we all have different opinion about the movie and I respect that, please respect others and stay in topic in my thread please.

I just got to see the movie. It wasn't nearly as good as I was anticipating - having people walking out of theatres because they're scared and having such acclaim that it got a nationwide release on such a small budget really upped my expectations, and I felt a bit let down by it overall.

My favourite part was quite early on, when the couple are woken, and are listening for a noise: then they hear the scream and the really loud bang. It was simple, but pretty nicely done. The ouija scene was interesting, inasmuch as I'd broken out a pencil and paper to see if I could decipher what it was saying, until the characters did that for me. I was expecting more split-second visual effects for keen viewers to pick up on (case in point, the end of Cloverfield), since I think the handycam style movie - especially a horror movie - is the best way to do such a thing, but alas, again, disappointed. The ending that I saw (the non-theatrical release one) wasn't really moving. It was pretty anticlimactic - I would have been much happier with a sudden ONE OF THEM IS GONE FOREVER scene sans explanation than what actually happened, but maybe that's just me constantly superimposing my own ideas over similar ones.

I thought the movie was only sad inasmuch as Micah was a twunt. Not really scary nor lingering-dread inspiring.

I totally respect your decision and agree with most of it, I was too disappointed on how people would call it "scary" it was sad for the end for me at least. I'm sure other people find it scary and I won't complain, it's their opinion. I still find it very fascinating to watch but not worth paying for it, please watch it free on this site

What I found fascinating was the research put into it. I personally didn't notice, but my boyfriend pointed it out to me afterwards. Everything happened with multiples of 3.

Micha was an idiot for provoking it. "Oh my gosh look footsteps!" "Oh my gosh go die in a pit you demonic piece of nothing." he could have just said that and just died. The movie to me wasn't scary, I actually laughed through some of it, only because my cousin was haunted by a demonic for about 7 years of his life. The movie wasn't scary to me.

Finally got the DVD yesterday and watched today.

I watched the 'safe' ending verison, I'll watch the other ending another time, but I loved it! Ok it could have done with a bit more background building at the start but I still enjoyed it.

Micha was an idoit all the way through it but at the same time he was meant to show the other half of the reaction to stuff like this happening. What I mean is that people react two ways to a haunting, they are either scaryed out of their wits like the girlfriend (I can't remember her name) or they want to find out what it is and deal with it like Micha.

Yes the paranormal side of it was a little 'meh' I loved the human side. I mean you know if was fake but at time I did lose myself in it a few times and really think the girlfriend was truely terrified for her life.

I aslo liked seeing just what can be 'faked' with a little effort. You knew the camera had be paused and something moved/changed but there was not break in the filming that normally shows it as fake.

Although I'm still trying to figure out how they dragged her about. I'm guessing wire work.

I studied Film Studies at collage. blaugh I've been trained to do reviews like this.
