First of all I want to clear this part up: These voices were not coming from my head.
I used to live at a Blueberry farm, and all was normal until one day when my family was gone I heard my cousin's voice laughing in the kitchen, it wasn't much of a ghostly laughter due to the fact that it was so clear. I walked into the kitchen to see if my cousin really was there but when I checked no-one was there except for me. I figured it was my mind playing tricks on me but just about every single time my family was gone I heard a voice, it was usually one of my family member's voice or otherwise it was loud mumbling from a voice I had never heard. And every time it was coming from a place that I could not see until I got up and walked there.

It is believe that still living people can leave imprints in the energy of the earth, and things like hearing their voice as you did can occur. Not all disembodied voices sound ghostly. Some sound as clear as someone living and standing next to you. It also could be just a trick of the mind and you don't realize it. I've had times where I could have sworn I heard my mom call my name when I was either showering or resting my eyes. So hearing your living family is nothing to exactly worry about, just shrug it off. As far as the mumbling, it could be a haunt, but it could be just something else. Try some EVP work in the area you hear it to double check.

It happens... I used to hear my mom yell my name like I was in trouble, so I'd go upstairs and be all "What'd I do?" and she wouldn't be home at the time.
I've heard of the limestone theory for residual hauntings, maybe it's closely related to what you're experiencing. People suspects other minerals could have the same effect. It's pretty much what Raht said though.

I've had the same thing happen, so it is pretty common place, but I've never known what it was before...

It also could be your mind just remembering things and throwing them out there. I've had smells actually surface out of nowhere randomly. Like I smelled blue berry muffins while on a school bus and I was the last one on. Or pizza in the gym locker room.
wait, anyone else get that? XD

Uhhhh, may just be you, Raht. But remember! One of the first signs of schizophrenia is smelling things that aren't there. xD
But yeah, I agree with everyone else. I hear voices I've never heard before calling my name from the main street in town, it's just one of those things that our ears do. : )

Pizza in a locker room? Dx It never smells like anything but sweat and mildew, at least at my school they did. Mix that with pizza? Blegh.

XD XD Actually I get that, too, but I can actually summon those familiar smells in my brain until I really feel like I'm actually smelling them. Likewise with voices. Usually, for me, its my dad's voice. Something about it... Its like a radio playing in my head. pieces of words, phrases, inflections... I know its in my head but it sounds so clear to my ears. Of course, it always sounds like he's talking right into my ear, not from another room or something.

I would be greatly interested to hear/learn more about this theory, and yes, I do know about the Limestone theory.
