The Secrets of Nicolas Flamel are much more recent but they don't overlap with Harry Potter. The fact that Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel are characters is close to the only similarity. They are quite good and I do believe anyone who enjoys Harry Potter would like them. It saddens me that I need to wait till late May to get the fourth book.
Has anyone read Artemis Fowl?

Yes! Artemis Fowl is fantastic. The humor, the plot, the characters... I love the series so much. And the code-loving part of me really, really, enjoys deciphering the codes (and it's different ones in different languages, and the paper backs, and so on.) I know all but the eternity code by heart smile
Oh, Artemis. He's made of awesome and genious.
