I turned on my computer and went on Windows Live Messenger. Maxx was on so I started to talk to him.
ZombieZo15: Hey Maxxie, wats up?
MaxxTheStrange13: Hey Zo. Nm, hbu?
ZombieZo15: Same same. Thnx a ton 4 the presnts. They were gr8.
MaxxTheStrange13: Im glad u lykd em. Uh, I wuz wonderin, if you wuld maybe wanna wear the dress 2moro night, and go out with me. smile
ZombieZo15: Id b happy to go out with you Maxxie. smile
MaxxTheStrange13: Awesum. My mom is yellin at me to get off an eat dinner cuz I missed it b4. I’ll tlk 2 u at scool 2moro. Bye.
ZombeZo15: kk. Bye Maxxie smile
I logged off of Windows Live and shut off my computer. To busy myself I cleaned my desk off. After that I started to clean my shelves, then my floor and my closet. After awhile I realized I had cleaned my whole room. I stood in the center of my room and my stomach rumbled. I didn’t eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I decided it was okay to unlock my door and go downstairs to eat. When I walked out of my room and down the hall, I realized Stan wasn’t home and he had left again. I hopped down the stairs and into the kitchen. I stood there for a moment, thinking about what I should eat.

“I know,” I said to myself. “I’m going to have some Spaghetti-O’s.” I walked to the pantry and pulled out the can. I took it to the electric can opener that is hanging underneath the cabinet. When I was little; I couldn’t reach the can opener, so mom would have to lift me onto the counter just so I could open the cans. I thought. I shook my head and went on with what I was doing. I opened the can and heated the contents on the stove. I ate violently.
“Man, I must have been hungry.” I said to myself when I finished the whole can in a few minutes. I cleaned up my bowl and washed the dishes that were in the sink. I glanced at the clock. It was already 8:30. I went back upstairs and gathered my pajamas and a towel. I went into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I waited until the water was hot and got in. I thought about what happened with Stan today before I left. I wonder why he did it. It was just so sudden. I mean, I knew he was drunk, but he had been drunk before and never laid a finger on me. It was kind of weird. I let hot water run over the burn. It didn’t help the pain that was still surging through my arm. I turned the dial to cold and stood directly under the flow of water. I quickly washed my hair and got out of the shower. I dried off and got dressed. When I finished cleaning up and wiping off the mirror, I went back to my room and put my dirty clothes in my hamper. I turned off the light and crashed into my bed. After awhile of lying there, I fell asleep.

I woke up to my cell phone playing Maxx’s ring tone, On My Own by The Used. I answered the phone and there was a loud noise.
“Zoë Thalia Parker, get up now and get ready for school. Jazmine said to wear your new outfit!” Maxx yelled. “This is your 7:00 wake up call.”
“Alright,” I said and hung up. I practically fell out of my bed. I dragged myself to my dresser and dug my new outfit out of the bottom drawer. I got dressed, put on my jacket, and pulled on my shoes. I grabbed my wallet, shoved it in my back pocket and picked my backpack up from off the floor. I walked out of my room and down the hall. As I passed Stan’s room, I heard loud snoring. I glided down the stairs and out the front door. I could see Maxx and Jazmine waiting for the bus at the corner. I ran to them just as the bus was pulling onto our street, Nire Drive. I got to the end of the street, just as the bus was coming to a halt. We all climbed on and went straight for the back. According to all the ‘preps’ and ‘jocks,’ the losers and rejects sat in the back of the bus. I sat next to Maxx in the very last seat on the driver side. We were the last stop before getting dropped off at Harwood High School.
“I can’t wait till tonight.” I whispered to Maxx.
“Me neither. I’ll admit, I’m kind of nervous. By the way, happy birthday.” Maxx whispered back.
I smiled. “Thanks.”
I pulled out my iPod and gave Maxx one of the ear buds. On the way to school, we listened to All That I’ve Got, Fall For You, and Don’t Trust Me. When we got to school we stopped right in front of the doors that were right by mine and Maxx’s lockers. We walked off the bus and I was mauled by someone with black hair wearing a red and black sweatshirt.

“Happy Birthday Zoë!!” said the person enthusiastically. The person let go and I saw her face.
“Thanks Luna.” I said smiling at her. She had the most gorgeous eyes I have ever seen. They were silver with a green tint to them. She had long, jet black hair with bangs that hung right above her eyes. Then, I was attacked from behind and I almost fell over.
“Buon compleanno, Zoë!” said the familiar voice. I knew from the way she talked it was Letana.
“Letana, translation please.” I said to her.
“Oh, right, sorry. Buon compleanno means happy birthday in Italian.” She said.
“Oh, that makes sense. Thank you.” I replied. I looked to my right and saw Dalan walking towards us. When he saw me looking at him at, he cursed.
“Hey, no swearing.” I said to him when he finally reached us.
“Hey, no lip reading.” He teased. “By the way, happy birthday Zoë.”
“Thanks.” As soon as I replied, I was attacked once again. I eliminated all of my other friends and immediately knew that Tora was the one hanging on me.
“Yukai tanjoubi, Zoë!” she screamed loud enough for the whole school to hear.
“I’m guessing that means happy birthday, so thank you.”
“Actually, it means shut the heck up, but you were close.” She joked.
“Thanks for the happy birthday’s guys and girls. It’s time to go inside though.” I pointed to the doors and started to walk. All of our lockers were practically in a row.
