ABOUT THE DRAGONName: Dante (dahn - tay)The Suit: Diamonds (♦) is one of the four suits found in the "international" deck of playing cards. The standard "international" deck uses the French suit system.
In bridge, it ranks third highest of the four suits, above clubs, but below hearts. In some card games of Germanic origin such as Skat or Sheepshead, the suits rank: clubs, spades, hearts, and diamonds. It is popularly associated with wealth or riches; in cartomancy, it relates more generally to material possessions and physical well-being.
The symbol was first used on French playing cards, made in Rouen and Lyon in the 15th Century, around the time that playing cards were first mass-produced by the use of woodcuts. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Suit of Coins or Pentacles is used in Latin suited playing cards, including tarot decks, and corresponds to the suit of diamonds in conventional playing cards. In divinatory and occult tarot it is part of what is called the "Minor Arcana". Like the other tarot suits it contains fourteen cards: ace (one), two through ten, page, knight, queen and king.
In occult and divinatory usage the suit is connected with the classical element of Earth, the physical body and possessions or wealth. Coins as a Latin suit represent the feudal class of merchants and traders, and therefore to worldly matters in general. Associated physical characteristics include dark hair and eyes, dark complexion, and sturdy build.
In the Rider-Waite tarot deck and derivative decks, the suit is called the suit of pentacles, and each card incorporates one or more discs each displaying a pentagram. In the Book of Thoth it is called the suit of discs, and the cards are associated with the Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn signs of the Zodiac. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Dante is also what could be considered the "King" of the group. The king of diamonds in modern day decks is the only one to carry an axe, as opposed to a sword. The French practice of naming cards after mythological or historical figures placed Julius Caesar as the king of Diamonds. The Dragon: Dante is a very practical dragon. He dislikes speculating things, especially if it has to do with money. He's a genius with numbers, and if you give him some money he can take it and 'unfold' it, 'stretch' it...In blunt terms, he can get you more bang for your buck in practically everything. His services don't come free however, and if you're not his friend then they don't come cheaply, either.
He is fiercely loyal to his family, but he is somewhat fickle with his friends. However, his definition of friends is somewhat different than the norm. In his mind you are either family, friend, or an enemy. Family to him is anyone you actually want to live with. Friends are those you can stand to be around, and enemies are the ones you can't stand anywhere near. If you're one of the unlucky few that are his enemies...Well, let's just say he is very well acquainted in this world, and he certainly knows how to make a dollar go a long way.Current Stage: Adult-Librarian- -ToC- -Dragon- -Rider- -Gallery- -Relationships-

RELATIONSHIPSDragon: AzalaeaStatus: -relationship status-Dragon: Cha'alStatus: Dante very much likes to spend time with Cha'al. It was her that first introduced him to their language, both spoken and written. Granted, she only showed him rudimentary skills that anyone could have given him, but Dante still holds her in high regard for the service that she did him. He enjoys speaking with Cha'al about most anything, from philosophical debates to the coming weather.Dragon: CloverStatus: Dante is very loving towards his 'sister'. The two of them were found at around the same time, in the same place, so it was only natural that they grew up together. While Clover was out having physical adventures, Dante preferred adventures of the mind. Dante preferred to be by the fireside, Clover preferred the chill of the wind in her face. Dante lived his life inside, Clover lived hers out. But somehow the two formed a natural bond...Dante became their brains, and Clover became their brawn. And while Clover is older than Dante by a bit, Clover still regards Dante as her "older brother".Dragon: TaisethStatus: -relationship status-Dragon: ValoreStatus: -relationship status-Dragon: WrightStatus: -relationship status--Librarian- -ToC- -Dragon- -Rider- -Gallery- -Relationships-
