So i'm assuming all of you are comic makers, seeing as how this is a comic makers guild. That means you must read comics, right? Since youre on Gaia, i'm going to assume most of you read Japanese comics, Manga.
What do you really look for in a manga? Like, what do you need in order to keep your attention? In other words, if a manga dosnting have this something, you will eventually loose interest and stop reading.
I personally require good art, good storytelling, and at least one favorite character.
Good art is completely subjective, and what i consider good might not resonate with you. For instance, I love Rave Master, yet many people have complained about the strange art. Same with One Piece. However, I like their art. Manga like Soul Eater and Ouran High Host Club, on the other hand, just rub me the wrong way, making it hard for me to read, and usually i just stop.
Good storytelling dosnt mean there's a good story. The story can be poo, but if they tell it well, I dont mind.
As long as I have one favorite character I just want to see more of, I'll stay with a series. In Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist, I have multiple faves. In naruto i have one.
So share what your preferences are and why, and maybe even share your favorite manga if you have one. Or share stories of manga you couldnt continue with and why. I'd like to know.

You know, when I first started reading Naruto it was awesome, i liked naruto, i liked sakura, but i absolutly loved sasuke. he was just so interesting, i knew nothing about him. he was dark and arrogant, but was still a good guy and still had funny moments. i really wanted to see him and naruto bond more with their brotherly rivalry, and also, he looked cool.
then orichimaru. i really hate that guy, because he stole my favorite character. i had hoped sasuke would regect that snake, but he actually gives in and at that moment an atomic bomb fell on the hiroshima of his coolness. It was gone. i no longer liked him anymore. he was nothing but a big ugly jerk.
But luckily i found someone else to keep going. A long time ago, Neji was the biggest douchebag ever. He was mean to everyone, he acted like he new everything, he was just grating on my nerves. yes, he looked cool (it took a while for me to get used to his byakugan) but his character was just terrible. HOWEVER, he actually changes. and then he has what i think is his most epic fight (possibly my favorite fight in the whole series) with that spider man, his cooless level just shot straight up. As soon as sasuke died to me, i began looking to Neji as my favorite character.
Unfortunately, his character development/usefulness had pretty much run it's course by now, and he fell to the wayside as a minor character. We hardly ever see him anymore. So, lacking something to keep my attention, and the painful Pain arch, i eventually lost interest and stopped reading.
If Neji gets a big part later, or if Sasuke becomes good again, let me know. I'll go and start reading Naruto again. The only thing more powerful than a favorite character is something to look forward to. XD

RAH! I recently found a manga version of Cirque Du Freak (If you havent already, go read that series, it is great) and it is SO GOOD! BUT THEY ONLY HAVE VOL ONE AND ONE CHAPTER OF VOL TWO! gonk

 Guru Guru Pon-Chan & Mermaid Melody FTW! >.> I will not be surprized if you haven't heard of Guru Guru Pon-Chan, it's one of those lesser-known magnas because it's not an anime. -.-' GGPC has a great story line because it's about this dog who can turn into a human by kissing the Guru Guru Bone which is like a charm for a collar. She is such an idiot when she is a human. My favourite part is when she does this; (( Read Right to left x3 ))  xD She was told babies come from stalks. *tsk tsk* LOVELONGDISTANCE

I hate the manga's that are centered around serious romance IF there is romance it better add to the comedy I also find 1 drawing style pisses me off. I also like alot of blood and killing as well as supernatural things at times
