It might be helpful to add the kind of skill and training required for certain levels of effectiveness and mastery. That way a character with 5 minutes of instruction isn't throwing knives without cutting him or her self.

Feral Knight The more varieties there are of a weapon type, such as swords, the more of a requirement it becomes for a 'master' to specialize in a specific variety of that weapon, such as of scimitars and falchions or (gods help anyone that jumps on this bandwagon) katana.I <3 you. The katana is kind of a sub par weapon actually. It's not flexible, the folding process robs the sword of this making the blade actually resonate more. Meaning you break this sword hitting something wrong. It's also one of the most inffective blades I've ever witnessed against armor tests and the process for making the katana's legendary edge is generally eaten away by chain mail. The way the links press together it actually just eats the edge right off, instantly dulling the blade. The sword doesn't have the weight behind it of other larger weapons to actually crush through armor if need be. It's why the Norman broadsword became so much more popular, you know... beyond it being preferred by cavalry.

Feral... I applaud you, nicely done.
Though one thing we've missed as a weapon is ourselves, if anything that is a weapon with most potential is ourselves in my opinion, weapons are mainly just tools to help in warfare or complicated fights. And we do have multiple styles of martial arts to choose from, mines preferrably being Jiu-jutsu. In this age there's a lot more fist fights than with swords or any other weapon and there are characters designed for hand-to-hand combat. Though there are such things as gauntlets and metalic knuckles (Doesn't always have to be brass.) there's always a chance the opponent has better means to block or dodge the punch and then just break your joints and incapacitate you, why not talk about the styles and purposes?

Feral Knight The simple answer would be that I am not anywhere near as familiar with unarmed combat, so I didn't miss it. I left it out on purpose. I don't fight with my hands unless I absolutely have to, and that is rare. I am rather well known for carrying multiple knives on me at all times. Using a weapon extends your reach. Using a weapon prevents you from hurting yourself when you strike. Weapons always hit harder than your bare hands. I very much disagree about the body having more potential than weapons, but then I happen to be of the mindset that combat is an art. And I can be very creative. That said, you are correct. It would be a good idea for someone to provide some info on unarmed combat. The best I can do is, however, is list off the styles that I know of. I will be happy to do so if requested. And thank you for the compliment. I'd like to see you do that. If it is as a separate thread then you could make it open for others to add to it, to cover the parts you don't know.
