Wings fluttered slightly against her back, sending a large about of the butterflies that had found perches upon her back into flight. The large alphess paced back and forth slowly, for in her current condition she wasn't able to handle much in the way of movement. Her stomach had begun to swell with the tell-tale signs of life, of which Lumiere had avoided addressing until now.
It brought back the fresh pain of the morning after 'the deed' had happened, to find herself alone. Despite her best efforts, she had not been able to locate the grey beta that had slowly, over time, became her dear friend. Though, weeks after their meeting, it began to look as though she'd have something(or a few somethings) in which she could remember him by.
True, she had been lucky. Altair had been off during this time, to where she'd forgotten(had she even been told in the first place?). However, her luck couldn't run on forever. Sooner or later, she'd have to confront him, and tell him what had happened. Though by the sight of her, one didn't need much explaining.
Lumiere paced over, snapping up a few bites of grass. In hopes that it would ease her churning stomach.

In truth, the male peacock alpha had been out patrolling the territory. Despite popular belief, he did actually take his position of alpha seriously from time to time...even if it was a bit skewed at others. Apparently his responsibility hadn't extended to explaining to his new alphess where he was going. In his defense, he still wasn't used to having another of his stature around, and his own pack members were free to come and go as they pleased for the most part.
Still, he'd taken his time in patrolling the territory, alert for possible signs of future trouble, the general status of the Eastern lands, and looking for any new Helixes to recruit to his pack. Results were mixed. No signs of impending trouble, but also nothing new to report regarding new members. Ah well, his pack would remain an exclusive club with few members, all paw-picked. Yeah, that's it.
A touch of a swagger in his pace, Altair's thoughts returned to his home territory. It'd be nice to get back and relax for a while after such grueling responsibilities. He could use a good sleep. And a bath. And maybe some company.
Hmm...speaking of which... A grin crossed the peacock alpha's muzzle as he caught the hint of a familiar scent on the air. It was only a hint, but it grew stronger as he changed direction and kept up his swift, yet confident, pace. The sight of his lovely new alphess was sure to be as refreshing as a cool dip in a clear mountain spring...
What was...that...? As Lumiere's scent grew stronger, it became obvious that something wasn't quite right. It was her scent, yes, but it seemed...tainted. Something new mixing with her scent... Smile fading from his muzzle, Altair continued, drawing closer before Lumiere appeared within sight. His eyes narrowed at her form and he slowed his pace, finally coming to a halt at the edge of a clearing, watching her silently for the time being.

After the few bites, the alphess had had enough. She paused her pacing, staring off into the trees. She had no time to pace about uselessly, and eat grass to settle an upset stomach. Lumiere had to determine where she stood on this matter, before Altair returned.
On one paw, she felt nearly no remorse for her previous actions. Granted, what had started out as meetings with what had appeared to be a friend she had been able to confide in, ended with a rather unexpected ending and the loss of that very friendship. But was it not Altair's own flirtations that had driven her to this? After a moment, she concluded not. It had driven her into meeting with the silver beta, but not beyond.. That had been her own actions.
However, she could not, not admit that her alpha's flirtations had a paw in this fiasco.
But it wasn't soon after, did her hormones kick in sporadically once more. Guilt began to bud in the pit of her stomach. How could she do such a thing, especially so early in their relationship? To have pups with another...
She would never think of taking the whole event back. No, she had to think of her pups. Whether they were angels or demons, they were hers. Lumiere would love them no matter what. She didn't want Altair to get hurt, though.
Her ears perked at the faint rustling of foliage. Had she been discovered? Turning, she expected to see Sebastian or Olivia (it was foolish to hope it was Tyver, though the idea of his return had soon began to slip from her mind.) What she did not expect, however, was to see the peacock alpha standing at the edge of her small clearing. She noted, cautiously, of just how unhappy he looked.
Her paws were frozen to the ground, and she had trouble meeting that narrowed gaze. Lumiere took a long deep breath, to try and resume her stature and stared back into his gaze. It was a facade, but as long as it lasted as long as this storm had to be weathered... "Greetings, Altair.."

"Lumiere." It was more a statement than an actual greeting, touched with a steely tone very much unlike the alpha's normal light-heartedness. Wings folded and tucked tightly against his shoulders, Altair took a slow step into the clearing, then another and another. His steps weren't hesitant, but instead deliberate, as if holding back something struggling to be released.
His eyes are locked on her, noting her unwillingness to meet his stare. Of course, that only served to confirm his suspicions. Her scent...was her own, as he'd thought before, and he could sense no other's scent mixed with hers. Not another male at least. Though the slight swelling in her belly might explain the new scent or scents altering hers.
He wanted to say something, to come out and be blunt, but that wasn't really his style. He wasn't even sure where these new defensive feelings were coming from, but being an alpha, they were strong and difficult to hold back. Still, he was a gentleman...or tried to be most times. Still, one could only be pushed so far.
As he neared Lumiere, he shifted his path to circle around her, commenting in what normally would have seemed like idle chatter, if not for the steely undertone beneath it. "I trust you've managed to keep yourself entertained while I was traveling on pack business?"
