Drew this yesterday, finally getting around to posting it.

Little note, before it comes up, the purple of her boots and shirt took 5 shades of purple and even a little brown in the shadows. The black of the skirt and legging, however, was a black colored pencil and a regular pencil. Hair was three shades of red.

Didn't you post the lineart for this before? xd Oh well, I'll go straight for the coloring critique then.

I have no doubt in my mind that you know how to properly color with colored pencils (lightly layer each color), but the color choices are boring. If you want to make purple, you could layer red, blue, and purple together for a more vibrant, interesting purple. Layering purple with purple with purple with purple with purple ends up looking like a very solid purple color, but a boring, safe choice really. I like that you used brown in the shades, it does make her shirt and boots the most interesting in here. However, be more daring with your color choices!

Here's something that all of my art teachers have told me before: avoid using the black colored pencil. As you could see in your own art, it comes out in a dark-gray color. It's okay and a little boring, if all you want is a one-note gray, but to make a beautiful black color, you need to layer a lot of colors together. It takes much more effort, but you can get the most delicious, vibrant black-black you've ever seen.

I will list two tutorials for you, one is a walkthrough and the other is a guide on how to make black by layering. The walkthrough shows how you can get really vibrant, nice colors with a bit of layering (example: to color rocks, a combination of two browns, a green, and a light blue).

ColorPencil: BLACK by Katmomma

Please read through both, and try out my suggestions. At this stage, to improve, you just need to push yourself in unfamiliar territory. Good luck!

To be totally honest, I don't know how far I'm gonna go with color. I'm really only doing one color pic of each of my characters right now purely as a reference. The suggestions are nice, however, if I do decide to actually try with color. Also, when you consider that the lineart takes me two hours to get right, you can understand why I go with safe, boring color choices, cause they're safe!

Also, no, I haven't posted the lineart, but I did post the pencil version.
