Who: Kyou, Alex, Zul
Where: Lab 305, Tsu's office
When: Mid afternoon
Weather: Windy

The cure is a success! Kyou thought ecstatically as he recalled the incidents that happened yesterday. He drew some blood from Xiu after he woke up from a six hour coma, and his blood was completely clean! No signs of the virus at all. That means the ice theory is correct, and he has Alex and Zul to thank for it.

Maybe I could buy them lunch or give Alex a raise after this all is over. Kyou mused to himself as he turned the knob on Tsu's office door. As the door clicked open a gush of cold wind blew out, Kyou shuddered a little as he entered the freezing room. "Are you feeling better?" Kyou asked Zul as he walked around behind the desk. The demonic Frei had been in the freezing room for an hour at least, with the air-conditioning blowing in his face. Alex was saying that it could help in lowering his body temperature, keep his mind clear for a while. Because with his abnormally high body temperature the needle would melt before it goes under his skin.

Unsurprisingly, Alex asked to stay with Zul in the freezing room. "You alright?" he asked, looking at Alex now with concern in his eyes as he took a seat behind the desk.

The demon tilted his head as the door closed, still unmoving. The room was cold, but he didn't feel it, not really; the heat that pulsed from his skin was unnatural, even given his power. He had listened to Alex talk to him from outside the room, and eventually, he'd heard her come in. Zul had made no move the whole time he'd been transported and all the while the room cooled down; he was locked in his mind, an observer as something else piloted his body. It was all that he could do to war and keep control, although doing nothing at all was just as good as a win.

Slowly, the coldness had helped him get the upper hand in his addled mind. He showed no sign of his progress outside of a flick of his fingers or a twitch of his head, continuing to face the vent with unblinking black eyes. The bleeding stopped and the magma on his hands had ceased to slip from his pores, but it was still there. As sure as he was alive, he could feel that hot tug of something wildly hungry and rage-filled just beneath the surface. It made his grin tick into something raucous and mindless before he wrestled it into a more amused expression. Now that he had control over the minor details such as that grin and the ability to blink, he felt more uneasy.

Zul turned his light-swallowing black eyes to the doctor, forcing himself to blink. "No," he replied in ghost of his former voice, the very edges sounding like nails on chalkboard around the hiss of steam. He closed his mouth and clenched his perfectly healed jaw, not trusting anything else that wasn't a scream to leave his throat.

The woman sighed, her breath pluming into crystals by her lips. She was wearing one of Kyou's jackets over one of the man's shirts, her injured arms hidden from view beneath copious bandaging. "Nervous," she replied honestly, green eyes tired but hopeful. Alex knew it had been a success with Xiu, but the demon was made of two opposing essences - a weakness to the virus as well as that which amplified it. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't scared for Zul. "But ready. Ready for this to end," she added in a soft tone.

The demon simply stared, small coils of steam licking up his skin.

To say that Kyou was not worried about Zul's condition would definitely be a lie. Lazarus's attitude and change of personality after the infection was scary, but the outlooks of Zul was creepier by a mile. Although he was thankful that Zul haven't completely lost his mind. Or so he hoped as he stared into the Frei's dark blank eyes, wondering what is going through his head right now. Whatever it is though, Kyou had no intention of finding out.

Shifting his gaze lower, the scientist eyed Zul's magma-covered arms and his eyebrows creased into a frown on his forehead. Opening the drawer, Kyou took out a plastic packet with a needle in it. "The cure is administered by injecting this into Zul's blood stream." He explained as he held out the needle before him, showing it to Alex more than anyone else. "But as you can see, I think we have a problem here..." his eyes glanced worriedly at the Frei's forearm as he spoke. He wondered if the needle could penetrate through that layer of magma at all.

Alex nodded as the doctor explained what had to happen, her green eyes slowly turning towards Zul's forearms. The magma went from solid black to a soft glow of embers beneath, signalling that it wasn't entirely cool and still a danger. The woman hugged her arms around herself, crossing the office to stand next to the demon, doing her best to put on a brave face. What actually settled into her expression was a stubborn hope, mouth lined with her small bit of fear and eyes dim but determined. This had to be the second hardest span of time of her life...

"We made a promise to you," she told Zul as he stared at her (or so she thought, it was hard to tell without pupils), "that we were going to fix this and cure you." She lifted a hand and put it on his shoulder, feeling the sick heat almost searing in the cold, but she did not blanch. "Now is the time to make good on that promise, Zul. We need your help."

He was looking at her, but he was looking through her too, his focus divided. Zul heard her words and understood exactly what she meant, but he didn't immediately react, instead 'lifting' his gaze towards Kyou again. The demon silently regarded the doctor for a time, weighing the options in his mind - to comply, to help, to hinder. Even with the cold, his reactions were compromised, and it was in acknowledging that simple fact that he knew the virus would not let him be himself if he didn't get cured. Zul didn't want to lose himself.

Warm breath exhaled, crystallizing and falling to the ground in little sharded fragments; slowly, the magma began to creep down the length of his arm and to his hands, receding into his gloves and congregating in the curve of his palm. His arms, while still rather warm, were now free of his sick power. "Help," he said through pursed lips. He'd done his part. It would be the last he could do for a long while if they didn't take advantage of his control.

Green eyes sprung with unshed tears for what felt like the millionth time in the past few weeks. She leaned over and kissed the Frei's cheek, smiling at his startled expression before looking to Kyou with silent permission to do what was necessary.

When he felt the demonic Frei's eyes on him, he was slightly apprehensive but he could feel that there weren't any malicious intent. Kyou doesn't know how he knew that, but he just does.

Kyou didn't need to be told. He got up when the magma receded back to where they originally belong, his hands popping the plastic packet open as he took out the needle. The dark haired scientist was already on his knees when Zul uttered that single, lone word for help. He didn't waste any time as he shove Zul's gauntlets further up his arm, careful not to hurt or agitate the Frei. The skin tight fingerless glove is the last barrier between the needle and Zul's skin now. Kyou needed to see. Reaching towards a table nearby, he grabbed a pair of scissors and he carefully pulled the material up, clipping a hole near his wrist. "I will buy you some new ones later." Now he could see Zul's veins clearly, they were unnaturally dark with a hint of red. Perhaps the remaining hint of what he had withdrawn back into his body? His skin was warm as well, but it should be fine for the needle to go through. Dabbing some alcohol on his skin, the scientist slowly poked the needle through the Frei's skin with precision. His gold eyes rose up to meet with Zul's dark ones as the hydrogen sulfide course through the Frei's veins.

Anytime now.

The demon didn't give any sign of hearing the promise to replace his gloves, simply staring with his fathomless eyes into Kyou's bright gold ones. At first, Zul was motionless, unaffected by all appearances as the yellow vial emptied into him. The change wasn't as rapid in him as it was in Xiu: those light-swallowing eyes blinked, slowly losing their depth and becoming glassy. The pentagram on his brow settled into a darker, blood-red color than the bright crimson it had been before, and even his central horn seemed to dim before giving off a pure white light. A thick sound lodged in his throat as he felt the wariness settle into the very fiber of his being.

For the first time, Zul truly felt cold. He could feel his own internal warmth fighting it, and that worried him, made him question if the weakness of the virus would be enough to overcome its conduit. He shook his head, lidding eyes turning to seek out his woman, who was suddenly behind him. He could feel her arms around his torso, but it was numb, like a bare brush against the outskirts of his awareness. Lips parted to say something, but instead curved into a slow smile, one that remained even as his eyes closed. The darkness that encroached on his mind wasn't the angry nothing of before, but something refreshing, reminding him of a brisk breeze overlooking the ocean.

He welcomed that cold embrace; Zul slumped into Alex, warm brow against her jaw as his body went lax. The demon slept for the first time in his existence.

Silence followed for a time, and when the woman spoke, her voice was low and soft. "I'd like to stay with him," she murmured quietly, her breath stirring the hair that touched her face. He was light, and it was the first time she'd really been able to be there for him and protect him since the madness had gripped him. She knew nothing would happen in the Lab, but Alex didn't want to leave his side until she could see the blue of his eyes again...

"Sure." Kyou whispered quietly. Hazeline had remained by Xiu's side all the while as well, although it was freezing cold in here. "I'll let you two be." He smiled as he stood up. He felt it is the right thing to do, after what had happened to Alex, she deserved some solitude with Zul. Besides, he would feel awkward intruding such a soft yet intimate moment anyway. No reason to be the third wheel here.

Giving a gentle squeeze on Alex's shoulder and a last glance at the unconscious Frei. Kyou stepped out the room as quietly as possible. If the cure works on Zul, it would mean it will work on the rest of the Raevans. The nightmare will be over soon.

The only thing he could do now is wait, wait for Zul to wake up so he could draw some blood to test later. While he wait, Kyou needed to do some research to find another way to treat Lazarus as well. He had no doubts that the hydrogen sulfide would be able to cure him, but there are something else inside of him too - the root of the virus; the original virus cell that started this all. Kyou needed to draw that out of him before the injection. It is a fel essence after all, one of a kind, and so he must find a way to extract it out.
