It's a very deep song, with a lot of meanings and Jim said once that it is whatever you want it to mean to you. So what does it mean to YOU!?

When I hear this songs lyrics it always reminds me of a person who is wise whose been smoking weed and is talking stuff which nobody else understands but the words actually have a lot of meanings. Karl Marx, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins and Friedrich Nietzsche high, I'd give everything to get high with those persons, except maybe my bike. And that's how I think of The End.

I feel to me the song is about death.
Jim was obsessed with death and, some of the lines
show a meaning of death like
"So limitless and free" death was freedom to Jim.
Then just the word "The End" has a controversial statement,
for me it would be the end to life. : )

Yes he was. And then again who isn't? I think everyday what's there after death and how all my woes would go away if I dropped dead right there, death really is freedom but what it leaves behind that's what hurts.
By the way, your username is a great song.

Iron Maiden is one of my favorite bands, I regret heavily for not being able to attend their concert this February in Serbia. My username is also from a song. But I do play the violin, then again I just fiddle around with it.

Ya man,
I would've been able to see them last summer,
but I was in Toronto and saw Judas Priest with Dio (sabbath) Motorhead and, Testament.
Violin is a difficult instrument I personally play guitar and, keyboard : )

I feel that the end is what it will be like when you die if you dont believe in seeing other people on the other side of life so you only have one thing to befriend for eternity. The End.

During "When You're Strange" documentary it stated that it was written when Jim broke up with his high school girlfriend.
I however feel that it means multiple things. It symbolizes hope for when no is there for you, death is. When you've been betrayed, back-stabbed and even lied to, there is a way of getting rid of the pain of human society and selflessness.

I think The End is very cool, but mostly drunken gibberish along with some memories of his childhood
