[[Ooc:// IRL I am very, very into Divinations. I try to make everything here as accurate as possible. Lessons here are applicable to real-life divinations cases. That said, some things must be Potter-ized. These things will have a * by them.]]

Remus Lupin walked unsteadily into class. He was ghostly pale and thin with many purple and red scars across every visible part of his body. When he walked, it looked like a light breeze would knock him over before he set down his things on his desk and stood at the front of the classroom. He had insisted before taking the job that all the grandeur was ridiculous only to get to class, but it was, alas, the only classroom left.

Divinations could not be moved. His anxiousness was obvious in the way his hands shook handling his wand and text books, but why he was so anxious, he was sure his students would just pass off as being from the first class he's teaching here. The real reason: The moon was in a waxing gibbous, the dreaded 97% of full. Never a good way to greet your first class. He assured himself the next one would be redeeming.

"Er-, hello," he began, uncomfortably and obviously embarrassed to address the student body. He cleared his hoarse throat. No beating around the bush here. None at all.

"I am not here to tell you that Divinations is the most important lesson you'll learn in your life, though it may very well be. I am not going to pretend that a crystal ball holds the answers to everything, because that would be a lie. What I would like to say before we begin is that this class is for those who take an interest in the world around them; those who ask themselves questions, and question the set-in-stone law of life itself. Everything I am about to teach you is open to interpretation. I am always excited and interested to hear from each and every one of you." He stated each sentence very matter-of-factly. Though his voice was quiet and weak, it seemed to carry through the room nicely.

Our first lesson will be to see what you know about the basics of Divination.

He took a piece of chalk in his hand, manually writing it out as opposed to magic-ing it onto the board.

"The word 'Divination' comes from Latin: 'divinare' - to foresee or to be based upon a god," he said first. "It is defined as the assay to insight a question or situation at hand by regiment procedure."

Remus paused, considered the students, and allowed a moment to take notes before continuing. "Seeing as this is our first day, this will be a short lesson. We will be going over spontaneous divination, omens, oneiromancy (dreams), taromancy (tarot) and chronomancy (time and luck)."

Noting quite a few confused faces at the words, he added, "Though we may or may not get to everything I would like to cover, the order of which we do them will be based solely on what you as the students show the most interest in."

Any questions will be answered here, in my office, or over PM. Please turn in homework either on this forum or over PM to myself.

Lily sat at her desk, taking notes from what Professor Lupin said. She also wrote down her homework, delivering it to the professor later on.

Sammich strolled into class just before the teacher. She set her text book down on the desk closest to her and took her seat. She watched the teacher intently, wondering why he looked so nervous as he scribbled the days lesson on the board. Deciding to look past it she took notes hoping that the class would reach her expectations.
