Background
The mainlands is the heart of the huge nation and it belongs primarily to the Cimarron Herd which is the biggest herd in the nation. The lands stretches out, almost encompassing the nation consisting meadows with rolling hills and pastures full of wild flowers with a couple of curving rivers or creeks cutting through them. There are straits of forests speckling the mainlands so the horses and wildlife could take refuge from the weather or build their homes there. The mainland is the 'headquarter' or gathering place because it have everything a horse could ever want or needed ranging from abundant amount of food, water and shelters. It promotes a concept of 'melting pot' due to the fact that herds comes through the mainlands to get to their destinations on other side or for a visit which promotes exchange of cultures, beliefs and perspectives.
The rivers that snakes through various areas of mainland feeds into the West Lake which is well known for its massive size and it is rumored that it is the largest lake in the entire nation. It is a primary watering hole for the horses to drink, bathe or play in. There is a huge waterfall on one side of the lake which constantly feeds the water to the West Lake, it is a popular spot for winged horses like pegasus, demons and so on forth for varying reasons. It is a quite family-friendly and have a welcoming feeling to the atmosphere (unless the demons are lurking around, waiting for an easy hunt). The water that flows into the West Lake is fresh water and is 'recycled' by several small rivers/creeks leading the water out to the gulf.
On other side of the mainland, there is a definite borderline separating the mainland from other territories and that borderline is made of enormous mountains forming the Canyon. The atmosphere around the Canyon is cold and forbidding which welcomes the brave (or stupid) horses to test their skills by surviving few days in the Canyon without falling to their death or getting trapped in a situation that they can't get out without help. The appearance of the Canyon is very rough and jagged with sharp rocks that seems to be shooting up to the skies with several cave mouths at various different layers in the canyon, indicating that there is a plethora of caves and tunnels interconnecting with each other deep into the canyon. Many of the little herds in the Cimarron Herd along with other big herds believes that when foals is on the verge of becoming an adult, they need to survive few days in the Canyon before they will be considered a fit adult and will be welcomed back into the herd.
