xxxxxxxSpecial Traits
Abilities He has the gift of empathy (In other words, to read emotions), and is able to control wind.
History Born in Germany, Len was born as the middle child of three children, an older brother and a younger sister. For the first four years of his life, all was fine, and everyone was happy. His earliest memory was that of a picnic in a park- a memory he treasures the most. However, when he turned five, he was asked by his mother to come with her to Spain- and if it hadn't been for the fact he liked father better, he would have gone with her. When his mother divorced, his older brother taking her side, things no longer seemed to be the same; his father became depressed and stopped working for about a month, sulking around the house before he finally snapped out of it and returned to the work field, and his sister was completely oblivious as to what was going on. Ever since, Len held a grudge against his mother for the damage she had caused.
The gift of empathy was perhaps always there- but it seemed to held under lock and key. The lock was picked whenever he felt as though he knew his father's pain, and each time remained unsucessful when he wasn't able to grasp it. The years went by, with the three of them living withwhat little money they had. Len ended up raising her younger sister, and slowly became buzy with school. One day, however, when he turned nine, his sister caught a fever, and a doctor was called. Despite his father's efforts, he could could only make enough money to pay for the medicine as well as part of the bill- and as a result, they slowly fell into debt. Len took up a job in babysitting to help pay off the debt, slowing it's demand down a bit. They used the medicine sparingly- but his sister passed away weeks afterwards.
When his sister died, his father seem to talk to him as through he was a stranger- and due to financial circumstances, he had to pick up a second job singing with a local barbershop group. It was then he realized he had a knack for it, and practiced it everyday, singing songs that the barbershop used. The days seem to go by slowly, the knowledge of his father's grief gnawing him to the bone, until finally, his first priority was to just avoid home. That was the first time he realized he had the ability to control the wind- when he found himself unable to face his father when coming home one very windy day, the wind seem to become more softer and gentler. It was hard to notice; out of natural-born curiousity, he pointed to an apple on a tree, and despite his doubts, a strong gust of wind shook the tree and knocked the apple out of place. He was in awe-struck terror- what if anyone saw that? He quickly resolved to hide it, but it was task that proved almost impossible. He could only hope that no one saw the connection.
When he became old enough, he began to work as a farmhand. When he was attacked by stray cats (thus inciting his fear of them), he was saved by others who worked on the farm. Ever since, they became friends, and Len felt happy. He had gotten friends, for once...And when the time was right,, he revealed his ability. It didn't seem like a deal at the time- but then by the end of the next day, everyone around him, knew. This was done with good intentions- his friends only wanted to protect their families, resorting to more physical and mental means to chase him out of town. His friends became his tormenters, the barbershop group kicked him out of school, the farmer threaten to shoot him if he didn't leave the farm, and he soon found it harder and harder to keep up in school. It seemed as though the world turned against him. However, that was not the case- they were scared of him, and resorted to chasing him out of their lives before he wrecked theirs.
That's when he recieved the letter to Grove. He immediately packed his bags- for if his powers were a burden here, he told himself, he wanted to go towards a place where they wouldn't be seen as one. Yet, that didn't seem like the case- the grief of his sister's death, the hatred and discrimination he faced against his former friends, and even the knowledge of his father pain and dispair- they were driving him into a wall, and he felt that reaching out to someone, or anyone, would only cause more damage than there already was. Paying for a ticket, he headed towards Grove, taking only his powers and his bags with him.
Personality Len is sensitive person when it comes down to it, but his pride won't let it show. He is known to be closed off, and even when he wants to, he has trouble expressing how he feels. He is doubtful, and often is wary of other people. He doesn't like to meet people, much else reach out to them, because he feels would be a burden. He is known to be dense, despite his intellegence- and is known to be loyal (until bribed by sweets). He has a fear of cats.
Talents He sings very well.
Weaknesses Since his childhood, he is quite sensitive about negative critisms- small or large, joking or not. He likes sweet things (cakes, pies, etc) so much that they can be used to bribe him into doing things he normally wouldn't do (and that fact seriously hurts his pride). He is also afraid of cats (if one touches him, he faints)
