The seasons have changed and though things are not as quiet as they seem, it appears that whatever ill that has befallen Twilight Designs no longer stalks the shop. Instead, it has taken to following the guardians and their bonded to home.
It is a tiny box, of no consequence, and harbors no magical spells on it whatsoever when checked. For all purposes, it is absolutely mundane. Still, the neatly wrapped present sits on the doorstep, waiting to be picked up after the doorbell was rang once.
When opened, inside is a hand carved snow globe. The base has angels and demons curving towards the top, as if reaching out for what is within the snow globe itself. Or, perhaps trying to usher whatever is within on forward with their path. Tiny lights are lit within the small city that dots the landscape of the world within the snow globe and when one stares at it long enough it all most seems as if the small figurines are moving about.
As it is lifted and shaken, music starts to play, a beautiful rendition of 'It Came Upon A Midnight Clear'.
And there is only one clue about where the trinket is from is the message carved on the bottom.
The world in this sphere is worthy of praise For unlike we mortals who flit and fly Paying no heed to time as it goes by ... Those within live each moment like it is their last Is this yours? Or is it mine? Can you see the truth within the lie?

Twas the night before Solstice, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; they were afraid to breath as the owner was passed out on the couch.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, iciles on the banister, in hopes that St. Nicholas wouldn't care, for alas the clock struck twelve and all in the home knew, if that fat elf came it would rain brimstone.
Nell was nestled all snug on her bed, visions of sugar-plums danced in her dreams.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, the cat girl sprang from her bed to see what was the matter. The faery was nigh bright as a star, the pixies angling ice arrows at the front door.
For her friend and the fire stone were due back with the egg-nogg and late by more than an hour.
Away to the window the cat girl flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below, not a car, not a carol, not even a gnome.
Shivering the cat girl tossed a glance at the hall, and moved back to her work, straightening the bows.

Headlights on drifts and crunching on snow, the silence is golden and echoing below, as the door opens while holding heavy packages, and Jasa has not forgotten any of the things she needed.
Cream colored flowers an' bright red bows, jingling bells hanging an' festive colored ropes, Ruku unaware of pixies in waiting. These are just a few amusing things about to happen.
Pixies awaiting with white icy arrows, Ruku unsuspecting that the cold was there, Handfuls of snow that were dumped quickly. These were actions that happened sneakily.
When the arrows bit then Jasa screamed, and the packages fell scattered across the floor, but the pixies began to giggle and laugh. And they don't feel so bad...
Sprawling on the floor her packages scattered, Jasa glares at the pixies as Ruku peeks out. Wooden ornaments rolling quickly away, hidden completely out of the way.
Brown paper bags torn up the sides, snowflakes falling and coming inside, the door stands open and slush on the floor, then a voice gumbles and yells "No more!"
Ruku sits in the pocket with no peeking, warm and comfy safe and sound, as Jasa glares at the mischief makers, streaking from side to side they want more.
Then the door slams, when the footsteps echo, then Jasa glances over wondering why she did not see this coming, and grumbles that they are so bad...

Out in the hall, seeing the scene As the heavenly flakes blessed her company Came a roar and a thunder few ever heard Like the screamin' calf of a big iceburg...
Up from above, the ceiling lamp swung Nettle and Haileigh had just begun Icicles fell, and flurries abated Now hear they're laughing from overhead.
Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more The Frost Pixie Trio were rollin' up the score Eighty missles fell before the end of that spree Of the Frost Pixie Trio on her Company.
In the nick of time, the door was closed The two girls looked on frost licking their nose As the little red stones rose again But the Trio spead away - "Curses, foiled again!"
Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more The Frost Pixie Trio were rollin' up the score Eighty missles fell before the end of that spree Of the Frost Pixie Trio on her Company.
Now, Trivii had sworn that it wouldn't happen again So she asked the other woman for a new battle plan Laughing and cleaning, they settled the score Waiting for the next time the Pixies started a war...
The Frost Pixie Trio was in a fix They'd tried everything, but and run out of tricks The furnace was fired up, to ninty degrees And that Pixie Trio went spinning out of sight
Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more The Frost Pixie Trio were rollin' up the score Eighty missles fell before the end of that spree Of the Frost Pixie Trio on her Company.

Jasa laughs, Are they listening? In the attic, cold is glistening. A frosty sight But Ruku is happy tonight Relaxing in front of the fireplace.
Gone away is the icicle. Here to stay is the warm fire. Ruku is in heaven As Jasa sips her eggnog Sitting in front of the fire.
In the kitchen they can mix eggnog Then delight in baking spiced cookies.
Jasa'll say Can you believe it? She'll add, Not one. No pixies in sight.
Later on they'll conspire To keep the warmth of the fire To face unafraid The further plans they've made Relaxing in front of the fireplace.
In the kitchen they can laugh most freely And pretend that it's a summer night They'll have lots fun with vengeful ideas Until the icy sprites give up.
And when it's war, ain't it thrilling? Though the ice is quite chilling Ruku will frolic and play, toasty and warm Relaxing in front of the fireplace.

A charming, chiming reflection of church bells would soon announce the midnight mass from the village, and the women idled over hot cider waiting calmly for the toll of the bells... However, instead of the distant church bells a different noise hearkened, not five minutes too soon. The harsh buzz of the antique door bell jarred them anything but charming and far from the bells chiming, much closer to home.... in this grating greeting for whom the bell tolls....?
Glancing across at Jasa, Trivii stood and moved towards the door, glancing back at Jasa, "Lets see who is at my door." Setting her tea on the edge of the table the cat girl rolled to her feet and arched her back, catching her shall off the back of her chair she draped it carelessly around her shoulders before strolling out into the foyer.
Lifting the locks one at a time as Nell closed the distance hovering at her elbow and Jasa trailed after.
As the latch is lifted a hard wind pushes the door inward along with a few snow flakes. Trivii shivered and took a half step forward glancing around and seeing nothing, she frowned turning back to Jasa and stepping back into the warmth of the house slightly confused...

"Noone there?" she asked from behind Trivii. Glancing around she wondered if it were the pixies playing pranks again. "Odd. Maybe it is your pixies playing tricks." Stepping out fully onto the step, Jasa moved past Nell, down to the bottom glancing around the decorated yard. "No cars or lights either. This is so strange."
There were no sounds coming from anywhere, except the normal quiet of the snow and the soft sounds from the house. The girl stared at her friend as Ruku began to stir in her pocket from the cold air around them. Shivering she moved back to the step, her foot brushing against something.
Jumping in surprise, she looked down to see a neatly wrapped package. "What's this?" she asked as she leaned over to pick it up, then holding it out to Triv. A slight smirk appeared on her face. "Do you have a secret admirer that I don't know about yet? Do tell. And I want all the juicy details."

Blinking the cat girl examined the package. "No... I haven't been doing anything but working since I moved in... I wonder."
Stepping down to the main walk she turned full circle, no tracks vehicle, animal or otherwise... Folding her arms she peered into the darkness. She allowed her eyes to shift looking for those odd electrical tailings that we often left behind like tracers in the wake of a magician.
"Nothing... aside from you the only personal I know is Mystic from Twilight designs." Turning to look back at Jasa she arched a dramatic brow. "Do you think he would have left it? It would make sense what with the no tracks or anything."

Jasa shook her head. "I don't know. Perhaps he did leave it but I've not met Mystic yet. I would think there would be tracks otherwise." She began rubbing her arms a bit. "Either way, let's take it inside. It's cold out here."
Ruku burrowed deeper into the pocket trying to stay warm from Jasa's body heat. He just had no use for the cold or snow and ice. And especially for those pixies.
Then she laughed adding, "Even with a sweater on. Ruku's snuggled so deeply in my pocket I doubt he'll ever come out." Stepping back inside, she said, "You can open it by the fire."
"It's just so curious that someone would leave it here like this and not give it to you directly." she commented moving further into the house. Soon she was sitting down beside the fire again and absorbing the warmth. "They must really not want to be known."

Nodding the cat girl climbed the steps her long tale sweeping after her, with a smile at her friend as she opened the door and Nell playfully rounded into the house.
"Think its for you??? Hmmm no, they would have left it at the shop or your place..."
Shimmering with excitement the wisp extended beckoning shadows, which if not for the playful sparkle of he gem itself might appear menacing.
Trivii smiled and eyed the box finally taking it from Jasa as she stepped into Nell's 'embrace' and moved towards the living room, which still showed some of the frost and puddles of water left by melted ice-missiles. Pulling a well used blanket from the rocking chair as she settled on the floor beside her coffee table.
Nell hung in the threshold waiting for the other two to follow. Sparkling and mesmerizing as the shadows within the gem moved in slow serpentine swirls.
Pulling a camera, pen and paper from a drawer in the table Trivii smiled at Jasa, "Only one way to find out, eh?"

Jasa nodded, moving to sit beside Trivii. "Only one way to find out what it is and who it is from. And no.. the only one who knows I'm here is my mother. I don't see her dropping off or having a package dropped off here for me. She'll send it to my apartment."
If she sent anything at all. Her mother lived in a very small world sometimes and it all revolved around her. Jasa had learned a long time ago to just deal with it and do as she liked without asking.
Feeling the warmth, Ruku slipped up to the top of the pocket. He slowly creeped out enough that he was only half hidden.
"I wonder why they just did not stay for a few moments to give it to you. It just seems rather odd." Jasa mused as she watched Trivii.

Trivii broke the seal on the package and slowly opened it, she tosses aside several wads of crumpled brown paper before reaching the masterpiece within, and gasped.
Nell spun back a little and collided with Ruku, where she waited.
Trivii lifted the globe free of the box to marvel at its workmanship, she forgot all about taking pictures as she turned the globe over to inspect it she read the inscription out loud:
"The world in this sphere is worthy of praise For unlike we mortals who flit and fly Paying no heed to time as it goes by ... Those within live each moment like it is their last Is this yours? Or is it mine? Can you see the truth within the lie?"
Blinking she cleared her eyes and commented, "That's strange." As she righted it and the music started to play...

The globe was gorgeous and Jasa told Trivii so. The world inside was intricate and amazing at the detail that had went into such work. She could see a clocktower and the hands seemed to be made as real ones were only miniaturized. The other buildings and even the people seemed to have incredible details that made them seem almost alive. Jasa shivered lightly as she stared at it and then yawned.
It had gotten late and after saying goodnight, she and Ruku had gone to her room. She was so glad that she had met Trivii and Nell. Even the ice pixies were amusing. It had brightened her holiday a great deal and she smiled as she crawled under the blankets.
It was the middle of the night when she heard something. At first she was sure it was the odd dream she had been having, but then she heard the sound again. Ruku was settled down on the pillow beside her head, but she picked him up gently after putting on her housecoat and slipped him down into the pocket. He would stay warm that way. There had been a noise and she wondered what was happening.
"Trivii...?" she called softly as she entered the living room. The lights were out, but the fire was still giving off a warm glow from the fireplace. Tilting her head, Jasa tried to find the source of it. Her gaze stopped on the mantleplace. It was as if the sound were coming from the globe. But why? Was the mechanism broken or stuck?
And there was water on the floor she suddenly realized as her feet were cold and wet. Was the globe leaking? She winced. Had the pixies been up to no good? She should at least check it she supposed as she glanced around in the dim light. Jasa stared at her feet and then realized that the tracks led away from the spot she was standing leaving the wet footprints behind. A frown crossed her face as she studied the room. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up, but there was no reason for it.
Nothing seemed to be out of place in the house, but she was sure the sound was from the snowglobe.
With a sigh, she reached out. A strange flash of light caused her entire body to tingle as she shut her eyes to keep from being blinded.
"What...?" she started to ask, but suddenly felt cold. For a moment she stood entirely still. Then she opened her eyes, staring in wonder. Where was she? Glancing upwards, she stared at the clocktower and the buildings around her. Why did they look familiar?

Nell whirled around the room, and came again and again to her foster-mother's side. The Catkin simply would not wake.
Couldn't she feel it?
That heavy feeling that had fallen over the house the odd penetrating silence?
As the late winter's dawn trickled through her curtains Trivii sat up and stretched, blinking comically at the anxious Nell.
"I'm up. I'm up." Freeing her lithe form from the tangled blankets she yawned. "Lets go and get breakfast started for Jasa hmm?"
As though expecting some response Trivii knotted her heavy flannel robe around her slight frame, she opened the door, to be proceeded by an anxious Nell down the stairs.
Slowing her stride the cat girl stared blankly at the wet footprints still on her floor. Looking up at the ceiling, had Jasa risen early to shovel the walk?
Entering the living room she picked up the snow globe startled to see a loan woman standing on the street by the lamp post, she hadn't been there last night.
