"Oh, come on, Nepenthe! Cheer up, it's your day off! What are you so grumpy about?" The Caris persisted, bouncing around her companion happily. It was their day off! Why was she mad? Honestly! Some days, the little canine didn't understand her friend in the slightest. Wasn't she happy they had a break from all their training? Well, mostly Nepenthe's training; as a Caris, Cassia didn't go through too much training. She still had her important job, though, so her training was mostly in using what abilities she had, and that included running. Oh, yes, and was she ever a good runner! She prided herself in that, and her memory, which was quite the opposite of her friend's. Her role of message runner was one she enjoyed very much. Oh, yes, how she loved feeling useful. But, why was the crossbreed so upset?
Nepenthe huffed, stamping a dark hoof onto the ground. It wasn't as cold here, so the grass didn't have that satisying crunch whenever she stomped on it. Drek, that always made her feel better. She didn't quite know why, but it just... did. "Isn't it obvious, Cassia?" What was wrong with the little thing? This was awful! It was their day off! They didn't have to do anything at all, nothing! She stamped a hoof again, ears flicking backwards. Now she had nothing to do! She loved her training, perfecting all of her techniques and battle styles - and now they got to do nothing all day! If she didn't pretend to stab someone with her horn today, or if she didn't get a chance to spar with anyone or practice, she was certain she'd go mad. Drek.

[I'll add her picture after I save and resize it so it doesn't stretch the page. ^^;; ]
For Araniel this was quite different. It was a quiet afternoon, the sun was looming overhead, the birds were singing in the air. It was beautiful. She wouldn't choose anything over the serene nature that was all around her. Perhaps not completely sociable herself at times, but she certainly wouldn't ward off meeting others. As long as they didn't completely disturb her rest.
Watching a mother and son bird fly by caused the Icsha to giggle softly. Her tail twitched and she let out a joyful sound before letting herself plop happily to the ground. The air made a soft whoosh sound when the air was pushed out of its space to allow for the female's body to take the place. Her dark blue eyes shown with delight as she began to count the clouds that were swimming by in the blue sky.

Watching her friend snort and stamp about like a little foal who hadn't gotten her way made the canine grin, finally realizing what was wrong. She knew that Nepenthe loved her job and loved her training, so perhaps a play session was in order...
"Can't get me!" Cassia yipped, jumping up and rushing between the now confused mare's legs. She circled quickly, bouncing over to tug at a chunk of the crossbreed's tail before bounding off, unknowingly, towards Araniel.
At first, Nepenthe was completely lost as her friend started bouncing around, acting like some hyper little yipping thing, but as soon as she issued that challenge, the mare grinned and spun around. Too late! The little Caris had already nipped at her tail and was off, and the mare joined her in hot pursuit.
She cantered closer before quickly dipping her head down in an attempt to grab a hold of one of Cassia's tails, but the smart little canine kept taking quick glances behind her and so she flicked her tails out of the way and dodged to the side. Grinning, Nepenthe followed and, with a flap of her wings, became airborne for several seconds before trying to pounce and pin the creature with her forehooves. Of course she wasn't going to, the canine was simply too quick for her, but it was good to get in some target practice.
Cassia grinned as she shot off to the side, looking back to make sure Nepenthe wasn't about to get her. When she looked back in front of her, she noticed that she was coming up very quickly on someone. "Eep!" She exclaimed, putting on the breaks and coming to a screeching halt just a couple yards from the Ichsa mare, hearing her friend come to a similar stop behind her. "Sorry about that, we almost ran into you," the canine said with a sheepish grin. "My name's Cassia, and this is Nepenthe. What's your name?" Hopefully she wasn't one of those types who disliked crossbreeds. They always put the pair in a bad mood, but especially Nepenthe.
