Rhian blinked, surprised, the stood up, and still holding the rock in her head, stepped over to Lauss and hugged him. A quick, non- squishing hug should be okay, right? The kids here hugged each other sometimes! In that embrace, she sent out a little prod with her Essence, seeking out Lauss-teachers and wrapping his with hers, like how she'd learned during her visits to the nursery, all nice and warm. Even when she broke off that too-quick hug, she kept the cuddly-warm Essence-wrap, enjoying the closeness of the Essence-touch. She didn't really know what she was doing, but she kept wrapping her essence around Lauss, a gentle mix-mix rather than a smothering feeling. --We can hug like this, Lauss-teacher. And I think I know what to do now for a little baby.--
Meanwhile, Riley watched the odd, silent exchange, smiling at the hug, then saw some of her friends across the playground calling for her to come play jump-rope. "I'm comin'!" she called out, offering a quick, bobbling curtsy and and a polite, "Take care of Pebby! I' was nice tae talk wi' y'!" And then she was off, running across the playground to play a jump-rope game with her friends.

Lauss didn't even hear Riley speak and didn't see her hop off, his eyes and attention glued to Rhian. He wasn't entirely sure what was happening, but he could sense that this feeling was coming from Rhian. This nice, comforting feeling... So this was how they'd make that baby she wanted? His eyes dimming a little, more with concentration than anything, as he reached out his Essence to hers, as well, not completely sure what he was doing, but realizing that this was what Rhian wanted. If she was happy, so was he.

Wrap, wrap, wrap, it felt so nice. . . after a few more moments, Rhian felt something odd, something she couldn't really explain, and it was over. With a gentle smile, she stepped closer to Lauss again and squeezed his hand for a moment, before signing out, --I think that did it, but I'm not sure. Want to go play a game now?--

Wait, what did they do? What just happened? Where did that comforting feeling go? Lauss looked pathetically to his girlfriend, confusion clear in his expression. Surely that wasn't how reproduction worked for them... As out of the loop as he felt, though, playing still sounded rather nice. "What would you like to play?" Something he hadn't already learned about, preferably. Then again, he could always hone his hopscotch skills...

Rhian sensed Lauss' dejection - her antennae were healing enough that she was starting to sense basic emotions again - and sent him another Essence hug briefly and warmly. --Let's find something fun for both of us to play!-- She really had no preferences for what they would play; she just wanted to spend as much time with her Lauss-teacher as she could.

Lauss smiled and nodded, taking her hand and offering to help the girl up. They'd need a game that didn't rely on keeping their balance, as that didn't really suit Rhian, and they'd need one that Lauss hadn't learned already. Looking about the room, he finally spotted a group of older children, clearly keeping the younger kids out of their circle, sitting around a spinning bottle. What on Drente were they up to? This certainly wasn't something Lauss had played before, and he wondered for a moment if Rhian knew what was going on. "How about that?" he pointed in the direction of the cluster of big kids.

Rhian paused for a moment, watching the game and how it was played to see if it looked interesting. When the bottle stopped spinning and one of the kids --amidst sneaky sounding giggles from the others collected there-- leaned over to kiss the person the bottle had apparently "pointed" to, she grabbed Lauss' arm for a moment and shook her head furiously. --That kind of game is one we'd get in trouble for playing.-- She signed. --Besides I only want to kiss you, not any of those boys.-- Pausing again, she smiled and tpped Lauss-teacher's wrist. --My balance is better now. I've been working with the doll influence I have and it's helping! Look!-- So saying, she successfully managed to rise up on her toes (it was convenient that she was wearing ballet slippers at the moment) and did a little twirl. --See? I've been practicing in my room where no-one can laugh at me.--

Lauss' face dimmed at the idea of getting into trouble again, and he nodded in agreement that the game should be avoided. Still, those kids weren't getting into troubl-- Oh, wait, there one of the adults went, breaking the game up and glaring at the kids. Lauss turned, attention back on Rhian, blinking as he learned that she'd been working on her balance. Well, that was certainly good news! No more dragging him down and scraping their knees when she tripped. But what was all this about practicing? How would one practice such a skill? Lauss' eyes went a bit wide as she spun in place, the alter watching her with slight awe clear on his face. "Rhi, you're... quite graceful..." Somehow, she looked even prettier just then. Older, too, in an unexplainable way. In fact, she seemed a lot older in many ways ever since that incident... While that was anything but negative in his eyes, he admittedly felt slightly inferior in comparison.

Rhian giggled soundlessly - more a shaking of her shoulders than anything else. --Let's dance!--- she signed, before grabbing Lauss' hands and going around in a little circle. She smiled at Lauss and twirled them both around in a circle, before deciding to simply go faster and faster and turn it from dancing into a spinning game, moving as quickly as she possibly could get them - despite the dizziness that was growing and growing from doing so.

Oh, this was dangerous... Rhian didn't have the greatest track-record with spinning, and while the beginning dance was nice and quite enjoyable, the twirls that came afterward caused Lauss' face to drop with worry. Don't hurt yourself, Rhian... Now that he thought about it, he himself was getting somewhat dizzy. He was going to get hurt again, wasn't he? The alter wasn't much looking forward to that.

Rhian stopped twirling just before she became dizzy enough to fall over and dropped (intentionally) to a sitting position, pulling Lauss down with her. she smiled at the other alter and Essence-hugged him again briefly, before reaching into a satchel she carried with her (to hold her windup key -- it wouldn't do to have that floating around behind her in public, after all -- and tugging out a thick book, handing it to Lauss. --Mama wrote this book! It's not a facct-book, just a story, but I thought you might like to read what my Mama writes.--

Having fallen in less of a sitting position and more of a face plant, Lauss sat up, rubbing his cheek and trying to get his head cleared of all that dizziness. Oh, Rhian was talking to him, wasn't she? Let's see, what was she saying? Eyes brightening at the sight of a book, Lauss smiled, taking the offering and leaning forward to give Rhian a kiss on the cheek -- they wouldn't get into trouble for that, would they? "Literature and fiction in general is not my strongest subject, so this will surely aid me in some way." He was more thankful than he could put into words, or sign language for that matter, and hoped she understood without him telling her directly. Now, if only he had something to give her in return...

Seeing a bit of dust on Lauss' cheek, Rhian brushed it off and smiled at him, blushing a bit at the kiss on the cheek. Somehow when Lauss-teacher initiated such things it was even better. Reaching over to him, she brushed a hand over his for a moment, then signed the simple message of, --I love you.--

What was that? Somehow, the message Rhian tried to relay to Lauss got lost as the gestures met his eyes. He... he couldn't quite recognize the signs at first. Why was that? He'd read up on sign language quite thoroughly, he should know this. That was, of course, unless Rhian was simply making words up now. No, wait, it was still familiar... Ah, that's right, that mean... Lauss' expression dimmed a bit, his eyes falling as he tried to understand. What did that phrase mean? What did she mean when she said "I love you"? "You love me?" His voice whispered back, not sure what he was supposed to say in response. With a weak and feeble voice, the essentic glanced up and asked a quiet, "What is that? What does that mean?"

Rhian smiled softly and touched Lauss' hand for just a moment, regarding him with a softness in her blue eyes that she had never actually shown before. --I love you. It means I never want to be away from you. That you're very special to me. That you make me happier than anyone else ever could. That's love. And I love you." Gently, she wrapped her Essence around Lauss' again, a tender, soft, almost shy embrace of her innermost being to his. It felt different than earlier had, yet somehow even better.
