Personality: The best word to describe Seneca would probably be determined. She's one tough cookie in more than one way. Unlike most other girls growing up, she rarely ever cried. If she fell and scraped her knee, she clenched her jaw and seethed for a moment, but one the initial wave of pain passed, she went on about taking care of the problem ad getting on with her day. The same could be said about times in her life when she took strong emotional blows. She took her time to grieve but was realistic enough to know that there was nothing she could do and so she just moved on.

She is definitely not someone to even try to push around. While she's generally good-natured and optimistic, she's also very assertive. Not the least bit shy, she fits the book of 'Captain' very well. When she was younger, she was known to have a hot temper and mouth off before she could stop herself. Although her training in the guard has taught her the ability to hold off on such things. She's all about respect. Give it to her, and she'll return the notion. She's confident and cool and nearly always has a smile on her face. When something has her down, it's very hard for someone who doesn't know her to be able to tell.

Seneca takes her role as the Captain of the Guard to heart. She has immense pride for her kingdom. She wears the insignia of the phoenix with great pride. Her loyalty to her King and Queen (as well as their children) is uncanny. With her head always held high, she makes a wonderful teacher to the young recruits. Having dealt with small children when she was younger, she has unbelievable patience and has a way of explaining things and being ubeat enough so that her students are all filled with encouragement. In fact, she takes her job as Captain so seriously, it's as if sometimes she forgets she's even a woman.

Often preoccupied with her job or her visits with her brother, she really doesn't pay much mind to men. That doesn't mean she's interested in women, it just means she has little to no interest in romance. After seeing how easily her father took off when she was a kid, getting a husband of her own just vanished off of her priority list. Not that men haven't tried. She dealt with tons of men on a daily basis, but she was always quick to establish their relationship as, "Me- Captain, You-Peon," but in a much nicer fashion.

To sum it up, Seneca is proud, dutiful, loyal, caring, determined, and very purposeful. While she may come off as over dominate or even masculine at times, there is a woman buried under all of that armor somewhere.

History: Seneca was born to into a relatively poor family in a small village settlement known as Palax on the outskirts of Gamberyl. Her father was a weaver and her mother spent most of her time trying to manage the March household as well as run daycare of other working parents in the settlement. Since Seneca was the oldest, she often found herself trapped in taking are of little kids. Being forced into such a motherly role when she was still very young is probably part of what landed her such an assertive personality.

Still, whenever she could, she would switch off with her younger brother and help her father with his weaving. However, her father liked to do his work alone, so really, she was off running errands around the settlement, helping the elderly with their shopping and trying her best to stay out of trouble. Although, trouble always seemed to have a way of finding her. You see, one thing Seneca just couldn't stand was seeing someone get bullied. In her younger days, she had a bit of a hot temper and a mouth that did it no justice.

Time after time again, the guards posted up at the settlement from the main kingdom would bring her home after a scuffle. She'd be covered in brushes and scrapes and when her mother would scold her, she would just grin and say, "You should see the other guy!" Unfortunately, her recklessness drew negative attention to her from the other kids her age on the settlement which flowed over onto her brother. Being three years her junior, Khael wasn't quite ready to fight with the big boys. So, growing up, the only respect Seneca got was from the younger kids she helped babysit in the mornings.

When she was fourteen, her behavior had finally driven her father up the wall. She'd woken up that morning to hear her parents arguing over it. Her father just went on about how she was just a trouble-maker and that Khael was a weak boy because of his over-protective sister. It didn't help that Khael seemed to inherit recessive Elven genes from his mother and was slim and slender therefore appearing weak and an easy target. Their father just couldn't live with the disgrace and so he packed up his shop and left them.

With no income, Seneca sat and began to think of what she could do to make up for the loss of their father's business. They hadn't any of the equiptment to continue weaving because he'd taken it. She also felt guilty because her mother was getting a terrible reputation. People began to whisper about how she failed as a wife and as a mother. Senece wanted desperately to restore her family's honor.

It seemed Kirin had heard her prayers. Not a few weeks after her father leaving did military recruiters come through Palax. When she saw them coming from the distance, she hurried home, nearly dumping out the groceries she'd scrounged up some cash to get. She told her mom she wanted to go join the guard. Her arguement was that she was tough enough and it was the perfect opportunity for her to get them enough money to move to a different settlement where they could start fresh and that their family name maybe get some or its worth back.

Her mother was against it at first. She had really been hoping Seneca would grow out of her boyish nature and blossom into a proper young woman. However, as she looked about at their small nearly empty home and Khael struggling with a couple of the toddlers they were watching, she sighed and agreed it was the best thing for fourteen year-old Seneca to do. That evening, while she was saying her farewells, her mother came to her and held out her hand to give her something. When she looked to see what it was, it was her mother's wedding ring. Mrs. March stated she had no heirlooms to give to her daughter and that she wasn't really needing it anymore.

And so, with the promise to write a monthly letter, Seneca departed with the Royal Guard to head back into the main city of Gamberyl. The basic training was rough, but it was nothing the determined teen couldn't handle. She was actually surprised at how many other girls joined the guard as well. At least, enough to fill up a barracks. It took no time at all for Seneca to reach the top of her training class. She first mastered hand-to-hand combat and then moved on to swordsmanship, which took years to master. All the while, she continued to write letters home every month, just as she had promised.

It was when she was about to turn eighteen, just before her graduation she'd already written her mother about, that she got another letter from her brother. Their mother had fallen deathly ill. The doctors couldn't get her feaver down. In a panic, Seneca went to her commanding officer and explained the situation. Since the man had become like a father to her over the past five years, he sent her home to Palax with a healer. Upon arrival, the healer allowed Khael and Seneca a few moments with their mother before ushering them off. They visited their mother's room several times a day but after four days, the healer finally told them that there was nothing she could do. Mrs. March would soon take flight with the Phoenix Goddess.

Distraught, Seneca sent word to her Captain to give him an update. Her graduation was set to be in only two more days. She would end up missing the ceremony to attend her mother's funeral. There were no smiles between the March siblings that say as the smoke rose in a large column into the sky. They watched the flames that engulfed their mother's body dance until there was nothing left but ash for the wind to take to the sky. From that day on, Seneca purchased a long golden chain which she hung her mother's wedding ring on and wore around her neck, removing only to bathe.

After Seneca set up arrangements for their house to be sold, she and her fifteen year-old brother made their way back to Gamberyl. After the long hard travel, she decided that, since she was graduating, she would have to find a place she could live with her brother. Having a sweet tooth, she'd befriended the baker several years prior. Immediately, she went to the bakery and asked if she could rent the room above their storage building (like a garage) that was right next to the shop. The baker looked her brother up and down and said that was fine. She would pay rent and Khael would help out in the bakery.

Little did Seneca know, when she returned to the military academy, a small celebration was waiting for her. The captain as well as her pupils had decided that, since she had missed the ceremony due to such terrible circumstances, they would throw her a little celebration of her own. This was a small silver lining that was the beginning of her career as a knight.

It took her only six years to take her mentor's place as Captain of the Royal Guard. He was aging and wanted to retired and Seneca had always been his favorite student. She had the will power and ambition to preform the her duties properly. She was twenty-four years old. Only three years later was she at the celebration for the princess's departure. Everyone was proud of the princess for going off to live in Themron. However, as months went by and less and less was heard of the princess, Seneca began to worry. When the letter finally came explaining that the king of Themron was planning on attacking Agnilar and was basically keeping her as a prisoner, Seneca was quick to send her best guards on a rescue mission. She also sent others to Agnilar to warn them of the possible threat from Themron.

When only two of her guards returned, the others having been taken captive, she knew that matters could only get worse. Word of an upcoming war and rumors of Blythe siding with Themron soon plagued Gamberyl. Seneca found herself swamped with new recruits for the guard. When she showed up at the gates that morning to see the great number of people waiting to enlist, she stared and blinked in disbelief. Then, a simple grin spread across her face. This is one of those things she lived for: training a royal army all on her own. As long as her brother was safe, she was happy. Hopefully, her next series of events would be something that could make her mother proud.

•Khael is now 24 years old. Seneca only remained living with him in the Baker's apartment until he was eighteen. Giving him the space he needed, she moved back into military housing. She offered to allow Khael to come along with her, but he'd become very fond of Mrs. Baker. She reminded him of their mother. When he turned 21, Mrs. Baker (widowed with no children) asked him if he wouldn't mind officially taking over her bakery because she was getting too old and tired. To this day, Khael runs that little bakery while Mrs. Baker sits in her rocking chair by the fire and knits with her cat, Minaire, purrs at her feet. Khael
