Ok so I've been asking some people/reading around about IV and I'm getting mixed results. Some are telling me IV's are helpful but not all that important/not worth the amount of effort for a minimal difference while others are telling me getting good IV's is a must if you want to battle on wi-fi. @_@ so as you can see I'm a bit confused on the subject. Just how important are IVs?

well seeing as how when they're perfect, they can help your pokemon reach that stat's full potential, and when they're at zero they do nothing but screw you over,i'd say they're quite significant.

IVs are important because every little additional point helps. Even if your Poke's speed is 302 while your opponent's is 301, your attack still lands first and that could be the difference of the entire battle. Obtaining 31 IVs in every single stat is quite mundane, though maxing out specifics can take your game up to a whole new level, so to speak.
