Okay, so I know we keep saying this but Yama and I will be opening up the Japanese forum soon. We're working on structure so it's not a mad free-for all. Sometimes, it's expensive to get individual teachers. I've always found books to be somewhat helpful--but then again, it's hard to keep up with the discipline. You know, once we open that forum, you can try to find people your level and you can work together with more experienced speakers who can impart their knowledge. Community sometimes helps give you your stamina so the best luck to you!

I've found this little pocket guide to be a super big help when I'm keeping up with Yama-chan. Once night we had an entire conversation and I still consider myself to knowing no Japanese at all! Haha.

Yeah, I think a lot of it has to do with self-discipline, really. But in this case it's ironic because I always picture the Japanese culture to be among some of the most self-disciplined in the world! I've laxed on my studies. I've got a bunch of crazy things going on that has prevented me from picking up a book and reading it. I think I've decided that I'm not going to take a Japanese College course. Many people learn from books--and my girlfriend is a Japanese major and has Rosetta Stone. I think I'll get by okay. smile
