Aki looked thoughtful again, likely trying to figure out if she had a way that could help locate him. But, seeing as Gabriel shifted the subject away, she decided to wait for now. She closed one eye as he pinched at her cheeks, then swatted his hands away, nose wrinkling as she rubbed at her face. "Heeey, I'm not a kid," she pouted. Though, she sort of was, and on her shoulder, Zexon rolled his eyes and then clambered to settle on her head instead, half buried in her bright blue hair.

"Well then... Let's do something!" she cried, throwing her hands in the air. "Something fun! ...what is there to do here?" she added curiously, glancing around. "I don't know when the food's starting, so we have to waste time, I guess. Um..." She blinked again, looking up at one of the towering cacti nearby. The thought of climbing it popped into her head, but she decided not to announce that aloud. It probably wasn't safe, what with those thorns.

"Um, we could check out the dorms, a palace, a poo-" Oh, right. Boys swam shirtless. Going to a pool wouldn't be great for her.

"Okay, I'm sorry," Gabriel laughed as Aki swatted his hands away from her. "Let's see. What to do, what to do..." Gabe knocked his head, trying to come up with something. "Well, I guess we could take a walk further into the gardens, or maybe we could hit the old section. But maybe we could do the pool, if you have, let's say, a shirt or swimsuit you could slip on." Gabriel shrugged.

"So, do you have any other suggestions?" He asked.

"A pool probably wasn't the best idea," she admitted with a grin. "I miss being able to swim... Maybe we can while everyone's sleeping?" She nodded lightly to herself and then spun in a slow circle, with a hand over her eyes as if shielding them so she could see for miles. This wasn't really the case, but she did suddenly stop and point in a specific direction.

"Want a break from the heat?" she asked brightly, beaming up at him again with her arm still pointing. "There's supposedly a frozen section or something. We could make a snowman! A-ah..."

She paused, glancing down as Zexon skittered off her head and disappeared into her bookbag again. She frowned, but just ignored it, and turned her attention toward Gabriel to wait for a reply.

"Sure, I don't mind going when everyone else's is sleeping. At least it'll be a great convenience to you." Gabriel fanned himself with his hand. "Yeah, I guess it is getting a little hot. I wouldn't mind checking out the frozen section, if that's alright with you."

Gabe noticed Zexon's reaction. "What's with him?" He asked

"Okay!" Akimi cried excitedly. She really wanted to swim, since the chances were so few with the care she had to take now. It definitely was great to have someone finally know. Such a huge, huge relief~

"Yeah, I don't mind!" she quickly added, excitement only growing when he agreed to visit the palace as well. "Good thing I brought a sweatshirt," she added with a giggle, tugging at one of the sleeves that was tied about her waist.

She turned to go, but paused when he asked about Zexon. "Oh, him? I think he's just mad that I told a secret. I wasn't supposed to, so you really have to super promise not to tell!" she said, for a second looking sternly up at him. Then the expression faded and she was grinning once more. "Now, let's go! To the lizard palace!"

[from the airship tralala]

Caspian was struck by the strange beauty of Rajah's (undoubtedly very sharp) fangs as she smiled, but had the presence of mind not to stare, knowing that for some people such features caused them distress and they became paranoid about others looking too close. He'd spent a few days with the (toothless) bearded woman and he was a quick learner (thanks to her banshee-like shrieking every time he peered for more than two thirds of a second at her empty, swollen gums). He coughed and shifted his weight in the direction of the airship's door as he slung the suitcase carefully across his chest, lest the ragged strap break.

"Uh...after you?" he offered, gesturing with a sweep of his hand, but Rajah had begun to make her way toward the exit before he'd spoken. He grinned and traipsed after her, his dark-blonde hair flopping about his ears. In her hands was a wrinkled piece of paper, creased all over, which he hoped was a map of the planet, as he hadn't one. He let her lead the way and admired the walk there, his soft blue eyes glittering with excitement. He focused on the green spot as it neared them and bounded ahead as he spied the gates, mountainous tropical pillars painted orange and blue, guarding the opening in the foliage. Cas whirled around to face Rajah and pointed at the numerous trickling fountains and the spiny cacti; he resembled a child on his first visit to the zoo, but he took no notice. "Look at this, how cool!" He cautiously touched one of the spines on what appeared to be a saguaro with the pad of his index finger, but withdrew it speedily. "They really are sharp," he murmured, still a bit amazed by the sight of so many desert plants. "Have you ever seen a cactus before?"

Ooc| Tralala? Okay then...

Bic| Rajah laughed Cas, who apparently didn't know that cacti were sharp. "Have you ever seen a cactus before?" Cas asked. "I've seen them in pictures," Rajah replied, "but never up close." She looked around at the scenery, at the beautiful trees, cacti, ponds, and fountains, at the birds fluttering around. "This place really is beautiful, isn't it?" she asked, intending for it to be a thought. but accidentally making it whispered words. Cas seemed to be as in awe as she was, but showed it through excitement. "Funny how a place that seems so... primitive... can be so beautiful, no?"

Ooc| Sorry for the shortness. You're much more descriptive than I am!

[it's okay (: it's probably something that you can pick up over time, i guess. did you read the introductory post on the front page? it might give you something to work with for descriptions.]

Cas lifted his head and frowned indignantly as Rajah laughed at him. "Hey, I knew they were sharp, but I've never seen one in person, either, so I had to try it for myself!" he pouted, letting out a sharp breath through his nose. "We didn't have lots of pictures at the...uh, where I'm from, so...um. I read some botany books, though. Plants and things. There were some cactus pictures. Don't they look like strange men, with their arms and everything? How funny." He dropped his eyes and peered at her out of the corner of his eye, wondering if she'd caught his momentary slip, but so far she didn't seem terribly bothered. Hopefully she'd think he just talked faster than he thought...which would make me seem a bit slow...so maybe not...but augh! I don't want anyone to know about it... He turned his attention down to the cactus next to which he'd crouched and identified it correctly as a prickly pear. "Yes...it's really pretty," he grinned, standing up again and breathing in the fresh, dewy scent of the garden. He readjusted the suitcase so it rested on his right hip and strolled over to a pond, leaning over it. The still surface became a mirror, every outline impossibly sharp and exact. He blew over it gently until the water stirred, then jumped back suddenly as a fish leaped from its depths. Landing on his back, Cas righted himself and laughed sheepishly, rearranging the suitcase again.

He nodded, grateful for Rajah's observation to distract him from the awkward moment. "There's more beauty in the primitive things that haven't been touched by man...We ruin everything we touch, but we can't help it."

Rajah laughed again. "But why? Why not just trust that they're sharp and leave it at that?" she asked, shaking her head. This boy wasn't making any sense. The cacti looked like they hurt; why would anyone try and see if they actually did?

Fortunately for Cas, Rajah been off in her own world when he had been talking, so she did not notice his slip. However, if she had heard it, Rajah probably wouldn't have thought much of it. She wasn't telling him everything about herself, (in fact, she was leaving out details many people might think were important) so why should he have to tell her everything about himself? Exactly.

"There's more beauty in the primitive things that haven't been touched by man...We ruin everything we touch, but we can't help it," Cas stated in response to her comment about the primitive beauty of the planet. Rajah nodded. "It's... sad, if you really think about it," she said. "We rely on modern technology - cellphones and computers and things - but the Treachus wouldn't even dream of having stuff like that, but they don't have to, because they have this!" She sighed. "Sometimes I wonder why God - if there is one, that is - is letting us destroy Earth like we are. Why we aren't still like this." Rajah looked up into Cas's grey eyes. "Do you do that too, or am I the only one?"

Ooc| Is her speaking color too bright? I can change it if you want.

"Oh, oh." Cas smiled knowingly and tapped the side of his chin with the tip of his forefinger. "But appearances can be, and often are, deceiving. Why should I take this cactus at face value? What if its spines are merely camouflage and they don't actually hurt?" He giggled, suddenly slightly nervous. "Obviously this one is as it looks..." His sheepish smile and blush faded by degrees and he turned his attention to the flowers in the area. He loved flowers in his secret heart, but feared to let other people know lest they think less of him as a man. He tended to be overly concerned about his manly image, though truly he adored cute, pretty things. His sigh resounded through the gardens and he knelt down to smell what looked like a bird of paradise, gently passing his fingers over its velvety-silk smoothness, humming under his breath. He wondered if there were birds about, and began to imagine the kind of creatures a planet like this one might boast. Perhaps they appeared just as Earth's creatures, as the cacti and the fish seemed to do, but there was no way of knowing. He stood and peered around, trying to see if the trees harboured any birds, but he couldn't make anything out, and he wasn't willing to put his face close enough to the pond to see the fish again - it had nearly scared the death out of him.

"The Treachus are really wise, aren't they..." Cas expelled his breath suddenly, apparently resigned to the fact that humans would never be as such. "What a shame." He considered her speculations regarding a higher power and decided, "If there is a God, or even more than one, I doubt he could spend every moment preventing us from doing stupid things. If he made us, he probably then just let us do what we wanted. Like a great big experiment." He bit his lip; he was always uncomfortable discussing theology, though he had studied it a bit in books and had formulated surprisingly decisive beliefs for someone so young. "I think about it too...but no one other than humans can be blamed for Earth's destruction. If God gave that planet to us, it was our responsibility to take care of it, and we didn't." It seemed simple enough to him, but he knew that there were likely more difficult questions at hand. "We just don't know what to do with responsibility, I guess. I mean, if you think about it, humans are still learning too. We got organised with government and education and social systems and everything, but it seems like just a facade for the people we could be underneath all this learning and sophistication. There are still lots of things we don't know, and maybe can never know.

"Doesn't that suck?" he grinned, his bright face full of wanton cheer as Rajah looked into his eyes. He returned the gaze thoughtfully as he continued musing inside his head. Often questions of religion got very confusing and difficult very fast, and he was afraid he'd already said too much.

[maybe a little xD
on a side note, i suck. and school sucks.]

Rajah smiled. "Yeah, it really does suck," she said, giggling. "But, I suppose you're right. I mean, yeah, he... he must..." she stuttered, having trouble finding her words. "He must have better things to do than watch over us 24/7. That's our parent's job, isn't it?" she laughed. Finally realizing that Cas was looking back into her eyes, Rajah blushed and looked away. Boys were not her strong point; all of her schools had been all-girls academies. In fact, Cas was the first person her age of the opposite gender she had really spoken to.

Rajah's gaze wandered to the "tropical desert" scene around her. She wasn't sure how those words fit together, but somehow, they did here. There were beautiful flowers and fountains one place and cacti in another. She had never seen anything like that, and, for a moment, grew jealous of the Treachus for being able to obtain such beauty. She was sure there was nothing like this on Earth. Without realizing exactly what she was doing, Rajah slowly walked forward and sat down on the edge of a fountain, moving her fingers to drift across the water's surface.

Lucien perked his head as an epiphany suddenly struck him. What was he doing in the garden? He could be better spending his time at the library! The local repository of knowledge and intellect- and what better way to assess the nature of their culture than to examine their children's tales? Humanity emphasises ambition and notions of destiny, love and hope. This was effectively carried down to their fairy tales. Now what could these fascinating reptiles be teaching their brood?

Lucien faced her, speaking as if he was testing the sterness of her words and the strength of her resolve, "Truly?" Almost without waiting for an answer, he grabbed Evie's wrist and led her down to the library, "Then, what are we waiting for? Let's go! Time is a-wastin'!"
