-week break after the last trimester ended, but something doesn't seem right. I don't know what or why this time of the year puts stress on me.

I do have an appointment with my therapist in a couple of weeks. It'll be nice to talk to him, but in between, that doesn't help my lack of enthusiasm or the crying fit I just had about 10 minutes ago.

Sounds like Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) to me. Its basically depression you get but only in the winter time. Its practically programmed for people to become depressed in the winter time, of course not everyone suffers from it. I'm not exactly sure what can be done to treat this disorder...but try doing some research. I'll look up some stuff too, and post later. (Its 3am where I am, and need to sleep lol)

I had a friend who has SAD, and he bought a special light that he kept plugged in in his room, and that helped. Something about this special light is supposed to help ease the depression. I don't know the name of it though so mythril would have to Google it or ask her therapist.

True, it probably gives off serotonin. Thats what the sun gives off, which makes us happy. Lack of sun means less serotonin, making us not so happy. That's why Seattle has a very high percentage of suicide and depression.
