(((Grammar Nazi ninja ))) No, and I don't want to. First, look at the author of the book that the movie is based from. That in and of itself makes this a moot topic. On the bit about the Mayans, that is paranoia. We think the world is going to end because a centuries-old civilization decided to call it quits on making a calendar. Would you want to write a calendar that never ends? Thought not. I think we covered this topic in another thread, perhaps he GD thread. Nothing more than paranoia. Same as Y2K bug. The world is not going to end. Face it. The entire reason it has gotten like this is because we ask ourselves the "what if?" question. Don't let that control you. Face the facts.... And for the second coming theory, Matthew 24:42-44 (New International Version) 42"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

We've already had a topic like this earlier that wasn't about the movie, but the theory.
There's also plenty of refutations of the 2012 "theory" on the net, such as here (it also deals with the events in the 2012 movie). It's a theory originally developed by New Age wackos then some geniuses decided to try to make it look scientific. It's a fraud, and I'll gladly make this bet with anyone who believes in the 2012 scam: Give me a check for a hundred thousand dollars that isn't redeemable until December 22nd, 2012. If the world ends, you win. If not, I've got an extra $100k and you're a brainwashed sucker.
If anything significant happens during 2012, it'll be because of the hype it's been receiving and not because of some Mayan "prophecy" which wasn't even meant to be prophetic.

I heard that the media are going on about that theory simply to hype the movie. Not sure how true it is. Anyway, I'll give the answer I always give:
OF COURSE THE WORLD WILL END IN 2012, JUST LIKE IT ENDED IN 1914, 2000 AND 2006.

I watched it . . . sometimes I really don't like how well-developed special effects are nowadays. The idea is moot, of course, but watching it was weird, like almost scary. All those deaths, millions in a matter of minutes. . . :/

I havnt watched the movie, but I have a theory about 2012. It goes like this:
To begin, the recent earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, and smaller ones else where the earth axis has actually shifted (a small number of degrees, but even a small amount means a lot) making our days much shorter. And, even though, I don't think the world will end in 2012 I do believe that it will change drastically. The exact date that the mayan calander ends (January 1, 2012) is the day that (scientifically proven) that all the plants will realign in a straight line (first time in recorded human history). Note at the time of this alignment it said that the earth will be closest to the sun then it ever has been. Also, one theory that scientist have is that in 2012 during the alignment the sun will let off a series of solar flares that are so large that they could quite possibly engulf the earth. I personally think, that the solar flares will occur, but won't be large enough to engulf the earth. My theory is that the earths climate will change drastically causing mass histeria. Most of the deaths that occur will be due to people acting stupid (big cities affected the most). Just people buying out supermarkets, people freaking and stealing food from others. Altho, recently I heard a interesting theory about the moon coming crashing down to earth creating a huge creator enough impact to shift the earths axis even more then the earthquakes. Just horrible horrible weather patterns is what I predict. More earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, worse tornados and hurricans. Just everything we expierence now with 10 times the impact. (got lazy at the end sorry)

(got lazy at the end sorry) 1st, the day is shorter by one nanosecond. Not much of a difference xd 2nd, can't predict solar flares like that 3rd, the bible says that there will be earthquakes in many places that the whole earth will feel. Haiti is a perfect example of it. The whole earth "felt" that and rushed to aid or felt moved by it. BTW, I have seen 2012 now. Graphics were nowhere near as good as everyone was making them out to be. What the movie has going for it: Subway train flies higher than a plane. That's about it. Phail movie.

Watched it...it was entertaining...if it can even be called 'entertaining' The world isn't going to end in 2012, the mayans probably just got bored and decided to call it quits like Haven said. stare
No one but God knows the exact time the world will end. They mayans couldn't predict it nor can anyone else.
