So, I was in In Medias Res IV's Religious Circumcision debate and that b***h IMR (who is such a dear, bless her sweet heart; I platonically love her to death) keeps driving the point about Judaism as an Ethnicity. Then this assface a*****e b*****d Troll Prince Rilian (Get him!!!!!!! Avenge me!!) goes and starts talking about 'Mixed Breed' Jews.
Mixed Breed? F*ck.

What does that make me?
I am the half-breed, experiment-gone-wrong spawn of a ridiculously unobservant Reform Jew with a less than Grade School Hebrew Education and a Catholic Irishman who took Catachysm class in school and admits that he would have loved to be a Catholic Priest if it weren't for that whole Celibacy thing. Clearly this is giving me a complex.
I've got over Nine Years of Jewish Schoolin' in mah head; I'm fluent in Hebrew and know a ton of prayers, laws, and customs. But I'm such a Reform Jew, a self- loathing Reform Jew most of the time, that I don't follow just about any of it. I acknowledge Shabbat with Candle Lighting, but I break it minutes later because I find Shabbat laws to be a pain, contrary to the very purpose of Resting, Relaxing, and Enjoying, which is why we shtup on Shabbat. I only cover my head in Judaic Studies classes and worship services. I only eat Kosher food when there's no Cheeseburgers or Pork in Airplane Distance.
I reject Jewish Ethics. I just love Mind Games so damn much! Putting others down, making them near suicidal with frustration, makes me feel so good on the inside. Warm and fuzzy. I have been a victim to bullies and a bully to victims, and though the former was more fun, I still just love tghe latter. I still do/am the latter. Like, all the time. It's like crack to me.

And how the f*ck is that a Jew? I'm technically a Jew because the a mom is technically a Jew, albeit an absurdly Reform one, because the Granny is technically a Jew....
That rule made during the Babylonian Exile about the Matrilineal Ethnicity thing is the only reason.

Is Judaism a genetic thing? I mean can you really be a mud-blood?

You're either Jewish, or your not.

Here's the deal: You are what you see yourself as. If you see yourself as a Jew, then you're a Jew. There's no such thing as a "mixed-breed" Jew. As long as your mother's Jewish, then you are Jewish. That's all that matters. And follow the religion the way you see fit. You don't have to follow the rules exactly as they say if you don't believe that you should. As long as you put some amount of effort and thought into it, then that's enough. Nobody's perfect and all the rules are up to interpretation. So, just do what you're doing, and if you want to do more, do more. Be who you want to be, you don't even need to identify yourself as Reform if you see yourself as somebody who practice's less or more than a Reform. Just do what you feel is right, not what other's say is right.
