Caj-qota Family
The Caj-qota - 'White City' - Family is a group of kirsas who make their home in a small steppe territory. They are so named for the pale soil of the lands in which they dig their burrows. They have no religion and few laws, being a small group of free and happy spirits. Theirs is a group that has existed for only a few generations, and they happily accept newcomers. Violence is not tolerated.
The CQ are only loosely organized, looking to a female they call the Den Mother. When she steps down or dies, she is succeeded by her oldest female child, called the Den Daughter. In this group, everyone does a little of everything, though the most skilled in an area are acknowledged as the 'head' of that task - these are the Kitmistress, Digmaster/mistress, and Huntmaster/mistress.
Traditional mating is very rare, and the kirsas of Caj-qota are often quite promiscuous. Parents always take an active role in their children's lives, although young are raised collectively. Den Mother: Tato | warm | Den Daughter: Kushti | dear | Daughter of Tato and Bu-ino. Kitmistress: Spishi | honey | Digmaster: Brichindin | rain | Huntmaster: Kham | sun |
Brother: Bu-ino | proud | Father of Kushti, Baksheesh, and Deram. Baksheesh | good fortune | Son of Tato and Bu-ino. Jívaben | life | Tulla | fat | Jook | dog | Sister: Deram | light | Daughter of Tato and Bu-ino. Kachardin | sad | Pan'i | water | Nazar | flower | Gilli | song |
Tato: The winner of Tato will be one of the family's leaders - be aware that the CQ will become your responsiblity! Simple enough - you create her character!
Kushti: The winner of Kushti will be one of the family's leaders - be aware that the CQ will become your responsiblity! Simple enough - you create her character!
Spishi: Simple enough - you create her character!
Brichindin: Simple enough - you create his character!
Kham: Simple enough - you create his character!
The following will be distributed as runner-up prizes (or through other means): Bu-ino, Baksheesh, Jivaben, Tulla, Jook, Deram, Kachardin, Pan'i, Nazar, Gilli.

Zmelja Storozh Pack
The Zmelja Storozh - 'Earth Watcher' - Pack is an old but relatively small group of dholes (of 'lawful good' alignment, if you will). They are usually peaceful, minding their own business and not getting caught up in scuffles with other packs. Their territory lies in a region of mixed forest, and is large considering the size of the pack. While peaceful, they are tradition-bound, and are slow to accept change. Whether or not outsiders may join, and which, is determined by the current Korol and Koroleva.
They worship the Earth, whom they regard as female, and to a lesser extent, her consort - the Sky. They are led by a male and female pair, the Korol and Koroleva. The Krasavec and Devica (male and female, respectively) function as the advisors and confidants of the rulers; they are usually siblings of the Koroleva, if she has a brother and sister. Otherwise, they may be chosen from within the pack. The rulers are succeeded by their oldest daughter and her arranged mate, called the Carevna and Zhenih. The default male rank is Boec (Warrior); female is Zastupnica (Protector).
In the ZS, rogue breeding or breeding with anyone other than your declared mate is absolutely unacceptable, and the female and any resulting offspring will be Shunned: though not exiled outright, they will exist only on the fringes of society, largely ignored and never spoken to. They are always the last to eat, and sleep on the outskirts of the pack. For the male who has bred with another's mate or fiancee, his fate is exile.
Adolescent breeding is frowned upon; relationships should not be consummated until adulthood. Korol: Mölö | to cut | Koroleva: Salki | to help | Ill and dying, cause unknown. Krasavec: Khadgalakh | to keep | Brother of Salki, mate of Tsolootei. Devica: Tsolootei | free | Mate of Khadgalakh.
Carevna: Sigira | double bone | Younger sister of Tangsug, betrothed of Beleg. Adolescent. Zhenih: Beleg | gift | Betrothed of Sigira.
Boec: Hula'an | red | Once the Zhenih, lost his status when Tangsug became Shunned. Udaan | slow | Brother of Tangsug and Sigira, betrothed of Similzen, will be the next Krasavec. Adolescent. Simergen | wet snow | Mate of Tergal. Mülsün | hail | Zastupnica: Tergal | full moon | Mate of Simergen. Similžen | bird of prey | Betrothed of Udaan. Adolescent. Boro'an | heavy rain | Daughter of Khadgalakh and Tsolootei. Adolescent. Ulijasu | ash tree |
Shunned: Tangsug | beautiful | Former Carevna. Adolescent. Mau'un | bad | Daughter of Szerelem and Tangsug. Pup.
Exiled: Szerelem | passion | Father of Mau'un. Adolescent.
Patron Goddess: Name | name meaning | Goddess of Earth, mated to the God of Sky.
Mölö: Molo's mate is dying before her time, and the daughter meant to succeed her has broken pack law, having given birth to a child outside the bonds of mating. She is too young, and worse, the child is not even her fiancee's. Now both she and Molo's granddaughter are Shunned, and his second daughter is now the Carevna.
Describe Mölö's feelings/reactions.
Sigira: The winner of Sigira will be one of the pack's leaders - be aware that the ZS will become your responsiblity! Her mother is dying, and her sister shamed and Shunned. Suddenly, Sigira is the heir; with the death of her mother, she will become Koroleva, not Devica.
How does Sigira feel about all this?
Beleg: The winner of Beleg will be one of the pack's leaders - be aware that the ZS will become your responsiblity! Being betrothed to the rulers' daughter, even though she is the younger, is a great honor - but now it's more than that! Thanks to Tangsug's lapse in judgement, Beleg is about to be Korol.
How does Beleg feel about this? How does he feel about Sigira - does he love her, are they just friends, or are they something less than friendly?
Udaan: As the son of the Korol and Koroleva, Udaan has never been in line to succeed, but it was and is almost certain that he will be the next Krasavec. Now, though, it is Beleg he will advise, not Hula'an.
How does Udaan feel about all this?
Similžen: Fiancee of Udaan, Similzen has always known that she will be the mate of the Krasavec, but now there's more to it than that. Sigira has no sister save for Tangsug, who can no longer hold any rank in the pack, and a Devica must be found for the future Koroleva. As mate-to-be of Udaan, future Krasavec, Similzen is the natural choice.
How does Similzen feel about this? Does she want to be Devica, or not? Does she even like Sigira?
Hula'an: Hula'an was the Zhenih, fiancee to the future Koroleva, but lost that position when his mate-to-be had an ill-fated tryst with another packmember. Now he's mateless, and will never be Korol.
How does Hula'an feel about all this? Is he feeling embarrassed, betrayed, angry, relieved?
Tangsug and Szerelem: You must enter with a partner - one of you responding to Tangsug's prompt, the other to Szerelem's. Tangsug was intended from birth to become the next Koroleva, and that was about to happen sooner than she had ever imagined...until she fell pregnant by a male who wasn't even her fiancee. Once her daughter was born, it became clear who that male was; now he has been exiled, and Tangsug and her daughter are Shunned. They are ignored, the last to eat, and sleep on the fringes of the pack - not abandoned, but reviled.
What is life like for Tangsug now? What are her plans, if any?
Szerelem was just an ordinary Boec, or so it seemed, until the fiasco with the Carevna thrust him into the spotlight. He was exiled before he could even see his daughter, and now lives as a rogue.
What was his relationship with Tangsug? How did it start? Does he love her, or was it something else?
Mau'un: The accident that changed several lives - some for better, some for worse. Among the latter are her mother, the only person in the world who pays any attention to her, and her father, whom she has never met.
What is it like to grow up this way?
The following will be distributed as runner-up prizes: Khadgalakh, Tsolootei, Simergen, Mulsun, Tergal, Boro'an, Ulijasu.
