Trowa is assumed to be Catherine Bloom's long lost brother Triton, who was believed to have died years ago as an infant. There is only a little evidence of this: the baby being thrown from the cart's wreckage that killed Catherine's family has Trowa's trademark bangs, but if the names of the pilots do relate to numbers, it would seem more likely that this was true.
