So I'm 3rd chair Bb clarinet and this year we have enough solid clarinet players so I'm thinking about switching to bass for concert season even though I've never even touched one XD. What're the main differences between the two (besides the fact that one's obviously bigger XD?

1. its bigger...lol 2. 1 octave lower (open G on a bass= 123 123 on Bb) 3. Bigger reed 4. harder to get a good sound (as the bigger reed...) idk ill post more later

youll have to change your embocher or else it will be really hard to play in the way low and way high octives. Also welcome to the bass clarinet family ^^ *Hugs*

well I ended up making second chair clarinet (after a chair challenge and losing first chair XD) so I was never assigned to bass, but now our director just obtained a mouthpiece for the Eb Alto Clarinet, so he said he might have me play that XD
