Very slowly, Lightning reached for her hourglass and mumbled a prayer as it inverted itself sluggishly. Sadly, by that point, Arkus had already made his way over to her, and quickly hit her on the head with his staff, much harder than certain ice mages would. Luckily for Lightning, Arkus did trip a bit on a pebble and had to use some of his energy to catch himself.

"Is that all that you all have to offer?" Arkus asked as he turned away from the three. "I will admit... you are doing a lot better than the Little Helper..." He turned around and held his hand out. "Time Stop." He knew that the attack had a chance to fail against Lightning (or those it somehow does not affect), but it was one of his most devastating moves.

Lightning crossed her fingers and quickly gave her time-turner a whirl, not bothering to answer Arkus directly. Sadly, at that point, it was already too late. Arkus had stopped time, and along with it, Lightning. Perhaps if she had been able to predict this move of his sooner, or at least react right when he was attacking, she would have been able to escape. Sadly, she had been late by 2 seconds, and as all time-manipulators (and fans of a certain manga involving a deadly notebook) know, a few seconds can be very crucial to life or death. Lightning was too late, and because of that, she froze in place, her eyes wide.

Arkus walked over to her and nudged Lightning's shoulder a bit, causing her to fall to the ground. "Checkmate," he whispered with a grin.

Nyrk was planning on giving the heretic a good nail to the head, too. "Damn pagan magic," was all he could spit out as he recognized the dead language leave Arkus's lips. Time froze around him, butthe exorcist's God was stalwart. Nyrk expected himself frozen, but grinned almost sociopathically when he found matters had gone otherwise. Taking advantage of his initial entry, Nyrk leveled his vicious nail gun, sending a silver spike through the pagan's shoulder blade. It didn't do as much damage as it would upon a human, but argentium was a strange element, proving itself indispensible once more.

"You... you are very strong to be able to resist such attacks," Arkus said, turning to Nyrk. "But why are you helping a pair of magic users. Aren't you supposed to kill them all?" He pulled the knife from his arm and breathed through his teeth. "I admit, you surprised me with this..." He dropped the bloodstained spike on the ground and his arm hung limply at his side. It actually hurt too much to move.

(Yeah, Arkus doesn't know a thing about anyone except Drathi, so...

Also, at the end of today, the thread will be closed until next Friday, where we'll take him on again. Those who died get 3 new lives and those who are still alove get three extra lives. ^_^ So, Nyrk, you'll have A LOT of lives by the end of today, probably.)

"I hate the sin, not the sinner. Even a tool of war can create peace," Nyrk observed. He shot another spike at the time mage, but this one Arkus deflected easily. "So too can time magic, can it not?" The mage responded. Nyrk's face slipped into a frown as he realized he was dealing with another philosophical foe. "Time magic is a power only God may possess." The exorcist sent out a sacred flame towards Arkus. It singed him, but only lightly. Paying almost no attention to it, the pagan said, "You know nothing of my intentions."

The two exchanged words and blows, until at last, Arkus backed Nyrk into a philosophical corner. Nyrk had grown angry with arguing, and lunged at last at the time mage, who had just the time to send a powerful blow through the exorcist, sending the pious man skidding across the field on his cross.

(Yeah, you have 3 lives now. XD)

"I don't care what my magic is used for," Arkus said. "It just has to be beneficial to me and only me." He pointed his staff at Nyrk and muttered an incantation. "Slow!"

(HEY! He finally rolled something bad! XD)

"One of the seven," Nyrk whispered to himself. "Time is not something mortals should mess with!" He then shouted to the time mage. He flung a stake at Arkus. The mage sidestepped it, spitting back, "I'm no mortal!"

Nyrk's face almost looked like it smirked, if but for a fleeting moment. "Immortality is GOD's alone to possess, heretic." Nyrk took hold of his nailrifle, grabbing the nose with his left hand, then swinging it in a sharp curve. The stock of the gun hit heavily on the mage, knocking him back.

Arkus panted as he spun his staff once more. "I will see you another time!" And with that he disappeared to another time period. When, nobody is sure.

(This is the number we'll have to beat next week. @_@

EDIT: ARE YOU KIDDING ME, ARKUS?)
