A nightmare? Faye was curious now, though not really curious enough to see for herself, unless someone wanted to, er, go there themselves, anyways. "When did you visit HQ?" she asked, wondering when that had happened.
"And uh, things been going okay otherwise?"

"Just, like, yesterday," Sofi answered, automatically glancing down at the palm of her hand to frown at the angry red papercut. "There were shadow-things everywhere, kind of like... I dunno, I don't wanna say bars, but..."
A pause.
"Like bars."
After completing that thought, she craned her neck to glance at the two new arrivals (Oh wow, did the kid bring a ghost?) before continuing.
"--I don't even know why I went. Aunt June and I were trying to figure out some riddle earlier and for some reason it made me think of you guys." Shrug.

The bull Fa'e's gaze trailed off to the other pair sitting in the cafe (did that one lady have long ears?), and tried with little success to hear what they were talking about from where he stood just inside the doorway. That meant he sort of missed what the hostess said, though, and did not return his attention to her until Lucretia answered the question for him.
"Yeah, just two," the Raevan replied, edging towards Bhel and sperading her wings out as the hostess leaned down close to the Fa'e.

June instinctively leaned back, eyes widening somewhat at Lucretia's reaction. Still, she said nothing, instead keeping a bright smile on her face as she moved to seat the pair.
"Table or booth?"

Yep, long ears, not that it really was anything of note on Gaia, probably, though Faye always tended to be of the opinion that pink hair+pink rabbit ears made her stand out in a way she didn't want to stand out (she was too lazy to try coloring her hair so far, though).
"Like bars," Faye repeated, trying to picture what that looked like, then. At the mention of riddles, she had to think for a moment. The rabbit girl hadn't thought much of the piece of paper stashed in her bag, but now that Sofi mentioned it, uh...
"A riddle? Like a piece of paper? Or something else?"

Ping! A lock of Sofi's hair stood on end.
"Yeah! Yeah, a paper! Did you get one too?"

... Did one of the lady's hair just sort of stand straight up? Bhel thought he caught something about riddles, too, and pointed at where the two older Fa'e were sitting as he told the hostess. "Next to them." A pause. Oh, right. "Please."

"Mmhmm, yeah, I did," Faye confirmed, nodding. It took a bit to rummage through her bag for it, as she hadn't cleaned it out inawhile (lots of receipts, aside from things like her wallet and cellphone), but she managed to find the slip of paper, showing it to Sofi. "I don't know what it means, though," she admitted.

The antenna that had sprung up on Sofi's head swayed as she pondered Faye's clue. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. "Ummmm..." Well. This was definitely a happier clue than the one Sofi received. She had to admit she was kind of jealous! So, then, what hides in plain sight (in groups), makes a bright smile, but doesn't speak... "Toothpaste?" She finally ventured. "Like, in the store? ...Have you ever noticed that stores like to put toothpaste on the bottom shelves? I wonder why that is." Sofi put a finger to her lips in thought as her antenna drooped. "It just seems like it's asking for trouble, you know? LIke, what if someone steps on a box? Sure, the box is there, but there's a tube inside! And if you step on it hard enough, the cap'll shoot off and toothpaste will go EVERYWHERE!" She paused to let that sink in. "--oh! Just a sec! Let me get mine!" Sofi quickly retrieved her folded clue from her apron pocket, smoothing it out on the table for Faye to read. "Aunt June thinks it might be a mountain. I thought it might be the sun, but if it vanished, I think the planet it's shining on wouldn't have anyone left to not remember it..." As they spoke, the aforementioned Aunt June quirked an eyebrow at Bhel, but, giving him the benefit of the doubt for now (Well, he certainly did look odd enough to be one of the Fa'e, as did the woman with him), she gestured to an empty table near the girls' booth. "All right, right this way..."

The Fa'e clamored into his seat and turned around backwards, grasping the back of it as he made no effort to be subtle as he peered over the chair at the two ladies at the booth.
"Bhel," Lucretia scolded the boy playfully as she pulled her own chair out and moved to hover over it. Then she leaned across the table and prodded at his behind with the corner of the menu. "Pick out what you want first, at least."
She turned her black eyes back to the hostess, her smile fading. "Ah, may I just have a glass of ice please? With no water?"
With a bit of fumbling, the boy turned around to sit properly, grasping his key with one hand to keep it from getting caught on the chair. Then he picked up the menu and opened it ... and flipped it upside down... and turned it right side up again.
Bhel glanced back over his shoulder once or twice more even as he asked, "What kinds of cookies do you have?" The key always gave off a hungry feeling, too, when the bull Fa'e touched it, as if he needed more reason to want cookies. He probably could have read the menu on his own, but it would have taken far too long - attention he devoted to the menu he would not be able to spend on listening in to what the two ladies at the other table were talking about.

She looked at Sofi's clue, not making much sense of it herself, while listening to the other girl's suggestion as to the meaning of her own clue. Toothpaste? While it sounded a bit out there, who knew?
Okay, Faye had to admit that did sound really farfetched, but then she really wasn't one to speak given her own lack of ideas.
Well, she had misinterpreted the 'safety in numbers' part at first, until she'd actually fully read the clue.
"A mountain? Sounds logi...it sounds like it would work," she said, suddenly getting the feeling someone was looking at them. Glancing around, Faye tried to figure out who it was.
