The very beginning of the Volcano. It's likely you'll all meet up here before the beginning of the adventure.
Nearby a small outpost has been set up made up of a few tents and the whole food stock for the year. It exists for the sake of those who don't wish to climb but would rather just stand around and wait for the problem to sort itself out. Unfortunately that probably won't happen.
Of all the places in the Waffle Volcano this is the coldest, reaching a level not too unlike that at the ground.
Surrounding the volcano is a sea of syrup, it's slowly encroaching on the camp so everyone has to keep moving, it's a lose lose situation.
It should take about two posts of climbing to reach the midsection of the volcano, two good posts.

Kaede Yui reached the edge of the volcano, the outer parts overflowed with a sea of syrup, and an outpost just the likes of the One Ton depot that Scott placed on his journey trying to reach the South pole first - only here, it wasn't that cold, obviously. The temperature wasn't much higher than anywhere else on the school grounds, but it was clear that it would rise with going up the tasty slope.
The kidou teacher's eyes searched the surroundings for others, another soul that came to the rescue of the academy. It seemed she was the first to make it here - or maybe they didn't care if the school gets ravaged and devoured by this insatiable waffle monster. Kaede decided to wait for a bit, to see if anyone else is going to show up. Teachers should be here, defending the school. Assistants as well. Did the volcano get to them before the messages did? And students... Maybe she was expecting too much, but the Dango students were surely capable... and the Senbei were traditionally bold... She waited, observing the surroundings closely, suspicion reflected in her eyes as she examined the tasty waffle slopes, combined with worry that creased her face in unnumbered wrinkles.

Caeles wandered towards the waffle volcano, idly munching a handful of waffle he had grabbed on his way to the outpost. With his white hair blowing behind him in the wind, the Head Researcher surveyed the area, his golden eyes taking in every detail as he looked towards the volcano.
Dipping his waffles into a small stream of syrup, Caeles walked over to Kaede, finishing off the waffle as he stood next to her. "We're the only ones here?... Do we get to eat the volcano?... Hey! There's a tree!" Sighing slightly at the foolish comment, Caeles turned in time to see a river of molten syrup melt it's way through a tree.

Kaede's face showed a slight sign of relief as she noticed the Head Researcher. At least one more did care for the fate of the Academy. She answered his rethorical question, though it was quite obvious. "So it seems. Maybe they haven't heard... or maybe they've already been devoured...?" Her voice trailed off dreamily, imagining the horrors of the man- or more precisely shinigami-eating waffles. Her eyebrows raised at the mention of eating the volcano. "Eat it? Who knows, might even work... But you'd need a continent of hungry souls to eat this whole thing." Despite the fact that her voice sounded rather pessimistic, she still had her hopes up that more teachers and students will appear.

Lilyth walked towards the towering white mass that had now taken residence in the center of the school grounds. Curiosity twinged at her observant grey eyes as she drew close enough to see that the mound was infact a great white wafflecano. She giggled at the word wafflecano until she noticed the great pool of corrosive syrup that surrounded its base. The sound of talking drew her attention from the acidic syrup to Kaede and Caeles. She walked towards the two conversing adults with a look of sheer curiosity. "Um, may I ask what in the world that thing is?" she knew it sounded stupid to be asking but the tiny girl could not quite fathom how a waffle could become a giant white volcano and syrup could eat away at the ground around them.

Ryoma was a little over ten yards away from the volcano's base, when he noticed the figures of three people standing near the base, he couldn't make them out very well, but they appeared to be teachers rather then students. He started to wave his left hand as he ran, shouting. "Hey! Are you three alright? He called as he aprpoached, the magnitude of smell eminating from the waffles was disturbing to him. He'd smelled waffles before but not in this vast ammount, or shape either.

Kaede's eyes widened in surprise but great approval as well as she noticed two students coming their way. Although she hadn't abandoned her hopes, she didn't exactly expect students coming here before most of the staff - however, it was a most pleasant surprise. "Ioma-san, Hiyame-kun, good of you to have come here. This, as you might see," she waved with her hand towards the giant mass of waffle ahead of them, "is the waffle volcano. Its objective seems to be to demolish and devour anything in its path, and we must seek out its weak spot and destroy it...before it destroys us." She looked back up to the two students, examining both of them with her gaze, her eyes gleaming with determination. "We need to seek out some kind of a central intelligence, like brain or something, and destroy it. It's all uphill from here. Can I count on you?"

The tiny strawberry blond student listened intently to Kaede as she spoke, contemplating on whether or not a waffle even could have any intellegence but knowing that it must because of the simple fact that it sprung out of nowhere. A sly smile crossed her face as she thought about how much fun it would be, the adventure to find the intellegence of a giant wafflecano that was trying to devour the shinigami school! I would make for great experience and fun and would look excellent on any application, execpt the fact that it sounded utterly ludicrous. She beamed up at Kaede as she spoke her next few words with complete exhuberance, almost to much exhuberance, "Of course you can count on me. No matter how insane or dangerous it may become, I will undoubtedly have a serious amount of fun!"

Ryoma stood at attention, doing a salute as a military soilder might have, "Yes MA'AM!" he said as he pulled out his black gloves from his pockets, putting them on his hands and tightening them. "I'm ready whenever you are!" he added, finishing the last glove.

A gleaming smile spread across Kaede's face, probably the first time she let her feelings show in front of the academy students. Her eyes glistened with anticipation, and determination to perserve the Academy. "Excellent. Let's go! There's no time to lose." With that, she turned her back to the outskirts of the tasty lands, and started climbing the edible slope, her feet sinking into the waffle dough, syrup melting the path away. I should've brought some climing gear, or at least ski poles... She chuckled silently at her own lack of forethought, and continued the struggle with the tasty mountain, slowly moving up the slope.

Lilyth followed the deputy head mistress up the slopes, slipping and sliding often and trying very hard to keep her balance on the squishy waffle. Out of curiousity she grabbed a hand full of the slope and sniffed it smelling its amazing waffley goodness. To take it a step further she attempted to take a bite before thinking better of it and throwing it back down and heading farther up the slopes.

Ryoma watched them heading up and nodded. Taking a small step back he dashed forward giving his best running jump at the mountain of waffle as he could. His feet planting into the waffle, he yelped in surprise as he pulled his feet out of the waffles. They were warm but he didn't feel like relaxing his feet in waffles of all things.

Caeles tilted his head slightly as the students approached, grinning slightly as the plan was outlined. Any plan consisting of "Destroy it" must be good. As the others dashed away towards the higher levels of the volcano, Caeles chuckled slightly as they struggled against the strange footing of the waffles. After observing the group for a minute, Caeles drew his sword from the umbrella he carried and reversed his grip on it, holding both the umbrella and the sword in a hand each with the ends of them pointing down. Sprinting towards a steeper part of the volcano, just below a plateau, the Head Researcher leapt towards the waffle walls and stabbed the umbrella and sword into it, before starting to scale the waffled heights.

Ren ran in little steps toward the outpost at the foot of the volcano.
"Hello? Anyone still here? I guess I'm late again ..."
She looked at the fiery mountain from top to bottom, trying to find the easiest way in. Tracing the mountain's surface down to the bottom she realized it was surrounded by an ever-expanding river filled with a syrup-like substance, flowing around the volcano like a river of lava. The woman approached the riverbank cautiously, squat down and observed the thick brownish liquid. An abundant smell filled her nose, making her even more curious. She slowly stretched her arm into the 'lava' river, squinting her eyes as the tips of the fingers protruded into the mix of brownish red tones, expecting a sudden flash of heat and immense pain striking her body in the exact same moment. Instead, she felt her hand become sticky, as if covered with glue. Pulling her hand out, she put it to her nose and smelled it carefully. Smelling the sweetness, she rubbed the tips of her fingers together, examining the consistency of the river content.
I could swear this looks like...
Putting her doubts aside she licked one of her fingers. The sticky sweet taste of syrup filled her mouth, making her giggle at her findings.
She stood up and followed her the path, which she believed her comrades had taken before her.
