A mission that a friend and I came up with a long while back:
Destroy the Tower!
The defenders have a building of some sort that must be destroyed. Be it a radar tower, a sorcerous relic, a capillary spire, or a Necron Pylon, it needs to be destroyed.
Board size: 6x4
Deployment: Attackers spawn 24" from their table edge. Defenders place their army within 12" of their "Tower," which should be placed at the center of their back table edge.
The Tower itself should be small, no larger than 6" by 6". It has AV14 on all facings.
Objective: The attacker has one and only one goal: To destroy the tower. All damage results but for Immobilized, Wrecked, and Destroyed are ignored. Immobilized counts with the other two as a destroying hit. Depending on the scale of the battle, the tower can have structure points added to it.
The defenders must protect the tower.
-=Edit=- Deployment is on the short table edges.

Sounds an awful lot like the scenario found in the White Dwarf of this month, only replace destroy with capture. Or a bit like Planetstrike, only minus the firestorms, deep striking invaders and emplacements. sweatdrop

Chances are that some of those new missions are designed to push those new kits they'll be releasing alongside it. So you can expect something involving Guard artillery for sure.

Surely that would be insanely easy for offensive Guard.
Turn 1: Medusa/Vanquisher rolls on, fires, tower destroyed. Please insert coins to continue. 3nodding

Destruction might be a bit too easy, but then again, attempting to capture it would result the usual Planetstrike bullshit.
Don't we have a scenarios thread for this kind of stuff though?
