Anyone wanna say anything? we haven't had to much activity lately so we have the general all purpose spam thread of Judaism.

I'll start...

Hanukkah is coming up, what's your Hanukkah Menorah made of?

Glass, Pottery, Metal?

and what's the fuel source

Candle Wax, Oil, Electrical.

Find any nifty Menorahs online that you want to share with the rest of the group?

DISCUSS!!

I've got a collection of menorot. There's a silver-colored electric one made of plastic, with blue flames, that I put in the guest bedroom window which faces the street. There's another one that's electric, but made of brass, and it goes in my bedroom window, which also faces the street. I'm thinking of getting another electric one for the living room window because you can see it from the sidewalk and part of the street if you crook your head. They're electric rather than with real flame, because real flame would burn the curtains.

Then I have one small ceramic one that I made, which will hold regular Chanukah candles or small oil-cups. We seldom use it because I made it many years ago when I was really, really bad at pottery, and I'm not hugely proud of it.

My bashert brings two menorot to the union, one from maternal grandmother and one from paternal grandmother. Both are brass. One is of a very 'standard' shape, 8 little cups in a row and a ninth cup for the shamash which is behind and above the row of 8. The other is shaped a little bit like a stingray with tail (handle) curling up behind it; the candles are 8 in front and one, a very small bit taller, in back. Both of these hold regular Chanukah candles or little brass cups. I prefer brass oil cups, just like our Shabbat candles, but it's hard to find cups small enough not to clink against one another when I place them in.

My menorah is one I've had ever since my first Chanukkah when I was only 3 months old. It's a green dinosaur made of ceramic, which they still make apparently, as I saw it today being sold at my synagogue. Now I'm 17 and I still use it. Me thinks I should get a new one.

I don't have a Menorah, but I do have a cool Hannukkiah I made out of wood and metal when I was little.

Aww, poor behatz! You can make a makeshift one out of foil.

Mine is composed of little glass blocks that you can make into different shapes and stuff. It's cute. My best friends got it for me one year since it makes no sense to have an annual Chanukah party with no chanukiyah .
