A pair of pure blue eyes stared sadly back at the slender face before the rainbow-patterned mare glared at the mirror-like surface. In an instant, a pale hoof struck out at it, sending her sad reflection into a thousand ripples of blurred colors, and turned away with a heavy sigh before the water calmed and showed her sad reflection staring back at her again. Alone. Alone again.
Alone again, and she couldn't stand it. Who was she to butt in? Who was she to prance in and take her Damon-waru away? And he'd just... He just up and left with her! Without a word! With a huff, blue eyes slanted into a venomous glare as the pale hoof lashed out again, this time sending a rock flying through the air before thudding dully against an elppa tree. Didn't even say a word, and how did that make her feel? She was furious, enraged, angry beyond belief, if she ever saw him again --
If she ever saw him again she'd cry, because she missed him so much her heart ached and she could barely function. He had always been there for her, for as long as she could remember, and she was always there for him - so why did he leave her all alone?
She sighed again, relaxing back into her depressed state before plodding along. She didn't quite know where, but she felt like walking somewhere, anywhere. It felt right.
Not like she had anything to do anyways, now that she was alone again. Again, after she thought she'd found someone to fill the void her brother left - but he was gone, too. She didn't think he'd leave her too, not such a handsome, dark stallion - and his stormy gray eyes were so alluring too - but he did all the same. Would everyone else she got close to leave her? It was starting to look like it.

Walking. Still walking. She'd occasionally stop for a while to graze and rest, maybe nibble some delicious fruit when she was lucky enough to find some, but she spent most of her time walking. She still didn't know why, but she needed to. She wasn't even sure where she was going, either, but hopefully that would come in time. Hopefully, but if it didn't, she knew that she wouldn't care in the slightest.
She heaved a sigh and paused, lowering her head to nibble at the rich valley grass again. It was still impossible for her to wrap her head around things; why did he leave? Why didn't he say anything? Did that mare convince him to leave? She must have, he would have said something otherwise, Calliope was certain. Yet another sigh escaped the dejected mare as she raised her head, and she continued plodding along, thoughts swirling around in her head so much it gave her a headache.
Yet another sigh escaped her and she paused once more, raising her slender head to actually look at where she was headed, considering she'd mostly been walking while staring at the space in front of her forehooves so she didn't trip over anything. Her blue eyes widened as she found herself in front of Shrilal, not right in front of her but still, there it was, a short trip from where she was currently standing. What brought her here? Did... did she have a tree now, from that handsome stallion? If she did, then... would he be there, too?
For the first time in what felt like forever, her heavy heart lightened and she kicked up her heels, galloping towards the fruitlands. It was a slight hope, she knew, but nevertheless her heart grabbed onto it and held it so tightly, much too tightly than it should've.
It only took her a few minutes of racing around the outskirts to find the pair of saplings - one was pure white with rainbow designs, the other a mixture of light and dark browns - both of them beautiful in her eyes, just barely starting to intertwine. Her heart fluttered in her chest as she smiled, looking all around her for the sire, but he was no where in sight. She swallowed, ears flicking backwards as she kept looking. Surely, surely he had felt it too? Surely he was on his way here now, of course.. Why wouldn't he? Yes, of course, he'd be here soon. Of course.
With that thought firmly planted into her head, Calliope settled herself down next to the growing tree and kept watch, waiting, hoping for the stallion to make his appearance.

He wasn't coming.
It had been hours, days, a week maybe, waiting, watching. He wasn't coming.
A heavy sigh escaped her as she lowered her dull blue eyes, staring at the bare ground before her. She'd eaten all the grass around the tree, and had grazed as far away from it as she dared, and was swiftly running out of patches of grass within that limited range. Her stomach grumbled in protest while her mind was on the thought of food, and she flicked her ears back before sighing slightly again.
What was she going to do? She'd obviously need to eat again soon, but there wasn't really any grass left to graze on. Drek...
She really wished he would've came to help...

A rather large mare was making her way around the outskirts of Shrilal, the handle to a basket full of delicious fruits and goodies held tightly in her teeth, as she made strange noises around it. She was simply humming, walking and thinking and humming to some inner beat unheard by anyone else, and humming as best as she could. Normally humming wasn't too loud, not unless someone wanted to make it loud, of course, but due to her teeth being clamped around the basket and her mouth partially open, the humming resonated more and had more volume. More than likely anyone who heard it would certainly not hear the exact same thing as Jezebel was hearing in her head, but that didn't matter to her in the slightest.
She was used to being different, after all.
The dark bay mare halted for a moment as she rounded a copse of older trees, her strange yellow eyes landing on a lone white nequus, a Reya by the looks of it, and probably a mare to boot. Jezebel couldn't help but sigh around the handle, her humming stopped for the time being. It seemed like too many mares were raising foals on their own, which was always such a pity.
At least, they gave her a reason to keep making these sorts of trips.
She raised her right wing in a friendly greeting, offering a wave to her as she'd frequently seen many of the humans do to greet each other. "'ello," she managed to say around the handle of the basket as she made her way towards the other mare. She couldn't go too fast, of course. All the fruit would fall out, and that wouldn't be very good at all.

Calliope hadn't been 'fortunate' enough to hear the other's humming, but the sound of hoofbeats brought a sudden surge of hope. Ears perked as she lifted her head, sky blue eyes searching for that familiar figure --
It wasn't him.
With a sigh, she lowered her head again, ears flicking back. Of course it wasn't him. Why would it be? He wasn't coming, she shouldn't even bother getting her hopes up. It was just some other nequus, an Aeri it looked like just from that short glance. It didn't garner more than that.
She happened to glance up again and saw the bay mare offer a wave with her wing, and wondered what in the world she was doing with one wing up in the air like that? It wasn't anything she'd seen any other nequus do, certainly. But, what was that? A basket? She'd seen one or two stallions walk by with baskets, so she knew they held fruit. Maybe this one did, too, and perhaps.. perhaps this mare could help? "Hello," she said hesitantly, noticing her voice crack slightly from disuse. She hadn't had anyone, or even anything, to talk to lately. The pale mare opened her mouth to say more, but she didn't really know what else she could say, so she cast her blue eyes to the dirt before her and sighed slightly.
By the gods, why didn't he come?

Well, she'd seemed hopeful for a moment, so perhaps she expected her partner to arrive to help, but he obviously hadn't yet. And in Jezebel's opinion -- and experiences, of course -- he never would. Poor dear.
When she'd walked close enough to the other mare, she planted her large dark hooves and carefully set the basket on the ground beside the skinny white Reya. "There, much better. Help yourself dear, you must be famished," she offered as she pushed the basket closer with her soft muzzle, ignoring the bashful and hesitant partial shrug that Calliope gave her. "Now, now, it's nothing to be ashamed about, you'd be surprised how often things like this happen. That's why I'm here, I've taken it up as my job to come around Shrilal every day with a basket of goodies to offer to any needy couples or anyone here that's all alone," the bay said with a nod.
"Oh, before I forget, my name's Jezebel," she said with a polite smile as she suddenly stuck her hoof out in front of the pale mare, who recoiled with a loud, surprised squeal. It took a moment or two before the Aeri realized this one must not greet others by shaking, like the humans did. Drek. Why was everyone she met so strange? "Sorry," she offered apologetically with a sheepish grin. "I live with the humans, and they do that all the time. They like when I do it too, I forget that Nequus don't."

Well, at least she could take a small bit of solace in the fact she wasn't the first - and highly likely she wouldn't be the last - that something like this happened to. She opened her mouth to offer her name in exchange when suddenly a dark hoof was in front of her face, and she recoiled with a squeal while shutting her eyes tightly, expecting to be kicked in the face at any second.
One eye opened hesitantly when she heard the other mare begin speaking again, then opened both and settled more comfortably next to the tree once she saw that - Jezebel, was it? - had all four hooves planted firmly on the ground. "Right..." She said, studying the bay more carefully. Wonderful, here she was, all by her lonesome in Shrilal, and the only one who had sauntered in to help was a daft mare. Oh well, at least she could help. "My name is Calliope," the blue-eyed Reya offered back, meeting the Aeri's strange yellow eyes. She couldn't help but think of the old stories of two-leggers turning into Nequus when she saw them. They were said to have yellow eyes, weren't they? Yes, they were. Maybe this mare was a human at one point - it would certainly explain her strange behavior. "It's nice to meet you Jezebel, and thank you."
