The fall was always an active season for the jungle. Most creatures strategically prepared themselves for the coming winter, a drop in temperatures that resulted in a cooler atmosphere. The jungle never really produced snow but the drops in temperature gave away the time of year. This usually indicated for the jungle dwellers to find a home to settle in for duration of the coldest season.

Sipaque was different from the rest of the creatures in that he made no move to settle a permanent home for the oncoming season. Instead, he found it better to deceive the creatures around him into thinking he would stay in one spot. They, the prey, would find a home a great distance away from his own temporary shelter. It would be a couple of days before he went out hunting, finding their abodes, and having himself a meal that would keep him full for a long while. His strategy had yet to fail.

He had yet to fail on catching his meal. The autumn colors matched his coat in the way that they helped conceal him. His brown and red pelt matched the leaves that made the trees and earth. It was the perfect setting and an even better season. Fall had to be by far his favorite time of year.

The male lay within his newest den, nothing more than a bed full of leaves with a rocky overhang to shield him from the rain thanks to the rocky structure above him. A smile spread across his maw as he eyed the scene in front of him, watching a rather large deer step cautiously around the trees, unsuspecting of the danger it could be subjected to. His body lay within the leaves, too comfortable to move for the moment. It hadn't been too long since he had his last meal so hunger didn't pose as a reason for him to move as of yet.

This would be the beautiful female's first cold season as an adult, and so far it was prooving to be quite the complicated time of year for her and her family.

This was the first time in her life her mother has chosen her own father over over her mate, Styx's father. He had fallen ill and she felt obligated to take the only son of the litter of four with her to assist the massive family and leave Ajax with their three daughters.

So it was up to Styx and her two sisters to take care of their own father as he sought to teach them the ways of survival if they so choose to be on their own. This was not her first time hunting, however this was her big chance to beat her sisters and bring home the bigger kill. Without their mother home, their father was getting depressed and weak, a nice juicy freshly killed dear would be the perfect ticket to make him smile once more.

So there Styx was, crouching and eying down the large deer, waiting to make her move. Was she aware that there was another B'alam in the area? Of course not, her mind was already way too boggled to notice everything that was around her, which could end up costing her her life.

As the deer nelt down to take it's last bite of grass, Styx's massively muscular body bound towards it and after a very short chase, there was a mighty crack, the sound of the deer's neck being broken followed by a growl of victory and a blood smeared grin across the face of the white female. As the blood covered her face she felt relieved and threw back her head, as if it were all going to be okay soon enough. Oh the magical thing the blood of a fresh kill did to her...

Sipaque watched the deer with little fascination. He hadn't felt this lazy in a while but with a somewhat full stomach and his comfortable position, he was not going to complain too much. His violet orbs noticed a movement in the setting before him that didn't appear to come from the animal he had been previously watching. The male allowed his bright hues to scan the scene in front to see if anything new had changed and was quick enough to catch a white blur.

As he watched the blur, it formed a shape into that of his own species. Sipaque grew interested immediately as he watched the hopeless deer try and escape its inevitable doom. A wide smile spread across his maw at the sound of a snap. Oh the sounds of a fresh kill. How enticing. His own movements became quick but stealthy as he got up onto his paws. From the looks of it, the other b'alam hadn't noticed his presence. This ought to be fun~

The large cat kept his pace slow and steady as he allowed the setting around him to camouflage his pelt. His head was low enough so that his shoulder blades protruded from his back as his tail moved ever so slightly. He watched the female with slight fascination as she seemed to pose a victory over her fresh kill. Oh how he was going to wipe that emotion well away from her delightful features. She would have to learn not to be so quick to celebrate .

The male dipped down so as to put a lot of his weight into his back legs before bounding forward. His only picture in his mind was the bright pelt of the oddly marked female as he raced toward her, closing the already small distance between them. He used every muscle he could into speeding up before jumping at the side of the exposed female. This would knock the air out of her if he hit the side just right.

WHAM- Weeze!

All wrapped up in the moment, caught up in her blood lusting frenzy, Styx had completely forgotten to always check her surroundings as she got swiped from the side and with her wind took away her ability to think. Sputtering for a breath with her eyes wide, she tried to figure out what had just happened to her. Here were the facts that she had come to terms with - a. she could not breathe b. there was a big furry thing on top of her that was most likely a B'alam c. she was on the ground and d. she did not like this at all.

As soon as she caught her breath she was hissing, snarling and her claws were out. This massive white ball of muscle was now filling with hatred and was now quite dangerous, god help the beast which crossed her path. A slew of not-so-nice cuss words came flying out of her mouth, somewhere in there was a question asking who, what where and why all mixed up into one and a warning.

Swiftly after the warning she began with the kicking which her father had taught her if she were ever attacked, trying to get a foot under the male near his gut to use his own weight and send him over himself. The intruder would have another thing coming if it thought it was going to take her prize.

Sipaque prided himself profusely for succeeding in catching his target off guard. This would surely prove that she should never let her guard down. His light brown orbs traced over the now enraged feline pinned down to the ground. She was an angry little thing. The male gave a smirk as he listened to the line of spewed, hateful words and figured it was only natural. She deserved it for letting her guard down. With the slightest movement captured in the corner of his eye, he knew she was back to her senses. So much for fun~

He knew how aggressive females were and was wise enough to know when to quit acting around. His fall-like pelt became visible with his own muscles as he narrowly dodged the powerful hind legs with an awkward jump of his own. Sipaque felt the strain on his body as he landed directly on his front paws, almost like a handstand. He twisted his spine in a way that he faced one direction while the back of his body faced another.

"Oops," he gave a false saddened gaze, his voice dripping with fake innocence. "I am terribly sorry... I didn't see where I was going. You must forgive me."
