James entered his second lesson, hoping the students would be more responsive than they had been in his last lesson. They hade better be because he had decided to combine two classes and move the first test up a class, meaning it would be next class, so that they would have more time to focus on the Quidditch portion of the class. That was definately James's favorite part about flying and it was definately what he was looking forwad to the most about his position as a teacher.

"Okay class," James said clapping his hands. "Today we are going to learn about hovering and basic steering. Pay atention because there will be a test next class. Once you are in position on your broom on the ground, kick off hard and you will rise into the air, like this," James demonstrated the technique for the class. "To hover in the air, keep your back straight and your broom forward and steady, as I am doing right now." He paused for a few seconds before continueing. "Now, to turn your broom left or right, just point the handle left or right respectively. To gain altitude, pull the front of your broom up, and to lose altitude, push the front of your broom down. To speed up on your broom, you want to lean forward, and to slow down, you want to lean back. To land your broom, push the handle down until you have lost enough altitude so that your feet touch the ground, lean back to slow the broom down, and stick your feet out, pointing down, so that you can land standing up. Then simply dismount your broom."

"On my whistle, I want you all to kick off and hover in the air for a minute. Then I will blow my whistle again and I want you to practice the techniques I have talked about just now. I will come around and assist you. When you hear two short whistles and a long whistle, it will be time to land and pack up."

James blew his whistle once, waited until all the students were in the air, then waited another sixty seconds and blew the whistle the second time.
