On Sunday my boyfriend and I tried having a**l sex. We used lotion as a lubricant, and then we tried it. It felt so awful. It hurt so bad that I yelled at him to stop and started crying. I was really looking forward to trying it out. But now I'm nervous to try again. Is there anything that we can do to help us out?

You need to be very relaxed. If you tense up at all, it's probably not going to work.
You also need to get used to the feeling. You can't expect to just thrust a p***s in there. Use fingers or small toys first. Be very patient. It can take time to work all the way up to getting a p***s in there.
You need a real lubricant, and you need a lot of it. Hand lotion is absolutely not what you should be using. Hand lotions can have dyes and fragrances that can irritate sensitive ares. And they may have oils that can break down the latex of condoms. So look for a lubricant that was actually made for sexual activity and that is not oil-based.
Condoms are recommended for STD prevention, for sanitary reasons, and to prevent pregnancy. Because although you cannot get pregnant from a**l sex directly, you can get pregnant if semen drips from your a**s to your v****a.
Good luck!
