Ummmmmm....
I just thought that the bassoon sounded beautiful, and so I picked it.
My BD got kinda mad when I told him I wanted to play it because, I'm one of three 1st alto saxes in my concert band, and the other ones aren't very good. (I'm in 8th grade and the other is a junior and the other is a senior.)
And also there's like 9 other 2nd alto saxes...
But ya, my BD is making me stay on alto for now, he said he might switch me in the spring but definitely next year!
I've been playing for 2 weeks and I can already play the Bb chromatic scale!!!
BASSOON FTW!!!

i don't play bassoon. never have. probably never will. but one time, we were in hawaii for a band competition. we were watching this concert band, and their bassoon had a little rubber duck on top. we thought it was really funny. so now we ahve an inside joke. there's a duck in your bassoon. (and you're all band people. so think about it)

I picked it because it sounds awesome, it is large so I can threaten people with it, and lastly because our clarinet section was growing too fast and it got really crowded.

I luv bassoon. It has really deep notes and it is hella awesome. Most people think i'm weird cuz i play it but their haters.

I was originally playing oboe and we had three, so I switched to bassoon :]
I love the low notes - and the A extension sounds sooooooo awesome!
Also, it's a great weapon. I can't count the number of people I've whacked on the head with it "accidentally." rofl
Does anyone else get the "OMFG it's a huge a** bong!?" thing?
I get that EVERYWHERE.

Well, I heard it in an classical piece that I really liked, and then I got to sit behind them in 10th grade. I really wanted to play it from that point on.
