Today she walked into my room today and said "I think I might be cursed." I asked her about it.
Okay, so ever since my dad has gotten married to her, bad things have been happening to the people she cares about. My stepbrother had cancer, my stepsister got in car accidents and abusive relationships, and there is so much drama going on with her eldest daughter, I can't even mention a fraction of it. Her ex-husband's wife has claimed before that she thinks she has "psychic powers" or whatever, and his wife really hates my stepmom. My stepmom feels that maybe his wife could be affecting her some way.
She told me that she could be causing it, or it could be psychological, she doesn't know exactly, but because of all the drama that's been going on to her loved ones and her, she thinks that maybe she really is being sent a bunch of negative energy. She tells me that no matter where she is, she can feel this hatred on top of her, and it won't go away. She's normally a very scientific person, so when she comes to me for advice, I know that she really means it and really needs help.
I told her that the fact that she worries about it probably attracts more, and that it is possible that she is being sent that bad energy. I told her that I think the best way to get rid of it really is to meditate and try and push it away and keep a lot of positive energy. I haven't put much thought in defensive magick before though, so I was hoping you guys would have advice/some protection techniques to help her get rid of this bad energy that she feels is covering both her and her family.
So far, I don't believe that this energy is affecting me, but my stepmom has begun to get closer to me, so she actually warned me to "watch out." That is how worried she is. So any type of advice or shielding, etc, would be really great.
*UPDATE*
Okay, so my step mom told me just barely that she went to a psychic today. The psychic knew a lot of stuff. She told Suzie these things:
"You have a beautiful aura, but someone is blackening it. They are targeting members of your family. They've been doing it for 7 years. The person is not a 'psychic,' they are an 'evil wiccan'. I can help you break down these walls, but it will take about a year or so."
It's what my stepmom suspects: Her ex husband's wife is targeting her and her family. What are your opinions? Any other advice? I think she's gonna take the lady's help, though it's expensive, but I think she's legit.

You have the right idea. Our fears and beliefs in such things makes the effects stronger and more noticable. Usually recognizing that the negative energy isn't ours and asking it to return to its source is effective. Something too is to be cautious about ownership. Once we start claiming such energy as ours...it is ours. (ie I have a cold, I've been cursed)
Barriers and shields will offer protection. Usually visualizing a small bubble inside the chest then filling it with positive energy and let it expand and grow until it surounds a person works.
other things are prayers, smudges/aura clensings.
I hope things are better for your family.

Personally, I'd be very cautious.
I'd be interested in knowing what conversations took place with the psychic before and during the meeting to find out how much your mom told the psychic and how much was actually sensed. All it takes is for the psychic to learn of your moms fears and they can take advantage of it.
I'm hoping she is legit, but I don't think it should take a year.

I'd be interested in knowing what conversations took place with the psychic before and during the meeting to find out how much your mom told the psychic and how much was actually sensed. All it takes is for the psychic to learn of your moms fears and they can take advantage of it. I'm hoping she is legit, but I don't think it should take a year. She said it would take a year supposedly because she talked about removing the bad stuff not just from Suzie, but also her family members.

how many sessions is this going to take or does your mom pay a certain amount and the psychic will spend a few hours a day working on it

The year thing is what is throwing me off, that just doesn't sound right to me. I am not saying that she is to not be trusted but it just seems odd.

Agreed
Mind you depending on the amount of energy that was used in making the curse might vary the length of time to dispell it. But personally, I don't see how it would take anything more than a month. But then admittedly I'm not wiccan or know much about voodoo.
