There are 9 planets in our solar system. The one closest to the Sun is called Mecury. It takes 58 Earth days for Mercury to rotate ONCE! Venus is the next closest planet to the Sun. Its atmosphere is covered in all sorts of toxic gases, so no probes are really able to go to Venus and explore its surface: the probe would burn up first. Earth, our planet, is the one planet of the 9 that I'm writing about that, so far, we are positive that it has life. Mars, also known as the Red Planet, may also contaion life, but it is still a puzzling theory. After Mars is the Asteroid Belt, but as that is not a planet, I am not going in depth. Jupiter is the next planet, after Mars. The next four planets (discluding Pluto) are known as the Gas Giants because they are made of gas, and they are giant. Jupiter is the biggest planet in our little solar system; Jupiter also has a big 'red spot' that is actually a century-raging storm. Saturn is the 2nd biggest planet, and is best known for its rings. The rings are many rocks and space dust that has been pulled into Saturn's orbit. Uranus used to be a normal planet, with rings going side to side, like Saturn's. However, something hit Uranus and now Uranus is on its side, and still rotating and orbiting the Sun. Neptune is a very cold, sad, miserable blue planet, but not as miserable as Pluto. Pluto is almost as small as its moon, and is so far away from the Sun that it gets practically NO heat energy at all!
