The title says it all.
I enjoy writing stories, and seem to be proficient at it, but I'm still working out the kinks of how to role-play. Can someone help me?

Yes, I can. I'm Enjou, and I am a role play tutor. I can teach you everything you need to know. PM me, if you are interested as having me be your tutor. ^_^
Basic Tips:
Write in third person. Not as though you were the character, but as though you were merely a spectator in the clouds. Example: Though she looked tall, she was only slightly taller than Sarah, who could see that it was all in the way she carried herself.
Write in complete sentences. People tend to think highly of you if you capitalize in the right places, and punctuate correctly. I can not tell you how many times I have seen this.
i looked down on him. he jumped out of the way and i shot him.
You want to express your self clearly, so that others can see how good you really are.
Try to broaden your vocabulary and use more descriptive words. Many people think that the sentence in red above is enough of a post. It's not. You want to try and make you're role play as much of a story as any book out there. And that involves descriptive words. Go into detail when talking about a new experience for your character, and really develop your character's personality. Describe to me what that grass looks like, but not overly so. We don't want to talk about it all day. Just describe it to me so that I know what it is, and can almost feel as though I'm there.
Last, I, as a Tutor, don't really care about spelling. Sure it would be nice if you spelled it right, but many people have difficulty on this point. If you can spell it to the point where I know what it is, then I don't care, because I myself have spelling problems.
I hope this was useful to you, and that you will PM me for more in depth suggestions and help.
Enjou
