This morning I found a bird with a broken leg... so in my softheartedness, I took it home...
sweatdrop I am currently trying to nurse it back to health...
Any ideas? Suggestions?
sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop This will be really complicated for you to handle and you can expect the healing to take at least a month.
It would probably need its leg splintered (taped with special tape in this case).
If you check the leg and its purplish or has some other obviously weird colour at the break, don't worry it's not gangrene (even if it sometimes looks like that), it's usual for birds to bruise easily.
The problem with birds breaking legs is that they tend to shatter rather than just break as in mammals. This could create sharp shards that easily cut blood vessels and stuff like that.
It really should get expert attention, or it will likely die in a few days
