Hi everybody. For starters I see that a lot of you have been using Zippora7 in appropriate matters. However just recently the guild's bank account recieved several letters. I'll place them here but I won't mention who the senders were for privacy reasons:
"Hey DMC how are you? I need to talk to you about your guild. I think I've been hacked by a member who has promised to give me something in exchange for gold. I sent them my gold through trade and they haven't given me the items that I asked for yet."
"I've been hacked! I think its the same person that (annonymous1) is talking about. Their story is just like mines!"
"DMC, I'm not sure if said person is the same person who has scammed me and several of my friends within the guild, but if they are I want them to be banned."
These are just a few of the many of letters I have recieved regarding a member scamming and perhaps hacking other members. So as a precaution I want you to do the following:
1. STOP! THINK about what they are asking from you.
2. Are they asking for your password and any other accounts that you may own as well as their passwords as well? If so report them! This may seem like you are being a snitch, tattle tale or whatever you call it but you're saving yourself from being robbed of all of your hard earned work. Besides you never know you might be serving justices for those whose already been hurt by this person but most importantly you're saving any future people that the criminal comes in contact with from hurting future members. And don't listen to them if they say not to tell anybody. That's a very big warning that they are a thief
3. If you come in contact with any suspicious members who are asking for private personal account information or real life information don't be afraid to send me a private message. In fact if you feel threaten, email DMC2007. As captain it's my job to try to protect you within my guild and if there is a thief on the loose I need to know about it so I can kick them out of the guild. Just like gaia guidelines for suspicious users, pm me everything from conversations that you had with the user and all. The more I know the sooner I can build up enough evidence to kick them out of the guild forever.
4. I also know that scammers have this bad. They will ask you to start the trade so that way it will appear that you're problem. This is because they are smart enough to know that if they get you to start the trade they can force you to either accept or cancel a trade. And guess what most people will do in a situation like this? They'll accept the trade and that's exactly what the scammer wants because as soon as they accept they can't change unless they quickly cancel. But here's a trick: Tell the person theirself to set up the trade that way you can be in more control over the trade. If you don't see any gold or items the first time the trade is visable to your computer DON'T ACCEPT IT! Instead report it to gaia admins and to me as well especially if you met them in the guild. The soon I know the quicker they'll get kicked out of the guild. Like I said before, you might be saving other members from future scams from the person.
