Kimono are difficult to find on a budget, and even more difficult to wear. This thread will house links to online shops and sites that will help teach kitsuke. If you know of any good sites that are not listed here, please post them and I will add them to the list!

Shopping resources
Ichiroya - Ichiro and Yuka have a huge selection of vintage and modern kimono, and are always a pleasure to deal with. They will even answer email queries about kimono or items purchased elsewhere. I cannot recommend this shop enough!

Yamatoku - English communication from this shop is not quite as great, but they are friendly and helpful and have lots of nice vintage items.

Antique Ryu-Japan - Ryu is also a pleasure to deal with. Most of his stock ends up on eBay, but the website has some amazing sales.

Kimono Lily - This site is based in the US, so shipping is usually very affordable.

eBay kimono category - Link directly to the Japanese/Kimonos leaf of eBay, good way to avoid some of the knockoff bathrobe items

eBay obi category - Link diretly to the Japanese/Obis leaf of eBay, often also has accessories in it.

Dressing resources
Immortal Geisha web forums - full disclosure, I am a moderator here and good friends with the creator. However, I fully and objectively believe this to be the largest and most comprehensive English-language resource forum for anything kimono related. There are knowledge banks, forums to request help, forums to show off your new finds. If you are interested in kimono and not a member here, what are you waiting for?

Toma-san's guide to kimono (JAPANESE) - This site is entirely in Japanese, so unless you understand it or have access to a translator, it may take some time to navigate. However, she has great little illustrations for every aspect of dressing in kimono, from putting on a juban to tieing your obi. Worth taking the time to navigate.

Kimono De Cheap This site is ugly and hard to read, but don't let that deter you. It's filled with great tips on how to make your own support and dressing items on a budget.
