Ianna seemed tired. Not only had she gone to find the Atlantis wand, Matilda had bothered her not three days later to find yet another wand. And she had had to go to JAPAN! At least it wasn't under the sea or to the moon this time. At least she actually had OXYGEN this time without half dying.

She was busily searching through the book of Life and Death, silver eyes glazed over as if she were just running through the motions. Which, mostly, she was. She could see no new wand sightings for a while, but then again, Matty rarely updated the damned book anyway.

Beside her lay two wands, or more so, a staff and a trident. Still wands, according to Matty...but Matty's definition of things was kind of skewed with her being in another realm and all. She wondered if any owner would come in today, and which wand they would take home.

She sighed a deep sigh and closed the book, which had a tendancy to slam shut and scatter papers and dust. "Stupid book." she muttered.

Eamane was wondering the streets again, she had a day off and had no idea what to do with herself. She definately appreciated Az taking the children but it left her wih nothing to do...which often ended up with more children in the house. You'd think the man would learn, but no.

The little elf pushed a strand of hair behind her pointed ear and peered up at the building her feet had stopped at. They had a habit of doing that. She made her way inside and blinked at the sudden change of light. A few moments later her sight adjusted and she looked around. The shop was tiny and sorta dark and dusty...but comfortable at the same time. "Hello?" her voice sounded loud in the stillness.

Ianna looked up from her work and coughed. A person. An...elf Person! Oooo! Maybe that was...She felt a mental kick from Matty.

"THAT is a guardian. I don't know which one though...I can't get a reading. You'll have to give her a test, or something..."

Ianna sighed. "I'm not stupid, Matty." the woman seemed to talk to herself. She looked over to Eamane again. "Hello! Welcome to Ghosts of the Past. Please come up to the desk...I've been expecting you..." she paused, waiting for Matilda to give her the name

"Eamane. That is your name, is it not?" she smiled almost too sweetly, as if she had a secret she just couldn't wait to share. "And close the door behind you...Matilda said you're going to let the cold out."

Eamane blinked again as a woman's head came into view and she offered a cheerful smile, which only wavered momentarily at the mention of her name and the person that was appearently invisible and silent.

She did as she was asked and closed the door. Her smile was a bit nervous though as she approached the stranger's desk. She kept her hands inside the sleeves of her kimono, "Yes, I am Eamane...but I'm afraid I do not know who you are" The elf bit her lip and looked at Ianna expectantly

Ianna gave a little laugh. "The name is Ianna Umbridge, M'lady." she spoke, bustling around some papers until she picked up the large leather bound book which looked as if it were several centuries old. Which is actually probably was...it looked as if it had that much dust on it, in either case.

"Aha! Found you." she murmured, tapping the cover. "Can I ask you to place your hands on this book please?"

The moment Eamane would touch it, the book would spring open, light up, and the pages would fly as if there were invisible winds brushing at the paper. It would then land on the page with a sketch of a beautifully made trident. Below that would be beautiful scrawl reading:

"Atlantis. Wand ID 00001. A Soul has been trapped within the confines of the wand. Congratulations, you have become the next guardian to take on the task of raising it from infancy to greatness. We, Ianna and I, have the upmost faith in you to complete your task dutifully. Best of luck,

Matilda."

Ianna almost clapped in delight. The selkie had found a home, eh? Goodie. Now only to find that Japanese thing a home. The silvery eyed and silvery haired woman gazed expectantly at Eamane for her reaction to what she saw and read.

Eamane giggled softly, it had been a few years since anyone had called her that. "Ianna," she repeated the name to lock it into her memory. For some reason she had a feeling it would be good thing to do. Suddenly presented with the book (or at least suddenly to her mind as she had been lost in her thoughts for a few moment) she seemed a bit dazed. But the instructions eventually intruded on her awarness and gently she lay a hand on the book cover.

She gaped as it opened and she looked at the pretty picture. "it's beautiful" she murmurred as her eyes moved to read the text. She felt a pit in her stomach. Oh this wasn't going to over well at home! Perhaps now Az wouldn't leave her free time to spend finding more babies, the thought made her happy and she giggled with delight. She did so love babies.

The giggling slightly annoyed Ianna...but then, Ianna wasn't used to giggling. She was used to the mad cackling in her head done by Matilda. Or the whining and begging. She was used to that too.

Oh, but the the Moon-Wand guardian's reaction was awesome. Why couldn't Eamane be more...freaked out by this? Ianna did so like freak outs.

Ianna reached over and grabbed at the Trident beside her, glittering with seven sapphires and dripping with seaweed she hadn't been able to pry off. It was even more beautiful in reality, it seemed, glittering with gold in the filtered light.

"Here's your baby." she murmured. The moment Eamane would touch the wand and take it into her hands, it would glow with a faint blue light, all the way down to the end of the wand from the very sharp tips. It was activated.

Now was Eamane's time to freak out a little, a very little mind you, elves were supposed to be dignified or something like that. She tilted her head to the side as she surveyed the trident, it looked very much like the picture but shinier! She reached out and clasped the long handle and almost dropped it as it began to glow. Eamane swore under her breath and tried to calm herself. "is it supposed to do that?" she asked

Ianna gave a slightly insane giggle and nodded her head. "Yes, it means that your baby just came to life and you're now responsible for it. It's your job to see that it doesn't die and emerges into a proper ghost. And then, it's your job to love it until it becomes flesh and blood."

Ianna shrugged. "Just need to basically make sure it doesn't get sucked up by a vacuum or something..."

Eamane nodded to show she understood. Her smile returned at the mention of vacume cleaners. "that sould be safe...we only have hardwood floors" she giggled again, a surprisingly girlish sound. She turned to leave and then paused as she slowed faced Ianna again "is it alright to come back here if I have questions or problems?"

Ianna was slightly surprised that the woman hadn't asked how a soul was trapped and why exactly she was chosen. The other woman had. Ianna just shrugged her shoulders and yawned lazily, taking a roster and writing in the name of the guardian and wand.

"Sure, but uh...Press this." she slid a sheet of paper over to her, written upon it was gold letters saying "Press Me". As soon as Eamane would, she was transported into a large room. As she entered the main lobby Via the portal connecting the shoppe and the headquarters, the first thing she would notice is the vast...largeness...of it. The high ceilings, edged with gold, the large chandeliers dripping with crystals, the smooth white tile-floors, colorful rugs, and beautiful paintings.

To the left was a large recreational area complete with a large flat-screen television, several rows of various games, movies, video game systems and books. There was a basket of toys in the corner, full of plushies, dolls, cards and various other objects which would appeal to most ages. Included in the area were several comfy looking couches and plush chairs just made for sitting, lounging or bouncing in. It seemed to be heaven on a fluffy carpet. It even had a foos-ball table and an air-hockey table....and for the slightly more food-minded GoTP, a mini fridge always full.

To the right was a large elaborate counter, which seemed to have a force-field of some sort around it, keeping anyone who was not Ianna or Matilda from going behind it. On the counter lay a roster with the names of all the Ghostly children and their guardians, and an appointment book.

From there, it branched off into halls with rows and rows of rooms. Some were storage, some were guest rooms, some were bathrooms, and one very large and ornate door to the end of the hall led to the gardens. "Welcome to Headquarters, Eamane. You're welcome here at any time."

Eamane was a care free soul, as long as she had someone to mother she didn't really ask to many question unless something out of the ordinary happened. Apparently a child coming from a wand didn't qualify as unusual at the moment.

She reached forward a bit more confident now and pressed the seal, when the room stopped moving she looked around curiously. She almost fell over. The little elf had been in many head quarters in her life but this was definately the strangest mode of transportation to get there. She looked at Ianna with wide eyes. "What's going on here?" she paused, her thoughts racing as she began to analize things. "How did you know my name down there...and how did that book now my name?" Her voice was quiet, almost as though the questions were aimed at herself.

Ianna nodded her head. "Well, dear. Matilda sees things....she's my daughter, you see. You can't see her though, she's not in this realm...but she's the one who cast the spell which trapped the selkie soul in that wand." she pointed to the trident.

"She knows who the guardians are supposed to be before they even know they're to be guardians. And you got here by a portal...there's an easier way to get here, which is a perma-portal drafted into a door that leads here and to the shoppe...but this is so much more fun!" she smirked. "At least, for the new ones. That's the only time you'll use the paper port."

Eamane nodded as though she understood, "Oh, I see" she grinned while secretly thinking the woman should probably see a doctor about the voices in her head. She was about to commment again when the rest of what Ianna said trickled into her mind "Selkie? What's a selkie?..." she almost sighed, this meant more research did it.

The elf craned her neck round the woman and nodded at the door. "got it...that will probably be more convienent though less fun." she giggled and shifted her grip on the wand.

Ianna groaned. Who didn't know what a Selkie was? She frowned a little bit and moved behind the counter, which was already strewn with papers and the like. Finding a book, she snapped it up and handed it out to the elf.

"A book all about Selkies. You'll need it. But the short version is they're a seal people who shed their skins to become human."

Eamane took the offered book with a smile "thank you, that will save me a trip to the library" She cocked her head to the side as Ianna gave her the summary and then nodded "well that doesn't sound to bad...do they often get trapped in wands when they die?"

Ianna shook her head. "No. There will only be one selkie spirit, ever." a smile. "There are hundreds of wands and hundreds of spirits that Matilda has trapped to give them another chance at life. You see, each soul trapped died a horrible or wrongful death. She wanted to give them another chance."

Eamane nodded her head in understanding as she glanced at the door. It really was time to be going, she had a dinner to make. The little elf inclined her head and gave Ianna a friendly smile "thank you for explaining things to me....I'm positive I'll be back soon" And with that she left...via the door this time.

Ganty knocks on the door, before somebody could open she leaves a small package in front of the door and leaves into the dark.

Inside the box was a small vial with some kind of colored goo in it, you also find a little note.

Please take good care of this vial until Christmas, maybe something nice will pop out from it for you. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year!

((aww...thanks Ganty ^^))

Eamane opened the door to her large home just as the sun was setting. From the hushed sounds most, if not all of the children were sleeping or out. A smile crept over her face as she stepped inside and peeked her head into the living room

Az was sitting in his usual chair and reading the paper. Apparently he hadn't had time during the day. He looked up, one eyebrow raised at the sheepish expression on his wifes face, "What did you bring home this time?" he asked in a level voice

Eamane scowled at the man she had married, how dare he read her so easily! "Now is that any way to talk to me" she asked sweetly as she crossed the room to sit comfortably on his lap, she put her bag down beside the chair.

The eyebrow lifted more, "are you telling me you spent an entire day without the kids and you didn't bring home another?"

The elf swatted at him playfully "of course I'm not saying that." She reached down and withdrew the glowing trident. She giggled and kissed the tip of Azmodarn's nose and jumped up. "I'm going to check on the kids." And with that she disappeared into the kitchen.

Az just sighed and went back ot his paper. He'd worry about it in the morning

Eamane

Dear Diary,

What a day! I don't even have the words to describe it suficiently...but of course that never stopped me before!

You see I had the day off, which as you will note from previous adventures isn't usually a good thing, and so I was wandering around town hoping to meet up with Metz for tea...or in her case vodka. Anyways I stumbled upon his run down little shop and decided to take a quick peek.

Lo and behold I am once again a proud mother...this time of a wand, but i was assured that it would eventually become a baby. It was quite strange being told I was selected as a guardian by someone I have never met before...still haven't met actually. How does she know I'm a good mother? a good person? especially for a creature I know nothing about. It is a bit disconcerting but then I wont let that get me down...I have a new baby

Eamane shifted her weight as she peeked her head through the door into the empty headquarters. The little elf sighed and shuffled inside holding her wand tightly in her right hand. She took a moment to survey the building and noted a door that led outside, perhaps to a garden or something of the sort. On a nice day like this if anyone was about it was likely they would be outside...and if she was alone then obviously the idea would come to the next person along as well!

Happy with her logic she made her way outside and took a deep breath of the floral scented air. Perfect, she looked around "hello, is anyone here?"

Ianna was sitting by the fountain, supervising her little girl who was splashing around in the cold water, wearing a little pink bathing suit and floaties. She looked positively adorable - according to Ianna, but then again she was her mother. And biased.

"Having fun there Kay-bear?" she asked, giving a little splash to her daughter, which was returned to her with a loud squeal. She chuckled and looked up, "Oh! Hello. It's been a while...Eamane...right?" she offered a smile, brushing some wet silver hair from her face.

Eamane's eyes lit with recognition as she spotted the silver haired woman, she didn't remember the little girl but that didn't bother the elf who was so busy she could't remember her own name sometimes.

She practically pranced across the thick lawn coming to a stop close to the fountain, "It is indeed, Ianna if I remember correctly" she grinned happily as she gracefully sank to the grass and placed her wand in her lap. "and who is this?" she asked her eyes twinkling as she watched the little girl.

Ianna looked confused for a moment...Wow, it really HAD been a long time if she had come along before Coailiann had, "This is my daughter, Coailiann. She emerged from a wand as well, but she's a toddler now...Isn't that right, Super Kay?"

She used the nickname Malen had come with her, watching the little girl's smile burst out, "Wight!" she nodded her head affirmatively before plopping her rear on the bottom of the fountain, the water shifting its depth so she didn't drown or anything.

Ianna chuckled, "Aye, and I'm Ianna by the way. What brings you here? Wand finally spout?"

Airaka held the wand to her chest, slightly happy it was a weekend so none of her charges needed her at the moment. She slipped inside the headquarters, blinking up at the bells that chimed, announcing her presence. A nervous twitch shook her body as she scanned the area, and after spotting no one, a quick look of worry ran across her eyes. That was until she saw the door way leading to the gardens. It took her a couple seconds, before she shuffled outside.
The crimson haired woman spotted the others, and let out a quick breath of relief, while her eyes floated to Coailiann. The girl was bigger now, large since the last she had seen of her. It was quite astonishing to see her.
Airaka was standing there, most likely looking silly, as she clutched the golden wand to her, sapphire eyes peering at the women and the baby.

Eamane blinked obviously surprised "oh, she's grown so big!" she clapped her hands excitedly. "And absolutely gorgeous to" She shook her long hair out of her eyes and leaned back on her hands. "And my wand? nothing yet...he isn't dead again is he?" her face suddenly worried.

Eamane glanced up noticing the other woman's movement out of the corner of her eye. She blinked again and smiled. Raising a hand she waved "hello there

"No, it wouldn't die unless you abandoned it or broke the wand itself..." a beam at the compliment to her daughter, who seemed to like it as well, splashing extra hard in the water, "Yeah...She is. Thank you."

Coailiann echoed her sentiments, "ANK YEEEEE"

Ianna noticed another presence and tilted her head, "Ahh, hello Airaka." Ianna said softly, turning to look at her with a smile, "Haven't seen ya in a bit either..."

Airaka blinked, listening slightly to their conversation. The other woman had to have a wand as well. Her eyes searched for a wand, until she saw the woman and Ianna turn to her. She jerked slightly, her first instinct to hide the wand, when she quickly remembered where she was. There were no antique hunters around who would criticize her for carrying such an item.
Airaka grinned weakly, and moved toward the two, giving Ianna a nod in greeting. Dropping one hand which held the wand she, raised the other to the woman speaking with Ianna,
'I'm Airaka. Pleasure to meet you.'
She shot a quick grin over at the little toddler, before refocusing on the one whom she had introduced herself to.

Eamane breathed a sigh of relief "oh good...no I havent done anything like that, he must just be shy" she smiled softly and nodded acknowledgment of Ianna's thanks giggling at the toddlers enthusiastic mimic.

The elf watched he other woman approach and continued to smile in a friendly way noting the wand in her hand. She rose effortlessly from her crosslegged position and took the offered hand "Eamane, it is nice to meet you also" her voice lilting slightly with the formal language. She pulled Kiran's wand into view and nodded towards the one in Airaka's hand "You are a guardian as well?"

Airaka shook the hand, before retracting her own sun kissed one, and holding the golden wand protectively in both hands. With a quick nod of her head, Airaka replied,
' Yes, I guess you could call me a guardian.'
Her bright eyes lowered to the wand before back up at Eamane with an uneasy grin. She loosened her grip on the wand, and held it sideways across her chest, the light from the sun bouncing off the scarlet jewel surrounded by the metallic dragons.
' Wyvern, I suppose. '
Then she slowly lowered the wand, watching it as she did, before saying,
' It must be a question often asked, but do you know what is contained in your wand?'
Her voice was softer, and much more 'antique' then it would be around children, and Airaka seemed slightly on edge like this.

Eamane eyed the pretty wand apprciatively, she liked pretty things and the wyvern's wand was definately beautiful. Her eyes drifted down to where she loosely held her own wand, she had tried to clean it a bit but for some reason it had proven to be futile. She shrugged and lifted the trident, "Ianna said he was a Selkie" she responded brightly, "I didn't know what that was but since I found out that it is a seal person" She grinned.

Ianna listened quietly to the women speaking before she stood up, picking the tiny girl from the fountain and rubbing her. She had noticed the sidhe begin to tire and sighed, "Sorry you two, but I really should get Coailiann into a bed. She's had a busy afternoon and it's past her nap time," she paused and nodded to Eamane, "Aye, a selkie. I hope you get along well!"

With that, the silver haired woman wisked the child off into headquarters.

' A ... seal person?'
Airaka blinked. She had no recollection of whatever a selkie might be. It would be interesting to see what the child looked like when it decided to make it's appearance. She gave a good bye wave to Ianna and Coailiann, smiling warmly at the child. Her sapphire eyes then darted back to Eamane.
' Are you nervous? ...'
Airaka paused, thinking over the words that had just blurted from her mouth, and sighed on the inside.
' I mean, are you nervous now that you know that you will soon be a mother.'
She coiled her fidgety sunkissed fingers around the wand in some way, then raised her lowered eyes back up to the woman opposite of her, a soft childish blush shining pink from her face.

Eamane smiled softly, her height made her appear much younger than she was, "I'm always a little nervous when i get ready for a new arrival but once they finally get here it goes away immediately" She tilted her head to the side and surveyed the woman in front of her. She seemed overly nervous, perhaps she was a recluse? That would be interesting "And there is no need to appologize...is this your first charge then?"

Eamane gracefully lowered herself to the ground again and patted the grass beside her inviting Airaka to join her. She set the trident in the sun beside her full skirt

Airaka smiled weakly, and with a quick nod of her head, followed Eamane to the ground, jeans wrinkling with her movements. Her wand was still clutched in her hands, yet slightly less clung to. She blinked down from the wand, and nodded her head.
' Yes, my first child. Never had one before. Yet I must say I've thought of it, never thought the whole thing would be placed in action.'
Her smile became less shy, and she grinned up at her fellow wand wielder.
' You've had more than one, eh? I wonder how many of the others have had more than one child...'
Her last sentence came out as more of a murmur, her thoughts coming out in words. Puzzlement could be read on her face for a couple seconds after, then she sighed, and nodded her head, seemingly agreeing with whatever she had spoken within her mind. She turned back to Eamane, the smile back on her face.
' I am awfully nervous.'

Eamane sighed and with a dreamy expression gazed up at the bright sky. "I have had many children...well actually I've only had one, the rest were adopted but it doesn't change how you feel about each new arrival" She grinned and turned back to Airaka "I think you're going to do fine, you seem so gentle and kind"

Her thoughts turned to the other guardians, how many were there anyways? "I haven't met anyone else really, I got a glance at one and of course Ianna"

Daemyn let the wand slip from his fingers, straightening himself up somewhat as the woman passed him a grin. He blinked quietly, but was quick to reflect the expression. "Sibby, she's got one too."

"Hm?" Sibuna's lips stretched, giving off a warm smile towards Airaka and Eamane, though her eyes focused on the one making the most action at the moment. "Oh! Well would you look at that? What color would you say that was, hmm?"

Clearly it was to the boy, because he immediately furrowed his brows. "...yellow?"

"There's a better word than that."

"Mnngh." Daemyn snatched at one of his ears, pulling it at the lobe as he tried to think it over. In the meantime, Sibuna gently shouldered her wand, making it seem like some sort of club now.

"You're the second one I've seen with a wand." All the others had children. "Did Miss Ianna, 'scuse me for pryin', tell you what sort of child was to come out of it?"

Airaka caught their small discussion, feeling suddenly very nervous as they talked over her and the wand. Her face was tinged slightly the same colour of her hair, and she gave a slight twitch. The blue eyes darted away from them, to one of her feet that were set to the out side of her cross legged sit.
When the question was asked of the wand, she raised her head, and tilted it slightly, a sort of dog like look. She pondered over the question, seemingly have forgotten it, before she blinked, and muttered the answer that was beating on her brain since the time the question was asked.
'A wyvern. Ianna said that the soul possessed within this wand is that of a wyvern.'
Twas all she knew, and even that made her head ache at the thought. So much confusion and thoughts that opposed each other were constantly ramming around in her head. A slight smile was worn on her face, yet it didn't show much emotion.

Eamane smiled warmly at the new comer and glanced at the sun again. Her eyes widened and she muttered a curse under her breath. "I didn't realize it was so late. I hate to seem rude but I must leave. It was lovely meeting you Airaka, and I hope I talk to both of you again." She included the stranger in her smile as she rose and tucked her trident back into her bag. "Have a good afternoon." And then the little elf let herself out.

Eamane hummed under her breath as she scrubbed at the bathtub in the bathroom that was adjacent to her room. She blew a whisp of hair out of her eyes and leaned back on her heels. She hated spring cleaning. It must be close to break time. Throwing the rag into the tub she pulled herself up with a soft grunt. She wiped her hands on her jeans, it was one of the few times she put pants on. Cleaning in a dress was inconvienant. She reached automatically for the trident she had been carrying around for the last few months and felt a moment of panic when she didn't find it. She smiled wryly, she had left the wand in the bedroom. It had become habit for it to be within arms reach.

Still singing she entered her bedroom and swept the wand up from its spot on the bed. She giggled and spun in a circle. She continued to dance around the large, sunny room holding the wand in her hand. To anyone that saw her it would likely resemble some strange pagan ritual, or the capering of some escaped lunitic. Eamane didn't really care though as her feet continued to move. A short laugh from the door paused her in mid turn. She stumbled and with a small cry began to fall.

She was caught before she hit the ground but the wand went flying and skittered across the hardwood floor. Eamane began to protest but she was cut off as her lips were captured by her husbands. She pulled away, "Azmodarn!" She began to scold him as she untangled herself from his embrace. "You made me drop the wand...if it's broken you're the one who will be hearing about it for the next 3 months!" She scanned the room and spotted the glint of the golden trident under the dresser.

Az blinked and pulled away looking suitabley contrite, "Sorry mela." He crossed the room and bent over to fish the wand out from uner the large piece of furniture. Looking quite a bit like a chastised little boy he held the trident out.

Eamane had to laugh. She stood on her tiptoes and placed a kiss on her husbands cheek and then took the wand from his hand. No sooner did her hand close around the long shaft than did a mist surround her completely. She blinked and tried to clear the thick, colourful clouds from her vision. She clung to the metal in her hands and noticed that it began to heat steadily. She gaped and lifted it up to eye level. Despite the mist she could see the wand clearly and faintly, as if from a great distance she heard crashing waves and the cries of seabirds. A ghostly breeze carried the scent of saltwater and seaweed to her nose. And then just as quickly as it appeared the mist disappeared. The wand in her hand gave a small jump and with a slight hiss a whisp of the same mist emerged from the tip of the middle point forming a vaguely humanlike shape.

Eamane squealed and tried to hug the the whisp but in doing so dropped the wand again. It fell the floor with a clatter taking the whisp with it. The mist puffed apart and then gathered together again much to the new mothers relief. She stooped and picked up the trident. "Sorry," she appologised to the whisp, a blush staining her cheeks. The whisp floated and didn't respond. Irrationaly Eamane stuck her tongue out at the whisp, "Fine then be that way..." Her voice trailed off. He...She...It needed a name now that it was so close to being a real person. It felt weird to call it whisp.

Az watched his wife with a raised eyebrow. Something was obvioulsy going on here that he didn't understnad but Eamane seemed happy so he let it be. "Well I'll leave you two alone" He teased turning to leave, "Just don't forget that the bathroom can't be used and one isn't enough for 7 people." He glanced meaningfully at the cluttered bathroom and then left.

Eamane glared at her husbands back and then to excited to be mad turned back to her newest arrival and to her book of baby names.

Dear Diary,

It has been awhile since I spoke with you, but finally life has slowed enough that I can catch you up with events.

The children are fine. Tiri and Kam have become quite close lately but I havent had time to discover the cause of that. As long as they aren't at each others throats I'm content. I haven't seen much of Gael as she is working on completing her nursing practicum and that keeps her at the hospitals most evenings.

Oh but the most exciting news of all is about my little wand! It has finally started to become a person..seal..thing. Just yesterday while I was spring cleaning I dropped it. I was terrified that it had broken but when I touched it I was surrounded by this strange mist. I figured at that point I had definately broken it. But after just a few moments the mist cleared and a little whisp appeared from the wand.

Az said he didn't see any mist or hear weird sounds like I did so i figure it's some kind of magic. It doesn't matter really I'm just overjoyed that I will soon have another baby. I immediately pulled out my name book and after about half an hour settled on a lovely name that will work well if it's a boy or a girl: Kiran. Doesn't it sound just lovely?!?

Singing to herself Eamane sat down at her writing desk and pulled out her diary.

Eamane

Dearest Diary,
I really should keep you up to date but things are so common place around here most of the time. We just arrived home a few days ago from the Summer Council. It ran so long this year you would think the elvish world was facing some sort of crisis. It's not really though, there was just an unsual amount of ceremonies and treaties to work out. Apparently it's going to be an exciting year. The wars between the fire and earth tribes have been worked out finally and for the first time in 5 years representatives of both tribes were at the meeting- that may also account for it's length.

It was good to see family again. Chicklet has made her way home, I hadnt seen her since I met Az three years ago. She has taken up with our Aunt and aids her in the nurseries.

My little family is doing well too. Of course Gael didn't join us in our travels this year but she was waiting in the house when we got home. Oh and Dorian has been accepted into the Academy. He wil be leaving us in a few days. Tirio and Kamui of course accompanied us to my homeland. Kamui has always been a favorite- most likely because he will inherit when I'm gone. Tirio was well recieved and made so many new friends she didn't even want to come home! Kiran has been his normal whispy self, I have no idea how long he will continue like this but now that we're home I'l have to stop in and see Ianna. I'm sure she'll be able to help e figure it out

NinetailedNightmare
Kyo was somewhat disappointed to see so little life wandering about the HQ this day, though it was much more peaceful compared to the last visit. The english teacher had seated herself in one of the lobby's hard-back chairs to keep her awake while Xerksis was set loose before her. Of course she wasn't worried as to whether or not he'd wander off. He wouldn't, simple as that. Separation was an issue with the young Illithid as of late- a mountain that only grew a bit higher every time she tried to look around it.

Xerksis sat between his guardian's feet, one arm wrapped firmly around her ankle while the other set to work on twisting one of the dual knobs set against a board of plastic. The child was absorbed in the etch-a-sketch for the moment, content in watching as thin lines appeared from virtually nowhere. They ran chaotically across the toy without design or tact, twisting just for the sake of twisting. Really, you couldn't properly work and etch-a-sketch with one hand, but Xerk didn't seem to be having a problem with his abstract development. He wouldn't be pried from Kyo so easily, but it had still been a good try, right?

Having finally managed to finish unpacking, Eamane made her way towards the GotP headquarters in hopes of finding some more information in regards to her wispy charge. She was begining to worry about Kiran's slow development and it had nothing what so ever to with the fact she almost manged to vacume him up every time she tried to clean the house, nope nothing at all.

She pushed the door open and poked her head inside and almost turned to leave before catching sight of a woman and a young child. Smiling brightly she entered, Kiran poking out of the bag hanging from her shoulder. "Hello, I hope I'm not disturbing anything."

NinetailedNightmare
The dark-haired woman glanced up as a voice spoke. Sure, she had sensed Eamane coming in, but had almost assumed the woman was about to leave. Dark navy eyes blinked once up at the other, then slowly guided her eyes to the aura she could see emitting from Eamane's bag. "No... Of course not. I see you've made it to the whisping stage... Are you new?" She offered in a soft tone.

The child on the floor shifted, also acknowledging the newcomers' presences. Those oddly-shaped eyes seemed to eye Eamane boredly... yet they didn't turn away even after he'd given her a once-over.

Eamane pushed a stand of curly hair behind a pointed ear and wandered over. Still smiling, she was an overly friendly creature, the elf nodded. "Yes...he, she...it? has been a wisp for a very long time. We aren't new by any means. Kiran, " she looked down at her wand "is on the first page of the book." She glanced back up meeting Kyo's navy eyes with her own violet ones.

Her eyes drifted away and rested on the baby who was staring at her. It was a bit disconcerting to say the least. She smiled weakly, "Hello there." His appearance was a bit surprising but having lived in gaia for so many years things rarely startled her for long.

NinetailedNightmare
"The first?" Kyo's brows lifted in a rare display of emotion. As to Eamane's character, the woman made no judgments. She was simply there, over-friendly or not, and because she was not hostile Kyo was inclined to be polite. Not that she wouldn't be anyway. She just didn't really feel... anything besides a mild curiosity towards Kiran's wand and their guardian. "I don't recall the exact page my child was posted on, but it must have been quite a ways in... Only recently did he finally solidify." She lowered her eyes to the boy. "Xerksis, say hello."

"Uhn," The infant gave a grumpy little huff, eying Eamane as if she were about to run over and try to take his toy away. Jeez, kid... Not a moment later, the arm not hooked to Kyo jutted out towards Eamane or, to be more exact, the wand. Give!

Eamane nodded and blushed. She was afraid she may have sounded like she was bragging. "Yes, but I think I'm doing something wrong because everyone else seems to grow so much faster." She sighed and took a seat near Kyo, "Of course it could be because my family was away for a while. Maybe the wands have to be near the headquarters to change." She paused and blushed a brighter red as she realized she was rambling. "Sorry if I'm talking to much...it's a bad habit." The woman looked nice enough and she certainly didn't want to scare her away so soon.

She giggled at the little boy. "Xerksis? What a different name. Well hello then Xerksis." At his gestures she instictively put her hand onto the wand. She bit her lip uncertainly and then with a shrug handed the wand over. This boy couldn't do anymore harm than she herself had done. "Please be careful with it" she cautioned

NinetailedNightmare
No, not at all. Kyo was simply surprised to be meeting the first ghost to have been resurrected. Of course, there was bound to be a first of everything -she knew that- so perhaps it was the fact that this wand was still... Well, she would think no more of it. It wasn't right. She shook her head slightly, slowly. "If you were going to do something wrong, the wand would not have chosen you. All children are unique to one another, and some will take more time to develop than most. It is not always the parent's fault." She pointed out softly, her voice carrying the drowsiness of a recent sleep. A soft smile. "It's not a bad habit. Interaction is always good... One of my other sons, at times, experiences similar spats. Only... he happens to know over ten different languages and uses them all. You're... more than fine."

Xerksis grunted at her intelligibly before his stubby fingers closed around the wand. Good thing Xerk wasn't the type to stuff things into his mouth, or else poor Kiran might have met his doom then. The Mind Flayer pulled the wand towards him silently, now focusing on the wisp. Curiously, he tilted his virtually bald head forward, leaving it inside the wisp's reach knowingly. What would it do?

Eamane nodded feeling reassured. It wasn't that she thought she was doing something wrong just a nagging idea at the back of her mind. "I suppose you're right."

Kiran floated, his vague head titled a bit curiously. He seemed to lean forward stopping just short of Xerksis' head. What a strange creature, it felt different from the one that normally carried him around. He felt a moment of panic at that but it passed. This creature almost felt more right than she did.

"A dream? I just got Kiran from a baby book, hopefully it wont mind to much. What is Xerksis if you don't mind me asking? Kiran is a Selkie" she supplied. "oh, I forgot my manners. I'm Eamane"

NinetailedNightmare
Even though all of the reincarnated spirits were of different races, there would probably always be that little connected that linked them all together- that magic which had pulled them out of limbo. Whatever Kiran was feeling, Xerksis most likely felt it too, a pleased little smile crawling over his features. His arm let go of Kyo for the moment, instead allowing the infant to lean one shoulder against her leg so his free hand could now harass the wisp. Not that he actually was touching it yet. It was a faded memory, being in such a state. He could touch others like him. Now the baby's first instincts were unsure. So now he held out his fingers, cupping his hand close behind Kiran but not actually touching.

"Yes..." Kyo nodded slightly, her eyes sliding halfway shut. "Well, most people do use those help books. It is a good source, and I know a few people here that have done the same. An abnormal name... just felt right. Xerksis is a Mind Flayer... it's a type of psychic race that live underground." Oh course don't include they're all squid-people, Kyo. "How nice to meet you Miss... Miss..." Her eyes drifted shut, head lolling slightly forward so her long, black hair covered her face. She was... asleep? Yes, it certainly seemed so.

Eamane frowned slightly, "i can't say I've ever heard of a mind flayer. But then I didn't know what a selkie was either at first..." Her babbling trailed off as she noticed her companions inattention. Had she fallen asleep? Eamane peered at the woman with a question expression. It certainly looked like she was asleep. A narcoleptic (sp) perhaps? The little elf fidgetted nervously unsure of what to do as she watched Xerksis playing with the wisp that would eventually be Kiran.

Kiran was uncertain of what to do, he had only been awake for a few months. Not mention a wisp didn't have much room for a developed conciousness. Instict would have to do for now. The wisp leaned forward more and hesitantly touched Xerksis' head.

NinetailedNightmare
Yellow eyes lacking any semblance of pupils slowly narrowed as Kiran leaned forward, eventually crossing comically as he tried to keep track of it. The ghostly hands on his cranium did not go unnoticed. In a motion of his mind that was becoming quite routine, he reached out mentally and searched for something he did not exactly know the purpose of. All the child could understand was that if the wisp had this certain mental feature, then it could be contacted. Kiran wouldn't feel anything, or shouldn't. The feature was not found, so Xerk left it be without a second thought, cooing softly at the soon-to-be selkie instead. He may not have been able to converse with Kiran, but he could certainly send him pleasant vibes; normal humans did that to others every day. The infant pushed a content, perhaps soothing feeling towards the wisp, as if attempting to assure it that its instincts were fine. The baby's hand absently moved behind Kiran, petting the air above it. Good wisp. To Eamane he passed a sort of bored look, shoving a pink tongue out at her as he'd seen a few of his housemates do. Brat. Yes, he believed this was his wand now...

Kyo continued to doze for the moment, shoulders rising and falling slightly with her sleep. Yes, she was narcoleptic, how preceptive of the elf to notice. Humans and their weaknesses, honestly... With nothing to rouse her, the Illithid's guardian would continue to sleep.

Kiran hovered, it was all he really could do. He didn't actually have a mind yet to be contacted and so Xerksis' efforts went unnoticed but subconciously he appreciated the soothing waves sent towrds him. One thing he definately did understand though was that he did dearly love the attention.

Eamane smiled in a matonly way as she watched Xerk 'play' with her wand. At least right up to the point he stuck his tongue. Now what had she done to deserve that! She frowned and snuck a glance at the sleeping Kyo. It was an uncomfortable situation but she couldn't just leave the child without supervision. Still the glint in Xerk's eye made her nervous. She reached out, "May I have my wand ack?" sheasked him quietly.

Eamane flopped down on the couch letting her bag fall to the ground and resting Kiran’s wand lightly on her stomach. At this rate she was never leaving the house again! Or perhaps just Kiran wasn’t leaving, she hadn’t quite decided yet. She lifted the wand and carefully inspected it for damage. That little monster had done a number on her fingers who knows what he could have done to her wand.

The trident seemed to be alright and Kiran was floating, she assumed, contently in the air above the tarnished forks. The elf lifted a corner of her skirt and once again tried to polish the gold but to no avail. With a sigh she stood up and shuffled her way up to her bedroom. It wasn’t often she had the house to herself and after her last adventure a nap definitely seemed in order.

She put the wand on the bed and went into the closet to undress and put on something a bit more comfortable. She was standing in just her underwear when she felt something bump against her thigh. With a startled scream she spun around attempting to cover her more salient features with her hands. Seeing Kiran floating near her she breathed a sigh of relief and began to finish dressing.

Again she felt the cool metal touch her bear skin. With an exasperated sound she bent to pick up the wand. “What is your problem? I wasn’t going to be long.” She assumed the wand was still a bit nervous from its earlier encounter with a certain young boy. She was wrong of course, Kiran hadn’t felt much alarm at his capture, he hadn’t even comprehended it.

As her hand wrapped around the wand she felt for the second time a sensation of vertigo. As the incredible dizziness passed she was bombarded with the scent of the sea and the sounds of screeching gulls and the thunder of waves against jagged rocks. Sand beaches of course made a much different sound. For the briefest moment the elf saw high, black cliffs, a rocky beach, a somber, clouded sky and the iron grey of the ocean before a storm. In a flash of light it was gone and she was back to herself again.

Eamane's heart jumped at the sudden silence. Her eyes remained glued to the wand that she had come to think of as her child. Slowly the mist cleared and a baby floated slowly down to rest in the elf's arms. Eamane blinked, her mouth open in surprise. "Huh? ...what? ...where? ...." a look of comprehension slowly crept over her face and she grinned suddenly and clutched the naked child to her breast. A baby! Her heart sang as she relaxed her hold slightly and looked down at him.

The baby's eye fluttered open, large blue orbs surrounded by thick lashes looked back at Eamane and he waved a tiny fist in the air and then stuck it into his mouth. He tried to babble around the appendage and then, apparently exhausted by the effort of his speeded growth, fell asleep again.

Eamane snuggled the infant to her breast and still undressed went to put him in the nursery. The nursery! The elf’s eyes went wide as she felt a moment of panic. Kiran was supposed to still be an unsubstantial mass if everything she’d heard was right. This meant she should have had longer to set up the nursery, which of course she hadn’t done yet. Now what? She looked around, her heart fluttering in her chest as she continued to over react. Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, she began to laugh. She opened her bottom drawer and serenly deposited the infant inside. It would do until she could get dressed and found a crib. The baby continued sleeping wrapped up in warm sweaters, blissfully unaware of what sort of house he had let himself into.

Eamane was jerked out of a pleasant dream by the piercing screams of a distraught infant. She considered bury her head under her pillow in an attempt to drown out Kiran’s cries but she knew it would do no good, when he cried like that there was no shutting him up and there was no reason everyone in the house should have to suffer. The little elf moaned and slid out of bed and into a thick bathrobe. She managed to get out of the room without running into any walls and shuffled her way down the hall.

She flicked on the lamp in the nursery and felt her annoyance disappear at the sight of Kiran standing in his crib, tears rolling down his cheeks and his hands raised imploringly to his mother. Poor little thing, she lifted him easily and cuddled him to her breast.

Kiran’s grumpiness had receded in recent months and he was now full of smiles and giggles that melted the hearts of anyone who came close to him. He now unleashed the full force of them on his sleepy mother and was gratified by her soothing kisses. It was good to know who was in charge. There was something he wanted. The older occupants of the house had tried to hide it from him, but he knew things were going on. If that was the case it had to be about him- that was the only time anything of interest happened after all, and he had seen his mother tuck a package into the hall closet. He peered into the dim light as he was carried through the silent hallways and giggled with delight when he was placed on his favourite blanket on the floor near the elusive closet.

Eamane swiped sleepily at her eyes as she shuffled her way into the kitchen to ready a bottle for her fussy selkie babe.

The coast was clear, now he just had to turn himself over and creep the distance to the treasure chest. With a monumental effort he managed it and one more great surge forward and he was on his knees. Now he just had to remember the correct pattern of movements to move forward instead of backwards. Left hand, right knee, right hand, left knee. He grinned in triumph as he began the long trek across the living room floor. As he approached his ultimate goal he was gratified to see a thick dark edge around the door. It was open! Oh they always under estimated him. He squirmed his way into a sitting position and used his chubby fingers to swing the door open, almost hitting himself in the face in the process. But then there it was. The white wrapped package was laying on the floor right in front of him; some helpful pet must have knocked it down.
The sound of tearing paper brought Eamane rushing back into the room. She blinked at Kiran, completely shocked. He sat in front of the hall closet, a silver chain clasped in his pudgy hands and a celtic knot pendant stuck in his mouth. “Kiran! That was Daddy’s birthday present!” She ran forward and tried to pry it from his grasp.

Kiran pouted and held on tighter, the shiny was his fair and square!

Eamane twisted her hands together and glanced back over her shoulder. She hated leaving him behind, but it had been decided that Kiran was still too young to make the annual journey to her childhood home. In fact it was perhaps the first year her and Az had made the journey alone since their first year of marriage. The other children were grown up and moved out. Kamui would normally be coerced into attendance but he was working this year. So her last baby had been left with Gael to take care of, the vampire was pregnant and the travel would be too strenuous for her.

The little elf had decided that she would buy Kiran a few gifts to make sure he wouldn’t forget her while she was gone. They were left with Gael to distribute; one a week for the month. The shopping had been fun she had to admit thinking back to the afternoon before.
***

Accompanied by a very pregnant Gael, Eamane pushed the heavy glass doors of the local mall open. She bit at her lower lip nervously as she looked around at all the shops. They looked expensive. A little sigh and she led the way to one of the smaller toy stores. “Any idea’s mela?” She asked her adopted daughter.

Gael smiled and looped arms with her much shorter mother, “Maybe you should have a theme! Kiran is a selkie so how about seal toys?” She hid a giggle, very amused by the little elf’s nervous behaviour. She couldn’t remember her mother ever leaving any of them for more than a few nights at a time.

Eamane smiled gratefully and let her eyes browse over t he lines of stuffed animals. There were teddy bears, ponies, dogs, cats and even a rabbit! Ah! There was one. She stood on her tiptoes and managed to grab a seal plush by the flipper. She hugged the soft white toy close to her heart, “Perfect. Don’t you agree?”

The blonde nodded as she picked up two identical teddy bears for herself. “It’s very cute. What’s next?”

Eamane thought for a moment, “How about a book? They must have something about seals in the bookstore.” She handed the cashier enough money for all three toys, ignoring Gael’s glare.

Gael kissed her mother’s cheek as a thank you and led her out of the store again. “Bookstore it is then!”

At the bookstore Eamane lucked out and not only found books about seals, but there was even one about a Selkie. Looking through jewellery as a gift for her sister back home she found a pretty little seashell that reminded the young mother of her son. It was probably too old for him, but then again he was fond of ‘shinies’ as he referred to them.

That left only one gift to find. She pondered over it while she ate her lunch in the food court. Selkies were people that could transform into seals with the use of their skins. Kiran didn’t have a skin as far as she knew, maybe she could find him something similar so he could play at it?

She found a faux seal skin blanket in a very expensive specialty store. And a stop at the dollar store for wrapping paper completed her shopping trip

Home. Eamane breathed a sigh of relief as she let her bags drop from one hand while simutaneously hoisting Kiran up higher on her hip. Everything was covered in a thin layer of dust that was being stirred up by the busy feet of the children who had rushed in ahead of her. She would clean in the morning- for now it was time to make dinner and get everyone into bed.

She put Kiran down in the corner of the kitchen and began to rummage in the drawer for the take-out menus.

Kiran yawned and watched her mother with sleepy eyes. His aunt hadn't let him nap that afternoon in preperation of his mother's arrival, and now he didn't have his 'banky' so he couldn't sleep no matter how tired he was. He wrinkled his nose and sneezed. It was dusty, and it was making him feel funny.

It took only a little effort to push himself forward and rest on his hands. That was a good start, and now move the correct leg with the correct arm and he was going forward. A quick glance at his mother who was on the phone and he made his way into the living room. It smelled different in there, almost like the beach where his aunt had taken him. He had enjoyed the beach very much, he could almost the hear the cries of the gulls and see the fog rolling in. A sparkly fog? The silkie blinked and slowly toppled over- apparently he could sleep without his blanket.

He dreamed of the ocean. He felt the waves lap against his legs and the sand well up between his toes. The air smelled like salt and seaweed, he could even taste it. There was no sun, but he knew it was day time. And then he realized he was standing. That wasn’t right at all.

Kiran’s eyes blinked open to see his mother’s face very close to him. She had lifted him into her arms but she wasn’t smiling like she usually was. She almost looked scared, was there a spider nearby? He craned his neck to look.

Eamane had wandered out of the kitchen in search of her young son. He had become quite a handful since he had learned to crawl. She assumed he had gone in search of his toys that she had not yet unpacked. She had not expected to walk into her living room and see her baby sleeping in a sparkly fog. She vaguely recalled the afternoon her wand had changed into a baby and her heart began to race. Was Kiran going to disappear into the wand again?

She rushed forward and scooped him up. Immediately her brow furrowed, he was heavier and bigger. He hadn’t regressed, he’d grown!
